The Ambient AQIN indoor sensor can be positioned anywhere in and around your home to monitor PM2.5, PM10, and CO2 concentration levels. Sends data to AmbientWeather.net where you can monitor and analyze the air quality. Send alerts. Compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The sensor is a high-quality Swiss-made Sensirion Particle Sensor. PM2.5 refers to particles that are 2.5 microns or smaller in diameter. PM10 refers to particles that are 10 microns or smaller in diameter. The Sensirion Particle Sensor uses laser scattering to radiate suspending particles in the air, then collects scattering light to obtain the curve of scattering light change with time. The microprocessor calculates equivalent particle diameter and the number of particles with different diameter per unit volume.
Note: The AQIN is not a stand alone sensor. It is only compatible with the Ambient Weather WS-2000 and WS-5000 Weather Stations.
The AQIN Wireless Indoor Particulate Monitor has a water resistance rating of IPX0 (for indoor use only; this product has no special protection from water).
With PM2.5 and PM10 sensors, water droplets reflect the light, and can result in a higher reading. This is characteristic of the inherent sensor design. The condition occurs when: Temperature - Dew point Temperature ≤ 2ş C (3.6 şF). Thus, when the air is nearly saturated, the data is invalid.
The PM25IN and AQIN use the same channel on the WS-2000, WS-5000 and OBSERVERIP2.0. Each receiver will only support one PM25IN or one AQIN, not both.

Thanks for reviewing the unit! 2 quick questions: 1. how quickly/accurately does the unit detect rain, and is there a way to create an alert once rainfall is detected? 2. How often do you need to change the batteries in the unit?

Seems to be pretty accurate with regards to the rain gauge. It updates frequently enough - I don’t have the manual on hand to get the specifics but it is on their website with frequency of updates. And yes you can create alerts based on how much rain you want it to alert to. Like if 1mm rain falls, to be alerted. Etc. 2. I haven’t had to change them. I think they say yearly but everyone’s mileage will vary on that. I’m using lithium batteries in my unit so they’ll work better for longer and also better performance in the cold

Does the soil moisture meter fail? Some reviews mentioned water infiltration into the unit itself, also unless it is the capacitive version the prongs may corrode. I would like to know what you have learned one year out. Thanks!
