I really appreciate how thorough and analytical your review of this affordable rifle is. Really helped me make a choice.

I agree on the LER scoped. I have converted an SKS into a scout rifle, and it is the best thing ever. Albeit, I have a Ruger Gunsite Scout in .308/7.62×51, and I have an LER on it. I am very satisfied. However, my SKS Scout is a better use of the Scout concept.

I took my first deer with a SKS scout rifle...that was back when you could buy a crate of the rifles for less than $70 each.

@AmbGun Thank you for these thorough reviews on this gun. I bought one last year and absolutely love it. Eventually I’ll get a suppressor for it and take it hog hunting.

Awesome, I love to hear people doing cool stuff like hog hunting. Do you do the whole night or thermal vision thing? I think that would be a great way to become comfortable with the night.
@jarrenrochester18793 жыл бұрын
@@AmbGun I don’t have funding for thermal or infrared. Eventually I will want to get a thermal scope, it has advantages over infrared that I like. Currently I have a poor man’s night vision set up: a high powered flashlight mounted to the side picatinny rail. The flashlight is 500 lumens with a spot and flood setting.

My son bought a little handheld FLIR thermal scope that is pretty cool and not as insanely expensive as Thermal rifle scopes. I think it's a pretty useful tool for target detection without waggling around your rifle for target ID. I "knew this guy" back many decades ago that used to go poaching at night. No night vision, just allowing his eyes to adjust to make use of the light from the moon and the stars. Be sure to share some photos of your first hog hunt with the MVP Scout.

Not the ACOG...just expensive. Everytime I wanted another Weaver V3, I've found one on eBay.

@@AmbGun I generally find stuff on ebay to be super overprice
@AmbGun3 жыл бұрын
Yes, eBay is no bargain outlet. The last V3 I bought was listed for $300. I offered $200 and got it. I think the seller let it go because the V3 is low mag and doesn't have tacticool turrets. Still it wasn't but a couple of years ago that you could get a V3 on sale at Natchez for $159. I have a forthcoming video of a Vortex Viper PST 1-6 on my RDB. Pretty nice, but heavy and bulky....I'll probably sell it and get a T50 ACOG with a T51 mount. It sucks to spend that much, but that'll certainly end my chasing the perfect optic for the RDB.

@@AmbGun Last time I have seen you with an rdb you are still using red dot :P Update video coming soon?
@AmbGun3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really like the fast handling of the forward mounted red dot on the RDB. Vortex Viper video is probably two weeks out. Shooting from a bench or for just running a maze, it's great. Things get iffy when trying to simulate making optimal use of cover.

.338 lapua scout rifle anyone?☺
@AmbGun3 жыл бұрын
Didn't Jeff Cooper's daughter compete with a big bore scout? Maybe not the 338 but the Steyr 376. Still I bet someone has a 338 scout.

Are you going with a Scout scope? I'd like to try the Burris fixed power version. I had one on my Marlin Guide Gun years ago.
