I think people don’t really know how hard it is for someone like Amber to do better. I don’t really watch her a whole lot but my perception of why she has not been able to conquer this is because she’s not accessed the right resources. In my opinion the only right resources for her are doctors versed on obesity, dietician versed on obesity and binge eating and a therapist versed on binge eating and her other issues. She has only tried gimmicky food plans that really aren’t going to work because they are far to low in calories and don’t have enough volume of food and weight watchers which helps some people but it’s really not for people with complex issues like Amber, it’s unfortunately verging on gimmicky and some dieticians are not in favour of it, it’s not linking people up with dieticians and consultants are not dieticians. If her issue was as simple as learning to eat less calories something like weight watchers would work, but morbid obesity is about our brain sending way stronger signals to eat than the average person, so it’s just not that easy to ignore.

she's not down 100lb. she's down about 16. she doesn't understand how to track her weight loss so she has always measured her weightloss from her heaviest weight of 572.4 (this was proven to actually be a lie, her highest weight was 594.2 which she spoke about in a video a while ago and then swiftly deleted bc it doesn't fit the lie to her audience). if she had been consistently losing then sure it would be appropriate to se the "572.4" mark but since then she has had several failed attempts, lost, gained back plus more, stopped trying to track weight loss etc. so no, she hasn't lost 100lb in this weight loss effort of hers, over her many efforts maybe, but this time on this journey she is 16 lb down. ultimately it's just more manipulation from a very mentally ill person on the internet.
@gints27662 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s intentionally manipulative, just bad for herself. If she uses her highest weight as the starting point in her head, then she probably feels like the journey isnt as long. I’ve done that too. “Oh I’m only down 3 lbs, well I’m actually down 10 lbs from my highest so I’m doing better.” Not to say it isnt a toxic mentality though. I started taking semaglutide in jan 2020, I was 330lbs then by jan 21 I was 329lbs. Semaglutide made no difference to me, other than helping my diabetes. In march/april 21, I started to cook only for me, as my husband was having autism issues, so didnt want the meals I cooked. I slowly started to lose weight, I then started weight training, then in jan22, I was told about intermittent fasting, and now I'm 240lbs, for me it was nothing to do with an injection, it was about changing my habits for me. I started to talk more about things I was discovering, weight training ideas, food ideas, by talking to everyone about what I wanted to do and learning more, it motivated me. I've been told I need to get to a bmi of 30, so 200lbs then i can stop my diabetes meds, I've been told i will likely gain weight, but i didn't eat because I was hungry, I ate because I was bored happy sad etc.. I'm glad that amber lyn is finding a way to keep herself motivated, but I would worry that she will stop losing and become depressed, the same that's happened to me dozens of times. She needs to address her underlying reasons as to why she kept regaining weight she lost. Semaglutide is the inward facing name of the Drugs known as Ozempic and Wegovy (same medicine just two names one for diabetes and one for obesity.) Drug companies give a drug a name when presenting it to the FDA for approval. Then, they pick an outward facing name (think of it as a nickname) for the public that is easier to pronounce. There's more to it than that, but that is why drugs have two names.

I’ve taken Ozempic for one year and I can tell you my experience. The first 3 months I lost about 15lb per month but after that the lost started to decline. It’s not a miracle, it helps but it doesn’t work if you still eat more calories than you should. If you eat over 5000 cal a day, it will help you eat less, but you can still be over eating and for the long term it’s not enough by itself. I’m from Brazil and it’s cheaper (in dollars) here. That’s because it’s the same amount for every country. If it’s 1000dollars in US, it’s 1000euros in Europe and it’s 1000reais in Brazil (about 193 dollars and yes my money is undervalued) and so on.

It’s really interesting seeing how people view Ozempic. I take it because after being a Type One Diabetic for 17 years, insulin resistance is a very real thing. It’s cut down my excessive need for insulin, my insulin works better, and I can actually eat grains when I’m on it. So I’m in a lot of support groups, and it’s so frustrating because people think it’s a miracle drug when it’s not. It’s simply a tool to aid in weight loss. You still have to put in the work, make healthy food choices and be active. It’s a waste of money to take it but not use it properly. It also takes away the drug from people who take it seriously. I say this because now it’s on back order constantly. I love ozempic because I can live again and not waste as much insulin
@mothrasdaughter2 жыл бұрын
And in terms of weight loss, less resistance has helped me actually lose abdominal fat which has been a blessing. The food aversion is absolutely gnarly, but it forced me to make healthier/leaner choices and also take the time to think if I’m actually hungry or just bored

I’m on a similar drug, Truicity, it’s also a weekly blood sugar stabiliser that’s being used as a weight loss assistance drug. It works as a hungry suppressant… (I haven’t felt hunger in weeks) but… the side effects are kinda brutal and I worry she won’t deal with it. Stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhoea … that last for the first 1 -3 days after every injection. I’m down 30kgs so far.

Really hoping she sticks to this! From what I've seen, she has no problem with getting a weight loss surgery but has been told that she has to tackle her binge eating disorder first. Now she seems to have a therapist, but I don't know if that's something she's working on since she's taking the Ozempic. I have a feeling it may just be a temporary good thing and then she'll fall back on her old ways since she hasn't actually made any mental progress. Hoping she proves me wrong, but I don't have my hopes up.

When you are scared of Drs it’s a condition called “white coat” syndrome. I have had 80 plus orthopaedic and other surgeries and I still suffer from this condition which results in high blood pressure and elevated heart rate and pulse.
@peachy_lili2 жыл бұрын
white coat tachycardia. it's why my blood pressure readings in the doc's office were always bonkers with those awful arm cuffs (Because THEY HURT and I KNOW that going in!) but now are normal since they use the wrist ones on me.
@wideride83202 жыл бұрын
@@peachy_lili ugh those cuffs. 😫 Also, the circumstances make a difference for me. My obgyn made me change my bc because I was always hypertensive at my annual exam, but I have have many months of blood drive bp readings well below 120/80 but they wouldn't consider it.
@nicolek16762 жыл бұрын
@@peachy_lili the cuffs hurt due to your blood pressure being so high with its reading. Cuffs have actually come undone on me and a reading can’t be done. All my surgeons know my history of this condition and they aren’t worried about it because as soon as I go under my pressure goes down to normal. As a PTSD sufferer I do take blood pressure meds as my mind is in constant fight and flight mode. I have no medical symptoms that would cause high blood pressure which is good. The only sign I get when it does peak is my face goes red.
@IAmNotASuccubus2 жыл бұрын
This. A few months ago I went to the hospital and was asked to check my bp using a machine located in the middle of the lobby (it's not uncommon here) and that freaked me out so badly. Eventually the doctors got a reading that was alarmingly high (189/110). Doctors let me calm myself down and take it again an hour later by myself (124/72). That white coat syndrome ain't no joke.
@nicolek16762 жыл бұрын
@@IAmNotASuccubus correct it isn’t a joke My BP has risen to 225/124, with this reading I’m at a high risk of having a stroke and or a heart attack. I was given pre op meds this time. I usually can’t have them as they make me feel sick when I come out from being under and I just have straight up sedation. The reason my BP was so high is because I was being treated like crap from a volunteer who takes patients to pre op because I’m unvaccinated. I can’t have it because I suffer from a blood clot disorder

Injections that have to be done in the hospital due to risk of anaphylaxis for up to 2hrs after so you have to stay. And the hospital was 3 hrs away. It wasn’t covered yet by the government place like The Lions Club and Rotary Club paid for it for a year

Also I don't think it's a money thing. I had horrible side effects on Metformin which does a similar thing to help people with insulin resistance, but it DID stop me from craving sugar, and I actually felt satisfied after meals. The way it suppresses your hunger is COMPLETELY different to stimulant based meds like Duromine where you feel too sick for food. I genuinely believe that it's working for her because she just feels like a normal person now. How normal people eat a meal and just feel full. As someone with PCOS and hormonal issues I've literally never felt that other than when I was on Metformin. I wish so much that I had access to Ozempic.
@emmamations2 жыл бұрын
@@cherrypai44 I've found stimulant based weight loss drugs don't work for me because I also have ADHD so they just make me calm and focused. They make me feel too sick to eat for the first few days, then when I get used to them my appetite is completely back to normal. It's super weird how different bodies with the same conditions behave differently. Most people's side effects to Metformin are diarrhoea and really bad nausea, but for me I actually had the opposite problem and couldn't go to the bathroom, and it caused horrible pain in my ribs to the point that I thought I was having a gallstone attack.
@unicornblow68742 жыл бұрын
Amberlynn would have to pay for weight loss surgery out of pocket, as she’s not bought health insurance out of all the money she’s made on KZbin. Also, Amber is basing that 100 pounds from her highest weight ever, which she claims was 572.4 pounds. She will lose 10 pounds, gain back 20, lose 8, and claim an 18 pound loss. She just recently began with the Ozempic

I think a lot of people want the best for anyone in ALR's situation but your Dr. friend said it best - *It won't do the work for you* - and you *have* to improve your food choices. THIS is where she's likely going to fail. She's still eating tons of processed foods as per her most recent videos. I honestly just don't see it happening given her long history of a bad relationship with food that she keeps refusing to get help for. 🤷♀

The biggest problem with appetite suppressants is that they only work while you're taking them. I know. I tried them for a couple years when I was younger. I lost A LOT of weight, but I never got the control anywhere near where I am now. It's like my levothyroxine in that the only real weight loss you see is when it's combined with better habits. Assuming she's not lying to her "lady-doctor," her doctor is a bad doctor because of her LONG history of failure & blaming others should disqualify her from that option.

Ozempic works great, and I was only able to get insurance to pay for it because I was pre-diabetic. Did keto and Ozempic and everything was going phenomenally until three months later at my next blood work. Keto had dropped my A1C to normal levels and insurance stopped paying for it. Getting off it was SO tough because the hunger came ROARING back. Fortunately I was able to reign in all my will to be healthy and carry on without it. As of today since February 28th I’m down 76 lbs. Blood pressure normalizing, cholesterol NORMAL (I got off my statin), A1C normal. It’s nice to be slimmer, but at my age it’s about living longer now.
