What I really fear about Ambessa is her advantage state and neutral. Sure she doesn't have 200 years worth of stuff jammed into her kit but I fear the play patern she will bring is a problem. She gives out master yi vibes when it comes to advantage state, once she has the upper hand you are pretty much dead, there is no escaping and seeing how much she can regen energy and stay on target I really fear the fact that 1 mistake might be all it takes for you to get 0 to death. That alone wouldn't be a problem but when you see that she has both a sustainable way to dash in and out and pretty generous area coverage while getting a shield it really feels like she has a neutral game, and a good one at that... What makes hyper mobiles champs like Kalista, lucian or kai'sa balanced, or rather, not overbearing, is the fact that they are glass cannons, with very limited sustain/bulk and lockdown. Ambessa is a bruiser! And that comes with lower damage sure but also much, much higher survivability without counting the ult that can just bypass the main goal of teamfights, aka getting to the backline to shut down the ennemy carry! Sure she'll be hard to play but look at k'sante. It's not an excuse.

So even though she didn’t feel strong to you, I guarantee what’s going to happen is her numbers will be buffed for release. Numbers aren’t what makes a champion’s kit 200 years imo. It’s having 4 dashes in your basic abilities, built in % armor pen and Omnivamp, no real struggle with resources during active combat, and an ult that punishes a standard approach to combat like having front liners stand in front of carries. Just because her numbers are low doesn’t mean she’s not going to be a pain in the butt to play against.

To be a nerd and crunch some numbers I’ve calculated out the damage of her Q if you’re fighting a full build Ornn (5.4k HP, 555 Armor, and 267 MR for reference with Jak’Sho stacked). The build I’ve used for Ambessa is Trinity, Cleaver, Shojin, Sundered Sky, DD, and whatever boots you need for the sake of this example I used Steel Caps. You end up with 335 AD, 1.14 AS, 193 Armor, 67 MR, 60 AH (85 on basic abilities), and 380 MS. You end up with with a total damage ratio of 602 + 27.4% max health physical damage across both of her Q charges. Once you fully stack BC you knock the armor on Ornn down to ~390 so you’ve successfully reduced his 85% physical damage negation to 80%. Multiply that 390 Armor by the 30% pen of her passive and you end up with 273 Armor (73% physical damage reduction). With that we can finally calculate her best case scenario total ratio on Q assuming you and Ornn both full build decide to duke it out. Ambessa ends up with a total Q ratio of 138 + 6.3% max health physical damage. So tanky bois it’ll take her a while, other bruises with ~50% physical damage negation it’s gonna hurt but probably not completely nuke you, and ADCs/ Mages as usual it’s gonna hurt like a lot. Also for those of you need to skill shots to fight back like Ornn ult in this example good luck.

I think people are just overreacting to the whole dash in every ability “200 year” mentality when looking how she supposed to play in game, it reminds me of Kled. All the abilities want you to GO IN or DIE TRYING. With Ambessa she has the extra damage, shield, life gain and energy to help you get in and possibly survive the fight

I think the noticeable lack of damage is a decent trade off. For almost every thing else, except maybe make the Armor Pen scale so at 6 it's just kinda decent but if the game is long enough for her hit 16 then make it actually threatening. The scalings on her abilities are 'okay' at best so she'll likely be building health and AD, with minimal Armor and MR

The reason Kalista is difficult is because she's a squishy adc with no self peel and positioning is critical. Also having to juggle between dashing, attack moving and clicking the enemy since the dashing is tied to her autos. A bruiser having a dashing passive after an ability is not really difficult to play.

Interestingly enough, I don't see her dashes as a problem. Back when I play ML:BB (yes, I brought this game in this context), I remember playing with and against this character named Ruby back in 2017-2018 who has a similar tactic of dashing after ability cast. She isn't exactly a problem at the time. Granted, both games have their own design philosophy. But it seems like Ambessa can exist without being 200 years when handled properly. Also, Ruby can only dash 3 times total, can't life steal through basic attacks, and no long range dash. Thou, she has 2 hard crowd controls.

As an ADC main this champ looks like absolute hell. Basically unlimited dashes means you can't ever get close. Even with Champs like Jax, sylas, etc you usually can just stay away until they use their mobility. I think it's probably like playing against bruiser Katarina where she can always jump on top of you and you can never kill her. At least she doesn't have cc or cc immunity... Although I'm half expecting she can buffer with her jumps

The average ADC has between 500-600 range. So 3 dashes guarantee to close that gap and she has 3 unconditional dashes + a fourth if she hits her q. Even if you just run away and dodge every skill shot, the only way you can escape is Ambessa making a mistake. It's like kiting a lvl 16 Kassadin

Having played Ambessa myself, I find I completely agree with pretty much everything in the video. On paper she looks completely broken and unfair. In practice, everything in her kit feels justified to exist, even the omnivamp. She could use a tone-down but it’s been about 48 hours now and she’s already been nerfed three times.

It's only OP in bronze's head. Even if she dashes 7 times, lee sin Q can cover greater distance, faster, with less skill involved, easier, and he can even cancel it at any time. Lee sin can build full lethality and kill an adc in 0.5s, ambessa will just drop dead if she builds full damage.

It's really weird that a lot of people compared her with K'sante, when my first thought was also that she looked more like an evolved, more modern Riven, so seeing the combination of her with Sylas seems really fitting. I too, feel a bit weird about the healing, although the base amount is not hat high, what I feel interesting and very dangerous if not balanced correctly, is the fact that the omnivamp scales out of Lifesteal. I guess is to incentivize players to build Ravenous, maybe Bloodthirster, hell, maybe even BoRK. Although I also advocate that the healing may be a bit of an extra on her kit and she should be fine if they removed or reworked it, The passive itself sounds more fitting for a rune or item, I'm not sure about how it could be implement to not break the game, but having a way to give AD caster bruisers a way to build lifesteal and let them turn it into omnivamp sounds really cool, specially now that there are basically no Omnivamp items (at least not ones that just give you the stat out of the blue, without needing it to be enabled by certain conditions).

In the time I've played her on PBE, she seems rather fair for a champ with that much movement? Just as you said, she doesn't have any hard CC outside of ult and no insane burst like a Riven or Camille does. Also her ult one of the most satisfying to use in the game, blinking behind some unsuspecting mage or ADC and fucking their shit up is so cool.

I just wish they did a bit more with her weapon type. Also considering how she came across in Arcane, very grounded, strong and firm, making her a dashing champ makes no sense to me. As much as I love Ambessa and do think she is a great choice of arcane character for the game, I honestly would have preferred Sevika, we see a lot more from her at least so far and her fighting style and chemtech arm would have been really cool to play around with in game. But I guess we’ll probably see a lot more Ambessa in season 2 and probably less Sekiva, so the choice probably makes more sense after we get to see her fight in the show, but I really think adding Sevika was a missed opportunity

I cringed when I first saw her, but after I saw some gameplay (it was on summoners rift) she in fact doesn't seem overloaded. She will just be annoying to face.
