started years ago with a Radio Shack WS200, after 10 plus years of trouble free operation i decided to upgrade and purchased an Acurite 5 in 1 station which lasted just a hair over 1 year. their customer service was poor at best. i know have an AmbientWeather WS-5000 with multiple type sensors and after almost 2 years, its been absolutely great and their customer service is excellent!

Super! Glad I picked up the latest model of AR. If feeding impatience for info is the only category in which AW beat out AR, it appears staying with AR was a good call

AW is by far more accurate than the Acurite station in my 8 years of testing both side by side. The Acurite reads extremely high temperatures in direct sunlight while the Ambient station reads accurate temperatures in all conditions. If accuracy is your most important attribute with a weather station, choose Ambient products.

If you reading " extremely high" you have a fan operating issue either it's not working or it's not working at proper RPMs, a properly maintained aspirating fan makes the 5n1 very accurate, do your maintenance.

I have a few 5n1s and all the fans operate perfectly. They all still read way too high (2 to 4 degrees) and if you do a simple search in WU in the summer months, you can spot all the acurite Station owners because the high temperatures stick out on the map displays like a sore thumb. AW stations are far more superior in accuracy in my real world testing them in a desert location in California.

A properly working fan will not read extremely high I've had three of them and I've worked on them a lot if you have an issue you have a placement problem or a fan problem period. You're not going to see mine 3 to 4 degrees higher

@user-zw7sl9ou6q all I can tell you is that side by side, the acurites read higher under direct sunlight conditions during the hottest parts of the summer days. If you live in a northern climate, you probably won't notice this but in the desert southwest, it's obvious. It's less noticeable in the winter months due to the low angles of the sun and colder weather.

I’ve had the Accurite model and it’s not near as accurate or as good as my current Ambient Weather WS2000.

AW is so much more accurate in my experience! Great brand for the price. My AW 1400-IP is 8 years old and going strong! Also have a 2902, 5000, and Davis VP2 with 24hr FARS
