I think Amber’s biggest problem is that she gets excited about the planning part. She’ll plan things out and get amped up about that. I am 12 months post WLS and it’s still a struggle for me sometimes. ALR wouldn’t make it passed the approval process. She isn’t motivated and very lazy. You have to follow the surgeon recommendations which includes: psychological evaluations, pcp follow ups, cardiology check ups, pulmonary specialists, RN visits, RD appointments, group classes, EKGs, and many more steps depending on the surgery. I went through a lot before my surgeon would agree to even touch me. It took a year for my weight loss doctor to say that I am ready for surgery. He really pushed for behavioral therapy modification to address my anxiety and depression. And I agree, WLS should be the last option because once it’s done…that is it! After, the way you eat completely changes. You have to follow the surgeons diet plan because if you don’t, you can be physically ill. ALR says she has BED, she would destroy her post surgical stomach and risk death.

Doing it ‘naturally’ and in a healthy way, means you’re doing the mental work, and you’ve had that ‘moment’ (that you need) where it all clicks in your mind, and falls into place. ..Weight loss surgery won’t give you the mental change you need to lose weight.

It's like watching a soap opera. My grandma said she loved watching Days of Our Lives because even when she hadn't watched for a year, when she got back to it she was able to pick up right where she left off.

As someone who had VSG surgery in March of 2021 and who has lost about 115 lbs since surgery / 150 total, I think it can work for her but it is not an easy fix. I spent over two years considering surgery as an option, and then at least six months in the pre-approval process. It's really a mental game getting your head right before you get the surgery, and it's tough in the first year or so afterward. As well, it's harder to maintain the further out you get as you are able to eat somewhat more again (never as much as I could previously but still I can see how it's easy to out-eat the surgery). I have changed my entire approach to food and eating, and have a much healthier relationship with food now, but it takes a LOT of work.

She's a food addict who is actively gaining weight. I did the math when she gained 10 pounds in a week, and she has to eat 8500 calories a day. When you're eating that much, it's not about food. WLS is not a magic pill, which is what she is looking for. She needs to be ready. She needs to give up ALL trigger foods and only eat lean protein and veggies, and learn how to deal with her issues without eating. She also has to learn to be hungry, or to put off eating because it's still going to be there, and she hasn't done that in 20 years. It's one thing to eat 8500 calories a day when you have a "big stomach, have to fill it up," but if your stomach is the size of a teaspoon, that's dangerous. And even if she manages to lose the weight there will still be many days in the future, and she can stretch her stomach and gain back the weight. She needs to sort out her food issues first, and they won't approve her until she does. She will also have to do the prep, and I don't see her doing that. I want to see her succeed, so I hope I'm wrong.

Well..... I found my motivation to keep going with my weight loss journey. I want to go horseback riding with my niece next summer and for that I want to lose at least 30kg... I'm now at 15kg less on the scale since May and I'm super proud of myself 😇 There are things that help with sticking to a diet or lifestyle change, if you really want it. No surgery needed for me. Also, what has helped me: take all my snacks and sweets out of my room, so I don't see it all the time. And then I would allow myself one snack a day after one of my three meals 😅

Yesterday I bought a lot of stuff for my journey. It was pizza sauce, tortillas, green beans, and turkey pepperoni. Those are all things I buy specifically for my low calorie meals, which I've been eating for over 2 years now. (obviously I eat more than just those things, those are just the ones I happened to be out of yesterday). They aren't flashy or exciting, no. But sticking to a lower calorie meal plan and walking/exercising regularly hasn't been flashy either--but 2 years of it has helped me drop 132 pounds. So like. It's more about consistency, having a plan and knowing how to execute on the plan, and just. Staying with something for more than a week or two.

I think we need to have a video on weightloss surgery and non weightloss surgery. People seem to be of the opinion that weightloss surgery is the easy way out but there are so many steps to it and risks involved.

Yeah I felt that. It’s exhausting to plan out every meal and I personally count calories (been doing it for about 10 months now) and I’m experiencing burnout. I had to take a 2 week break to just relax and not have myself be so anxious around my food and meal times. Good luck to you, I wish you the best on your journey ❤
@powderandpaint142 жыл бұрын
After a while though you do get used to the basic amounts of things to eat, and what are better options. You don't have to count every calorie forever. Also you should get more used to your body and when you're full etc.

what she doesn't realize is she could get MORE famous BY LOSING WEIGHT... if she's been attempting for so long... she's dragged it out. I think she needs BED counseling + weight loss surgery + a dietician... These are doable for her with her money imo.

I think if ALR gets weight loss surgery she will completely blow it. As a matter of fact, patients are only expected to lose max 50% of their EXCESS weight. So let’s say she should weigh 140 - and currently weighs about 500. That’s an excess of 360 lbs. So, ideally, if she could lose just 180 lbs she would be considered a weight loss surgery success. Problem is - if she ONLY loses 180 lbs she will still weigh in the 300s!!! And most WLS patients gain back a large percentage of what they lost. I just don’t see her mentality about food changing. She mentions SO much about her eating disorder but is kidding herself if she thinks she’s even scratched the surface of getting control of it.

I see this a lot among my friends and family and may be why AmberLynn tries the same things over and over when it doesn’t work. They don’t recognize that the program overall doesn’t work for them, what happens is they do it for a short time and they DO lose weight, but then it’s not sustainable. When they fall off, instead of telling themselves “okay that doesn’t work” they instead tell themselves they failed and it works if they can just stick to it. Ive heard so many people say something along the lines of “I just need to get back to doing xyz, that worked I just have no self control.” It erodes your confidence over and over and it doesn’t help them see the bigger picture.

"There's no possible way that it's not going to happen." She said the same thing about not overeating now that Wifey is there and she is happily in love, although she's recently gained at least 50 pounds while Wifey was still there. She said the same thing about Optavia, although that hilariously ended after one day.

I just had weight loss surgery in October and in my opinion she's not ready. There's so much you have to go thru before and after the surgery. She sound like shes looking at it as a magical cure. Its the hardest thing ive ever done. It's the best decision I've made but it was my last option.

I'm no doctor, but I would NEVER approve weight loss surgery for ALR unless she agreed to like a mandatory 6-month stay at a hospital specializing in EDs. So many people get these surgeries, and they eat right through it.

I just feel like with all her binges that if she has the surgery that she's gonna rip the stitches. I just had the sleeve surgery 3 weeks ago and it's mind blowing when you measure out your food and your brain goes "there's no way that'll fill me up" and those 2 oz shock the hell out of you. She really needs the surgery, but I just believe she'll end up like all the others you see on my 600lb life and she's gonna fail at that too.

Not me shocked for a second when I hovered over the thumbnail and I thought you were interviewing ALR! I honestly feel bad for her. She is struggling so much and although I've never been her size, I've been severely overweight, trying everything I could and failing over and over. It really does have to come from her and finding what works for her. I hope she gets some counseling and this works for her. I don't watch her content because I don't want to give her views and promote what she's doing, but I would totally watch her weight loss journey!

Candy had a good video explaining her past. Her grandparents finally took her away from her awful parents when she was about four years old. She was essentially feral about food. I think Amberlynn likewise became the same way about food with her druggie parents. But Candy is a nice person and doesn’t try to hurt other people the way Amberlynn does. Amberlynn never developed empathy but did develop full blown narcissism. Candy is a normal nice person with food issues.

Totally agree with you on the volume of healthy snacks being a bad idea. I don't have BED but I do still have a habit of just eating too much when I'm bored, I need to make sure I don't have too many snacks around because I still have the bad habit of grabbing a snack on my way past or taking 2 of the individual servings. Losing weight and prioritising health, to me, is now just playing mind games with myself to get rid of the bad habits and keep me on the right track.

I know 2 people who got the surgery, and neither of them are better off. One of them, her personality changed so much, she became toxic and insufferable, and then she got pregnant and she gained back all the weight she lost. The other one didn't even try to adjust her diet, and she remained the same. I'm not saying it doesn't work, I'm saying without lifestyle changes, it will do nothing to improve their health.

Cholesterolynn Greed and diet culture in general remind me of the characters of the TV show _Gilligan's Island_. On that show, the characters tried to get off the island with so many crazy schemes, but none of them involved repairing, rebuilding, or replacing their boat. Cholesterolynn Greed and diet culture have tried so many crazy schemes for losing weight, but the idea of avoiding junk foods and eating plenty of healthy foods instead is off the table.

I used to buy big bags of cheetos, trail mix, pita chips, cheezits, ect when I got home I would break them down in servings in snack bags.. and then put them in a gallon size bag. So my kiddo could grab one or I could I'm not really a chip person, but if do grab a bag I will eat til I'm full. If I just have a snack bag that's it it's not tempting to keep eating.

'I care about my health, I really do!!' -> Buys all these unhealthy, unnecessary snacks. ??? She's not going to be able to get the surgery or even manage this with this mindset. She's proven time and time again that she 'fails' but really it's her not recognising that things like snacks need to be taken out of the equation. I know snacks can work for some, but I don't think it works for her. She needs SERIOUS changes, not 'healthy' junk food. Personally, I cut out snacks for the most part and it helped tremendously. I eat 3 meals, and if I start snacking, then I only continue to snack since they don't fill me up and then I've eaten so many more calories and feel like poo. I didn't replace anything really, I simply said this isn't the time for it. And if I eat something with the family or something like pasta, I watch my portions. It's hard to have that will power and discipline, but it's either you do or you don't. 'I feel like 2023 is a good year' is the same thing she's said every year lmao.

Amberlynn’s real issue is that she likes being massive and does not want to seriously lose weight. Until she figures out why she wants to stay so big and decides that she wants to change that about herself, she will continue to just bounce up and down on a weight loss teeter totter. Losing and gaining and losing and gaining but never going anywhere. Everything she does “to lose weight” is just for views and views mean money. She never really tries to make long-term changes. She starts thinking of excuses to go off the “diet” before she even starts. She does not want to stop her chronic overeating. She does not want to live without her takeouts and candy and cookies and ice cream or even just limit them to reasonable levels. She does not want to fill her plate with the kind of foods that will nourish her rather than kill her. She does not want to lose the four extra Amberlynns she is carrying around on her back. This talk about weight loss surgery is also just for views. She will find excuses not to do it, thankfully, because it is likely to kill her when she tries to “quit” after surgery. I doubt she would get past the pre-surgery liquid diet, though, even if she convinced some idiot to approve her for the surgery despite her lifelong problems with food that have never been resolved.

I personally have had VSG surgery. I do not believe that Amber should have it done. Not yet at least. She is not physically, mentally, or emotionally ready. People have the misconception that surgery is the "easy way." IT. IS. NOT. She is not in the place mentally for the sacrifices that need to be made. Especially for the first year. I can see her causing herself a leak, or worse, because she can not adhere to the diet. She failed Ozempic! And idk where she lives, but in NY state, they require a psychological evaluation. And they do NOT approve it for people with binge eating disorders
