Dr. David Spiegel was undergoing intense cross-examination while testifying in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial when he was questioned about referring to Depp as an "idiot" during a deposition in this case. Spiegel said he was not being serious and it had nothing to do with his opinion in the case.

This was a google review posted 3 years ago "Dr Speigle killed my step father. My step father was suicidal. He was an alcoholic as well. He had been a patient of Dr Speiegle for years with medication thrown at him. After rehab he never followed up or returned our calls. We called stating he was locked in a room suicidal and he never called us back. When he finally did and said he would follow up and never did. My step dad is dead. Speigle does bare minimum treatment to push meds and then doesn’t care if you die or not."

He is harmless, the only reason you are processing him as aggressive is because johnny depps lawyer is nervous, flimsy, and anxious, and the witness is not. He is one of the smartest people in the room. If you can’t see that, you are probably a fragile very unintelligent human being.

Any film directors reading this? "Takes" aren't supposed to be practices or rehearsals, are they? Film actors don't practice on company time (as stage actors do.) My memory is that there's a read-through, and there are takes. But actors are expected to practice their lines at home. But someone in the business might know. How often are lines rehearsed on film?

I'm a mom scrolling through my son's social media journey to ensure his safety and out of curiosity (with his knowledge), as I do once in a while, who got lost in a rabbit hole of this man's testimony, I am terrified. I am a DV survivor, diagnosed with C-PTSD and am a current patient of psychiatric care. l am aware my kids need counseling (and are currently reviewing) and may need psychiatric care at worst from our past. Knowing there are psychiatrist out there like this who seem more interested in twisting words and showing his superior intelligence by all this double talk and psycho babble is absolutely gut wrenching. If you don't get on this man's good side, he has in some cases where mental institutions and court ordered evaluations for sentencing ect. are concerned great power and you could potentially be locked away and possibly medicated till you drool and don't know who or what you are and let rot, or have your children taken away and handed over to your abuser ect. Because you triggered his need to prove his superiority and based on his word alone. This should not be ok, is not funny and is borderline criminal. Scares the hell out of me. I truly hope someone sees this testimony and checks his caseload, all his patients and then monitors his practice. I'm not saying his diagnosis is wrong, however his combative behavior and his belittling of someone who potentially is a survivor of DV (jd) is appalling. If my abusers had someone testify like this about me when he was on trial I would have been a basket case. The though of it is making my palms sweat and my stomach knot up now. It's not ok, and I hope the jury knows this is not right, and ignores his testimony. Just wrong. Smh.

@@killedbyLife I understand your perspective. What I mean is that he could pass his professional opinion in far more professional constructive ways rather than going into full attack mode. That will even render the lawyer defenceless. It might be his personality to interact like that but if you confidently know what you’re saying, you won’t stress to pass your opinion. Exactly. Unfortunately, most 'mental health care' doctors are ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARES. They have NO bloody idea what they are doing, are ARROGANT as F, pretentious, presumptuous, and absolutely convinced that because THEY haven't seen 'X', it cannot ever possibly be so. They completely wreck themselves when they start talking about professions (or scientific topics) of which they have absolutely NO understanding. His response about acting was a PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT AN IDIOT HE IS. I have acted for 30+ years. This guy should have never said a bloody thing about it, other than admitting to the banal, pedestrian, OBVIOUS facts that--yes--actors rehearse. Go figure. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?! Sometimes, an actor *CANNOT* rehearse with the group. Sometimes, you only have a day to memorize lines. Sometimes, you don't memorize at all. SOMETIMES, YOU READ OFF A TELEPROMPTER. This guy was *SO* pretentious, it makes me wonder about society, in general. Christ on a UNICYCLE, he pissed me off. I wanted to shove that gatorade bottle right up his MDMASS. Freakin' WEASEL.

I have watched this twice. I love to observe human behavior and I have never seen anyone act like this. He is absolutely fascinating to me. His over the top ego? His quirks...his know it all attitude, his facial expressions...just everything about him. He doesn't know that actors rehearse before their being in a movie? Does he just think they show up on the day of shooting" Cold?" He's like a character out of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events... Just so strange.

The MMSE (the test Johnny took) cannot be used in this way. My gf gives these exams (batteries) and they are hours long, and the MMSE is just one of a dozen or more tests that they give in order to diagnose someone with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. I think what they do is take the MMSE score and change the structure of the battery you then take depending on how you perform, if anything at all. By the way, what Johnny messed up on is a task where they asked him to remember a set of words (5 words I think) but didn't say for how long, and then asked him what the words were 5 minutes later. ADHD is just one of many things that could cause someone to mess up on such a small task. That's why lengthy batteries are used to diagnose these types of disorders, not a simple exam like the MMSE.

This guy was epically, and conclusively humiliated and disgraced on the stand. The whole cross-examination of this fool is worthy of watching again and again by law students and pundits alike for how to completely annihilate and impeach a so-called ‘expert witness’ in front of the jury. Part of me is wondering why Heard’s team didn’t try and shut this down. I think there was maybe one objection and a ‘may we approach?’ through his entire cross-examination. I think some of these witnesses called by the Heard team will never be able to work in their field again nor will be called as experts in court because Amber is the kind of person who looks to get even in the most dirty ways she can. @@annemariemyburgh7252 Oh, makes plenty of sense to me. See, he was not brought to give a real, informed evaluation of Jhonny. He was brought to make a correlation between substance intake and certain mental pathologies that often lead to cases of domestic violence. Because substance intake is the only thing they've been able to pin Johnny. Their only way of planting a doubt of wether Amber was abused or not is if he is the type of person that would do it, because it's been made very clear that there's no documentation, no visual evidence and no verifiable testimony that proves she got any abuse in any form. So his testimony make sense in so his argument is "Jhonny is a junkie, junkies are violent" and he would preffer to not elaborate any further, because "trust me, I'm a profesional". That's what her team is grasping for, I believe, create a reasonable doubt. And they have no other resource that speak on his mental state. Which is exactly why his side blocked that. No. There is no foundation to ask about that, because Johnny is not suing for mental damages, but for the damage to his career. On his testimony he focuses on the alegations of him being an abuser. He wants those retracted, he wants his image cleared, he is not going after Amber for the abuse she did to him, he wants to be free of her. Because of this, I'm guessing, I don't know about this part, his team probably argued his mental state is irrelevant. The point of the sue, of the argument, is not the damage that Amber caused in their relationship, but with allegations that she simply can not back up and that have caused a great damage to Johnny's profesional and personal life. It's Amber argument that this all happened and her mental issues are caused by it, so her mental state is made relevant because of her own arguments. If they had something that might suggest or prove that he did indeed assault her, anytime, then maybe they could ask for a mental examination by a profesional to proof motive. But they don't. I digress. No, we don't want this man to evaluate Johnny, because he would go at it, instead of trying to find out his mental state, to look for any evidence that his mentally unstable and prone to violence. He'd go at it with a desire to find specific things, and then he wouldn't be objetive. Also, it doesn't matter what any evaluation of Johnny would say, they whole point of trying to put a diagnosis on him is to make the argument that any pathology he may have is reason enough to lead him into abusing his partner. If he's deppresed, that is a consequence of his guilt for what he had done, or he used his power over Amber to distract him from how petty he is like a playground bully. If he's a narcissist, he's downplaying what he did to Amber and exagerating what she did, because he can not find fault in himself. Whatever the evaluator says, even if it's something harmless, they want to argue is the calling card of an abuser. Johnny wanted to go his separate way after the divorce, it was Amber who decided that was not an option. Johnny deserves his mental care to be private because he never wished to make it public.

i wonder if amber heard realized her lawyers fleeced her with these 'experts' they hired. wonder if there was any kickback involved with the fees. like they rolled up to a bus stop and yelled 'anyone wanna make $100? you can keep the suit'

Has anyone ever noticed that 90% of the people who are representing Amber are morally and ethically corrupt? Looks like this trial is exposing a lot more than Johnny's innocence. I don't know how legally this guy can move forward with his license. He should have it removed. Same goes to the rest of them the world needs less of these people seriously I'm in SHOCK
