@@killedbyLife I understand your perspective. What I mean is that he could pass his professional opinion in far more professional constructive ways rather than going into full attack mode. That will even render the lawyer defenceless. It might be his personality to interact like that but if you confidently know what you’re saying, you won’t stress to pass your opinion. I'm a mom scrolling through my son's social media journey to ensure his safety and out of curiosity (with his knowledge), as I do once in a while, who got lost in a rabbit hole of this man's testimony, I am terrified. I am a DV survivor, diagnosed with C-PTSD and am a current patient of psychiatric care. l am aware my kids need counseling (and are currently reviewing) and may need psychiatric care at worst from our past. Knowing there are psychiatrist out there like this who seem more interested in twisting words and showing his superior intelligence by all this double talk and psycho babble is absolutely gut wrenching. If you don't get on this man's good side, he has in some cases where mental institutions and court ordered evaluations for sentencing ect. are concerned great power and you could potentially be locked away and possibly medicated till you drool and don't know who or what you are and let rot, or have your children taken away and handed over to your abuser ect. Because you triggered his need to prove his superiority and based on his word alone. This should not be ok, is not funny and is borderline criminal. Scares the hell out of me. I truly hope someone sees this testimony and checks his caseload, all his patients and then monitors his practice. I'm not saying his diagnosis is wrong, however his combative behavior and his belittling of someone who potentially is a survivor of DV (jd) is appalling. If my abusers had someone testify like this about me when he was on trial I would have been a basket case. The though of it is making my palms sweat and my stomach knot up now. It's not ok, and I hope the jury knows this is not right, and ignores his testimony. Just wrong. Smh.

The MMSE (the test Johnny took) cannot be used in this way. My gf gives these exams (batteries) and they are hours long, and the MMSE is just one of a dozen or more tests that they give in order to diagnose someone with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. I think what they do is take the MMSE score and change the structure of the battery you then take depending on how you perform, if anything at all. By the way, what Johnny messed up on is a task where they asked him to remember a set of words (5 words I think) but didn't say for how long, and then asked him what the words were 5 minutes later. ADHD is just one of many things that could cause someone to mess up on such a small task. That's why lengthy batteries are used to diagnose these types of disorders, not a simple exam like the MMSE.

As a psychology student, with a great deal of hours of experience working with trauma survivors... Depp's testimony was "slower" not in cognitive function, but in speech, as is consistent in trauma survivors who are asked to recount abusive experiences - he was trying to make strong statements, without imbuing a tonne of chaotic energy and emotion... Which is very difficult to overcome in a situation where all eyes are on YOU, the person who may not be believed. He was speaking slowly because his mind is managing the images of those memories, the emotions felt at the time those events occurred and current emotions about them, and is likely to feel like he wanted to be anywhere else, not talking about how he was treated by the person who verbally, physically, psychologically messed with his wellbeing. Depp's drug use does not make him an abuser, nor does his abusive childhood. Sure, stats, figures, risk factors etc... but not everyone fits the bell curve, and high likelihood does not make it entirely probable. Depp's experience makes him more susceptible to being abused... More so than becoming an abuser. Science
@vyvii32932 жыл бұрын
@coconut grove thank you! (Edit) also, that this was all happening at the hands of someone who said "I love you". It adds to the gaslighting in a major way. Cruel behaviour followed by kind appealing language of "I didn't mean it, I love you, just hug me?" Is so messed up. And it retraumatises survivors to retell their experiences and not be believed. Johnny has her voice in his head too, telling him he would not be believed. Guess that didn't work out so well because AH relied on DV being a gendered concept, rather than one of relational issues... I hope for Johnny that he gets peace 💜

Ok so JD scored 27 out of 30 and couldn't remember 3 things.....I also couldn't remember the 3 things a Dr asked me once and I assume because those 3 things had no relevancy to what he ( Dr) and I were discussing in the first place. This Dr S was making me believe that anyone who can't remember the 3 things/words asked at the beginning of a "test" has cognitive issues and possibly early onset dementia!! Even though JD is an actor, rehearsed lines and has to perform in front of many people doesn't mean that he's comfortable to speak in a situation as this. He may very well be nervous knowing that he has to be explicit in what he says or his meanings would/could be misconstrued.

@SelvenXXUP2 жыл бұрын
@@annemariemyburgh7252 Oh, makes plenty of sense to me. See, he was not brought to give a real, informed evaluation of Jhonny. He was brought to make a correlation between substance intake and certain mental pathologies that often lead to cases of domestic violence. Because substance intake is the only thing they've been able to pin Johnny. Their only way of planting a doubt of wether Amber was abused or not is if he is the type of person that would do it, because it's been made very clear that there's no documentation, no visual evidence and no verifiable testimony that proves she got any abuse in any form. So his testimony make sense in so his argument is "Jhonny is a junkie, junkies are violent" and he would preffer to not elaborate any further, because "trust me, I'm a profesional". That's what her team is grasping for, I believe, create a reasonable doubt. And they have no other resource that speak on his mental state. Which is exactly why his side blocked that. No. There is no foundation to ask about that, because Johnny is not suing for mental damages, but for the damage to his career. On his testimony he focuses on the alegations of him being an abuser. He wants those retracted, he wants his image cleared, he is not going after Amber for the abuse she did to him, he wants to be free of her. Because of this, I'm guessing, I don't know about this part, his team probably argued his mental state is irrelevant. The point of the sue, of the argument, is not the damage that Amber caused in their relationship, but with allegations that she simply can not back up and that have caused a great damage to Johnny's profesional and personal life. It's Amber argument that this all happened and her mental issues are caused by it, so her mental state is made relevant because of her own arguments. If they had something that might suggest or prove that he did indeed assault her, anytime, then maybe they could ask for a mental examination by a profesional to proof motive. But they don't. I digress. No, we don't want this man to evaluate Johnny, because he would go at it, instead of trying to find out his mental state, to look for any evidence that his mentally unstable and prone to violence. He'd go at it with a desire to find specific things, and then he wouldn't be objetive. Also, it doesn't matter what any evaluation of Johnny would say, they whole point of trying to put a diagnosis on him is to make the argument that any pathology he may have is reason enough to lead him into abusing his partner. If he's deppresed, that is a consequence of his guilt for what he had done, or he used his power over Amber to distract him from how petty he is like a playground bully. If he's a narcissist, he's downplaying what he did to Amber and exagerating what she did, because he can not find fault in himself. Whatever the evaluator says, even if it's something harmless, they want to argue is the calling card of an abuser. Johnny wanted to go his separate way after the divorce, it was Amber who decided that was not an option. Johnny deserves his mental care to be private because he never wished to make it public.

As I listen further to this “back to the future look alike”, this is the second psych “expert” for AH’s team that I strongly believe needs to be evaluated by the APA and ethical standards with this testimony!! I’m, again, mind blown by this man and his unbelievable assumptions, diagnosis, stating the traits of a disorder assuming he’d commit IPV … and his memory thing leading to a cognitive disorder… like, this is scary in a whole different sense outside this trial !! Everyone better listen to this “expert” testimony more then once and look at the big picture outside this courtroom and be scared to death of the psychiatric healthcare system ….. unbelievable!!

I have never seen someone so confrontational and argumentative in my life. He just couldn’t handle the way the lawyer was framing things and he felt the need to dispute just about everything he said. Even when there were facts backing up the lawyer’s statements he would just go on a tangent trying to explain something, while somehow making it worse for himself. His reaction to the Willy Wonka question was priceless. He actually asked the judge if he had to answer. To which she replied, “yes, you have answer questions.”

He can’t be. You can’t know a patient from just chart notes. Even in therapy. I’ve seen many of my charts notes and even tho they list diagnoses, concerns, high points I’ve brought up. It’s not like when you have a full conversation with a person and sit across from them. Watching body language, listening to changes in tone, seeing the facial expressions that go with what emotions. He is a hack! He is also arguing about those who use drugs being more likely to be abusers. Percentage wise yea for those with substance abuse issues, but he can’t say based off of random peoples ideas of what they’ve seen JD do and what AH has told them that JD was using, as much as those people have claimed. Even if JD did abuse drugs while with AH to the level she claimed, there’s also always exceptions to rules. Dr. Here is leaving out JDs history of being abused and pattern of relationship behavior. JD is always been know to come from a abusive mother so it’s very unlikely he would become an abuser after what he endured knowing how it felt. He also has no past “victims”, at his age and dating as long as he has he should have at least 1 female to testify that he beat her. No abuser just picks one partner to abuse. They have a long trail of bodies behind them. All JDs exes speak his praise, even those that don’t like him like Ellen Barken still stated he wasn’t abusive. Jealous and maybe a little controlling but they also dated when he was very young. All his other exes think highly of him still.

I met a therapist one time that acted very much like this. He was aggressive, combative, and all over with his responses or “advice.” I was in my 20s and in a bad way. It literally scared me so bad I refused to seek further care for my mental health until I was 34! These types of “Doctors” treating mental health patients are dangerous. Especially if they treat people with PTSD, Anxiety, Trauma, or body dysmorphia to name a few. They make you feel like they are attacking you, they trigger you, and they belittle you. The guy I saw refused me adhd medication because he knew I had (past tense) done a few party drugs. I smoked weed and experimented with mdma like 3 times, so I was an insane addict to him. So he said “it was all addictive and by asking it made him feel like I was seeking a good high!” I was like Whoa!! 😧 Ok I just was told I was exhibiting adhd signs by my PCP, so he wanted a second opinion. The dude said “oh yea you have adhd but I won’t prescribe anything for it to a druggie.” I just sat there pretty silent the rest of the session listening to the man rant about random things and then left. He called like 6 times trying to get me to make another appointment and sent letters. So he must have been hurting for patients even with all his fancy school and education! I Waited a good 10 years before I returned to therapy. Thank god I found a real therapist not a quack like this! This man is angry for no reason, argumentative, and off putting appearance wise. He wants to make a point about what HE BELIEVES!! Not an unbiased opinion based on examination of evidence or the patients behavior.

That’s not the problem, if he would answer his questions the way they are designed instead of going off on a tangent and looking combative they wouldn’t be pushing back with rephrasing words. The truth of the matter is he shouldn’t even be on the stand because he did not give a clinical evaluation to Johnny Depp. In fact only Johnny’s therapist and psychiatrist have done so! The rules are clear about ethics, honestly Amber‘s team shouldn’t have a single one of them on the stand to get benefit, almost everyone of hers tried to give an opinion on Johnny Depp without evaluating him, big no no. Johnny’s team actually did it the right way which is more credible
