I have a hot take here. She *is* an assassin. She's energy type, has crazy AD ratios, very high mobility, an AD based shield, and supreme back-line access. Her kit probably favors bruiser builds right now, but I see base damages coming down and ratios going up in the future. In the meantime, she will be oppressive built with bruiser items instead of doing the job she should be doing, and assassin Ambessa is just going to be sitting there waiting for the inevitable nerfs to her base damages with increased ratios. Waiting for her chance to obliterate the back line like she's designed to do.

She has healing built into her ult, going assassin would be suboptimal because she would be too much of a glass cannon to be effective. She looks identical to Pantheon in build optimization because they both look like an assassin build would be the ideal, but in practice, both are way too squishy when built that way.

IMO the big problem is the ult goes too far by about half for how good it is. It's either that or it just goes off too quickly. You should reasonably expect to see her with ward coverage and space her, but that just looks impossible with that ult range and timing. The closest thing is of course Vi's ult, but you get that time to do SOMETHING before Vi gets to you. With Malphite, at least you get the chance to flash it, this just looks like it's impossible to play against without a spell shield since you get about 0.1 seconds to react, and spell shields are generally garbage.

However I was thinking if top, you'll probably see more ranged top laners and those who tend to counter dashes (poppy/cassio/vex). The reason for ranged is that the energy regen is tied to her aa and if she wants to dash to a champ she'll probably run a full rotation, get close but if kited, won't have a means to regen the energy to continue the damage rotation. It will be interesting to see how the player base learns to deal with her

I appreciate how Noxian her gameplay feels in the way of champs like Darius where she lands one ability and then sticks to you permanently, it’s just that while Darius does so through unbearable cc, she does it through unbearable movement (33:21). But between her lack of tanky-ness and inability to deal with most cc, I’d still take her over k’sante any day, and wouldn’t mind if they had replaced him completely (although that top lane matchup is gonna look *hilarious*). Honestly, I only wish that her abilities were at least a bit delayed and swingy, and to really nerf everything outside the q sweet spot. Most stat check issues top lane come from abilities that can’t miss, or ones where if they aim at least a little bit correctly you CANNOT dodge, although this principle does work a bit better on Ambessa. Making slightly delayed abilities would help with counterplay and also nerf what I think is the main issue with champs who have lots of dashes: how fast they can dash. That said she’s really freaking fun, and her gameplay both feels really smooth and looks just as chaotic and flashy as you’d imagine it’d be on the battlefield. I wasn’t a fan of her E at first cause it seemed like a low damage “nothing” ability, but the more I play her the more I love how much it aids the idea of her being this experienced yet reckless whirlwind of blades. Any Noxian warrior should see red as soon as they hit the battlefield no matter how seasoned they are, and my god they sell this perfectly. It’s beautiful orderly button mashing with the occasional secondary q. Chefs kiss.

Yeah, no. There are a lot of design contradictions here. Built-in armor pen means target agnosticity(you deal consistent damage against squishies and tanks), percentage damage further skews that towards tankier targets. This produces a timer effect like Vayne(stay X seconds in range, you die). HOWEVER: you can't dip out of range due to infinite dashes and godly initiate range from ult She isn't squishy either(shields have decent high cd, but the spell vamp is a huge problem) You may argue that energy economy is the counterplay, but you can't stop her from auto-attacking either and she gains range. I'd expect nerfs to spell vamp and energy refund amount.

She's gonna have the same problem that Atrox and Kayn had. there's nothing stopping her from building lethality. both of those champs got reworked because healing off of damage mean that the more damage you do the more you heal, then they became unkillable assassins. Dashes and her r range just means that she's great at target acquisition (unlike riven who also builds lethality sometimes). I do want to see how much damage she'll do with the 60% shred from r/grudge + full lethality. Probably will be a lot better than panth, he only had one dash(+ult) and they gave him a health scaling too.

Had my best league game ever with her yesterday. My very first 6 digit damage game. I had more than double the damage of any other player in the match. My team was struggling hard but I single handedly saved the game. Went 23/1/15 She's my favorite champ and even when they nerf her into the ground, I do hope they at least keep the core aspects of her kit so I can at least keep having fun. If they're going to balance her properly, one thing is Ambessa should not get 3 charges for her passive attacks. As an auto-weaving combo bruiser, players should not be rewarded for playing the champ incorrectly. If you dash 3 times and don't AA between dashes, you should lose out on the extra damage and resource regen.

Having like 4 dashes on her basic abilities makes her a pretty solid sion counter. You kinda are forced to short Q if you ever wanna damage her with it. Also the ult passive granting armour pen and her itemization with BC synergizing makes it a pretty solid counter pick. I imagine Sion is forced to go lethality with short Q's in order to have a chance with that MU. Oh and I just thought, if Sion ever ults away then Ambessa ult blocks it - and she's classed as 'unstoppable' during the cast; meaning Sion's ult either doesn't knock her up, or part of the knockup is eaten up by the unstoppable duration.

the traditional top laner tanks seem to be very under geared to perform against the new top laners who have a million dashes. By the time Sion did like 2 skills, Ambessa did 6-8 or more depending on the dashes and what not. The old characters are simply going to get overwhelmed.

just a few other champs mashed into her, Red Kayn and Aatrox, Percentage health damage on abilities with physical vamp passive Runs like GP and shyvanna Lee Sin, Energy back on auto attack after ability Pantheon and Darius, Flat percentage armor pen passive. Pantheon more because its the same number on ult passive Vi and K'sante obviously, kalista and Sylas obviously, Mini Fiora riposte with Riven dash shield Camille damage on outer edge of ability but they just like outer edge = more damage in most champs tho. Truly a smorgasbord of top lane champs mostly

the only thing that makes me think she wont be completely broken, is that she doesn't have any hard cc in her basic abilities, or dmg scaling with defensive stats. But the combination of %max health dmg and %pen(which makes her very easy to itemize into everything), a million dashes, no mana, and built in vamp, is insane.

Pretty sure her ult acts like Leona Q - it dashes to the last champion hit (not targeted). If an enemy champion was in it, but moved out of the way before it hit, it would pick the next closer champion that WAS hit to dash to. It's unlikely because, unlike Leona Q, the effect occurs very, very quickly, but it should theoretically work like that.

This champ is going to be super brutal. Players who can land the empowered autos for the energy regain are going to cook their opponents, and players who can’t are going to get rolled. I like the spacing and then line accuracy required in random by ability 1, I like the short duration of the shield, I like how the aoe is a multifaceted dash catalyst that either had to be used to catch up in a chase or deal damage in the short range (which is if it’s hittable your optimized Q range is not easy) and the ult is a neat parody of Yone. The champ isn’t too tanky for the damage it does, and point click CC just insta turns the champ off. I like how there’s a lot it can do, but it feels weird this and Ksante exist in the same game as champs like garen (who by comparison is super simple). This champ has cool design and I can see the weaknesses they built in, but it will absolutely face roll enemies when in the hands of people who can competently weave in autos. The energy economy of this champ should get needed if anything.

First of all, i did not even know that riot planned to put another champ. For what i am looking, she has the shyvanna's walk + the weapons lookalike of renekton + k'sante dashes AF and some thinga kinda reminds me of sylas animations. So to conclude, she is the definition of hell.

She has a lot of armor pen in his ult's passive, i think the BC isn't a good item on her, Serylda's Grudge could be slightly better. Since she scales only on AD and have a good sustain i think you should build items that give AD and armor or mr (Death Dance and Malmotius). I think a good build could be Eclipse, Ravenous Hydra, Death Dance, Malmortius and Jak'Sho if you want to be more tanky or Serylda's Grudge if you want to do more dmg. For the runes i think Bloodline or Haste are better than Alacrity. Sudden impact is a good choice but for a safer rune page Shield bash and Revitalize could be good too.

Can you do Attack speed and Crit Abessa? Items for example, kraken, essence river, experimental hexplate and cleaver for shredding armor, so you could actually assassin champs instantly like R then spam auto with dashing abilities. Or just go with Crit build and spam 3 abilities and delete someone in a second. And when charges on passive are full it gives 50 % attack speed and additional damage so yeah attack speed would be very good on her
