Theoretical survival question...if you were suspected of embezzling £165,733 from a company you don't even work at, then go on the run into Canadian wilderness and encounter 2 paths in the snow, one with a 35 ft moose and 1 with a gray wolf and you are only armed with a Swiss Army knife and 3 pickles which do you choose and why?

Great question! The answer for me is a simple one. I would take the path with the Grey wolf every time. The reason is that moose are notorious for their breeding habits. Furthermore a lesser known fact about the moose is that the female moose like to rub herself against random vegetation, using said vegetation as a type of "perfume". A study at the Kanuk Community College in Edmonton Canada showed that the "rare scent of dill" rarely found in the Canadian wilderness caused the male moose to want to breed harder, longer, faster, and without protection. That being said I would not want to walk near a 35ft moose with three pickles in my pocket! I have done the research and have found that the Grey wolf does not like pickles so the path with the wolf is an obvious choice for me. Thank you for your question!

So, in March I plan on hiking from Indiana to Arizona or maybe California. I will be 44 years old. Not in the best shape of my life. Have thyroid and hypertension problems. I am scared of what might happen. It's possible that I will die but I am okay with that. I've made my peace. My question is with the hammer on it if a mountain lion or bear were to come at me and if I was lucky enough to land the hit. Now I'm a strong individual but if I swung it with all I had, could I at least discourage the animal from attacking?

Yes. It is heavy and will be a lot to carry on an extended hike, but if you hit something with this walking stick, it will be discouraged. Might I suggest a bowie knife? Bear spray can be helpful, but a stick will hurt an animal or miss it off. A good bowie knife will pierce thick hide and drive in to the bone. Good luck, my friend. I hope this helps.

Is the "compass version" staff actually LIGHTER than the original staff? Or, is your original item simply filled with extra weight, and that is causing the difference in weight?

The weight comes from the tubes themselves. The compass version is similar in weight to the other.
