Personally, I enjoy making a literal kill box, where you make a roofed room, fill it with wooden furniture or other wood stuff, and close the enemies in with walls with cheeky corner placements, but before that you throw a molotov in. They legit cook to death xD. (Thick stone or metal walls recommended)

Advice: Enemies need a target to hunt other than doors, I normally allow ease access to my power and farms, bits of outdoor worktables. Just more targets so they don't go crazy and hit everything.

Yeah, you need to put a path from the killbox into, say, your oil refinery. That'll give enemies plenty to target which will draw them into the killbox.

You can abuse the shit out of this by hiding indoors, so they spread out and start smashing shit, then popping out somewhere and then they attack you at a way lower intensity because they're not all bunched up in one place

A few tips : - I suggest moving back your turrets and adding a few sandbags in front of them - Raiders should be slowed down but by putting floors you make them faster :'D - I see you use minify so you should really use the patch that makes that walls can't be minified (or else when raiders flee they will take them lol) - Mod suggestion : Reinforced Walls from NECEROS (is 1.2 adds embrasures) and Bioreactors - A recreation room to cheer up smart robots

Mr.streamer, one thing to keep in mind with kill box strategy. You need an open path to the middle of your base from the kill box for pathing priority to deem your kill box the most effective route. Problem can be fixed by holding a couple doors open.

Psssst. If you didn't see the last one, my dude, the Allow Tools mod will allow you to click an ore node, right click the mine option, and then prime every piece of that resource in that place for mining.

Got 3 new ones from some bros from a couple videos ago, one of Amphs ideas expanded upon, and two of my own creation (but have been done before). And Amph, if you read this, then feel free to copy it and put it in a .txt or on the discord server, I'm not sure where to put it in there. Putting this in every comment section will get real old real fast, and I dont feel the format would be good for the suggestion thing on discord. Perhaps a tab on discord where only the moderators could post, I could send them a .txt containing this and updated versions? Whatever you feel though, I'll keep writing them anyways, cheers. If anyone has any cool colony challenge ideas tell me in the comments and I'll add them to this list (try to format it as I have), I feel we should give Amph some ideas for future colony's, as with all the new mods he's installed he'll hopefully feel alot more engaged in the game and play for awhile. I'll also scour the comment section for any I can find. If amph agrees I can post these on the discord in a dedicated list or something. "Rimemon (pokemon) Playthough", Creator: ILACKCREATIVITY (expanded upon by me) Gotta tame them all? And then use them to rip apart raiders, mechs, bugs, and other animals? Sounds good to me. Ash would be so proud. MODS: All the mods you can get that add different animals, maybe a pokemon one if u can find it, but I feel itll be alot better with animals built around the rimworld universe. Maybe a animal stat leveler if it exists. Also any you want. RULES: ● Use The Rich Explorer scenario ● Change the scenario to remove the random animal, and give a starting predator of your choice instead ● Your starting colonist has a backstory that makes him a pacifist (no melee or shooting) but he has 20 in animals. Balance other stats ● Having new colonists is allowed, but they must have either a high animal stat (over 8) or be pacifists (no melee or shooting) ● Only Rimemon may attack anything, whether that be other animals or people ● Animals arent meat, they're meat shields! No eating meat ● A permenant base is recommended, but having other colony's to search for more animals is allowed ● Your allowed infinite Rimemon, but choose wisely as to what your first 6 are, they will be your babies (more on this in the end goal) ● If any of the original 6 Rimemon die you must recover their corpse and bury it, and later dig it up when the ships done to take it to a glitterworld Rimemon center. Failure to recover the cadaver means you must execute 3 of your other Rimemon that arent the core 6 out of strife. After the tears have been shed you can promote a new animal to the core 6 END GOAL: Your first six "pokemon" have been your pals from the very beginning, it's only fair that they alone travel with you to the stars. In other words, the first 6 pokemon you have are the only ones who life has value, and when your finally done with your pokemon rimworld adventure you can build a ship and take off back to your glitter world with your new best friends. "Colony of "assholes"", Creator: Vean Studio (expanded upon by me) Have you ever seen Spaceballs? If you have then you know what an asshole is, and you probaly are one in your heart. So why not have a bunch of asshole escapees stuck together on a faraway rimworld together with nothing but each others anger to keep them going. We generally see Amph play with characters that have no negative traits because it's really annoying to have them, but they can really spice up the gameplay with how you have to work around them. So let's make it very spicy with all of them at one time. MODS: Mods that add extra traits that make pawns over aggressive, rude, or just plain "assholes" to be around. Also any you want. RULES: ● Find a cool escape scenario on the workshop (or make a special Amphibian patent one) and make it give 5 colonists ● You may choose stats, but each has to have at least 4 different "asshole" traits (these include ones that make colonists sad (depressive), annoying (annoying voice), angry (Bloodlust), and just generally a bad person (cannibal)). All vanilla "asshole" traits must be used at least once, mod ones can fill in blanks. I counted 17 "asshole" traits, you can figure out which ones ;) ● Anyone is allowed to join, they just might not like their new neighbors too much ● Your too rude to have any freinds, you have to do everything in your power to make every faction on the Rimworld hate you as much as possible ● Animals are allowed, but no bonds END GOAL: You've ruined the lifes of your captors, you've ruined the lifes of everyone on the Rimworld, now you can take to the stars to ruin everyone elses day! In other words, only once every nation on the Rimworld hates you can you finally build a ship and escape. "Two Trick Pony Colony", Creator: Cheesy Dude (expanded upon by me) Ever get tired of your colonists being able to do everything? Probaly not. But who cares? I most certainly dont. So let the pain begin. Saw this comment a while ago on one of Amphs videos and wanted to put it here, he seemed like he liked the idea of having a colony of people who could only do a few things (Hes a masochist). MODS: The mod that makes it so skills dont degrade, and others that can rework them slightly. Also a mod that makes it so you can gurantee that all pawns in the world have 0 in all stats but a random 2. And any you want. RULES: ● Find a cool scenario on the workshop that gives 6 pawns ● Use a mod or the console to set all stats to zero except for 2. These skills start at 8 and have burning passions ● Anyone is allowed to join ● Good luck:) END GOAL: Your colonists can only 2 do things, theres no possible way they could ever build a ship. They have to rely on some high power to rescue them. In other words, you must befriend those of higher skill values than you (royal shuttle) to come and save you from impending doom. "Amph Chosen Colony", Creator: Me:D It's not often we get to see amph do a video where he just plays some Rimworld how he wants to play it (like the vanilla rimworld royalty one) without a gimmick. Granted he probaly really enjoys playing different challenges, but I feel that watching him in his raw and unbridled element would be a very cool experience, especially if his colony lasts a good 10 or 20 years. MODS: Any you want, if you want a mod that removes infestations, go for it. If you want one that adds catgirls as a race, then sure, why not. RULES: ● Only rule is no cheating, I know it can save some time but it really takes me out of the experience (not sure if other people have problems with it when youtubers cheat) I'm not too worried about you doing it though as the only time you've ever done it was to give us an bitchin ending to a colony that couldnt realistically get everyone to space END GOAL: Build a ship? Call in some royals? Whatever your feeling. Have fun! "Robot Butchers Colony", Creator: Amph (expanded upon by me) A colony of brobits attempting to create a brociety wearing human leather hats sounds like a brosmashing (gross) time. Have fun! MODS: Obviously the robot tiers mod, and any others you think would work like maybe cyborgs or cybernetic animals, and misc robots+++. Plus any you want. RULES: ●Find a scenario on the workshop that starts with 3 pawns plus some other fun gimmicks ● Start with 2 Android Tier 1s and 1 android Tier 3, plus a roomba ● You are only allowed to use fleshy sources for resources plus your fellow machines. No crops, wood, or anything plantlike. ● All bodies must be skinned and either consumed or turned into wares to sell ● Animals are allowed ● Only other robot pawns are allowed ● Prisoners are allowed to be taken but only for the transformation into a cyborg or for ransom ● If a biological pawn is forced into your colony or gotten from a random event they have to be immediately executed END GOAL: Create a robot society to rival Detroit, and last at least 10 years. Once the 10 years are up you may build a ship to then take to the stars.

Your videos are so great and interesting. But your voice is so soothing, it puts me to sleep. Doesn't help I watch them late. Love the vids, and don't stop! And I'd recommend replacing part of your wall of your kill box walls with sets of doors so your people and guests can leave without going through it letting you place traps and stuff on the path of you desire. Also makes it so it's quicker in and out. Make them out of the strongest stuff you got so ai are lest likely to go through. And for even more damage make your turrets in the shave of a v staggering them. Have your colonist firing line at the tight spot of the v to kill the ones who make it through. Wooden floors and fire makes things interesting. Especially with a roof.

Pathing issue fix: so currently the insects are trying to smash their way into your base because you've sealed up your base inside a complete wall, to fix this issue all you have to do is keep that door at the end of your kill box permanently open therefore creating a path that the insects can take to enter your base (also build a wall and door around your oil rigs to stop fire spread, especially if you force open the door im talking about)

Hey! Im doing the same challenge in my world and I have a few tips. The Bots are amazing to have. Get a crafter, builder, and multiple haulers and you wont need android at all. Be careful lobotomizing sunny, because that has a very high death rate. Look into getting the I100, I300, and I500 which can store skills and hack androids to make them join your side. The skill saving is pretty great, because you can make new colonists maxed out with enough work. Its great. I love the series and I cant wait to see more.

Good tip: You should switch out the concrete in your killbox for mud, if you have that mod. (If not, just soil is better.) If you have, barbwire is also pretty good. Add a second entry, build like an airlock for your robots so they don' have to go through there. Concrete give a good boost to walking speed, as you know. That also counts for your enemies, reducing their time in the box.

A few tips for your killbox. Force target your Flame turrents to the center so they don't burn your turrets. Save defensive positions for your colonists so you only have to hit that hotkey (t) for them to go there automatically. Save a raid zone incase you want to keep production going. Expand your Sandbags out slightly from the exit to your killbox. Finally but most importantly put a airlock set of doors as an exit somewhere for productivity reasons.

The new killbox looks good. Keep the doors to your base open so that enemies will continue to path into your killbox. If all doors are closed then they may find an alternative quicker route to get into your base generally homing in on your bedrooms. Also, if you research Deep Drilling you will unlock a much larger oil deposit and may be able to reposition your oil drills to a new area.

Kill boxes feel like cheesing IMHO destroys the excitement of raids into some kind of automated defense with close to zero threat. Your strapped together menagerie of stuff was much better entertainment. Sure it will be sad if your colony dies but its fun to watch :D Thanks for the content none the less.

You probably want a proxy base set up outside, fortified and kept with that rocket turret and some auto-cannons with line of sight on the OUTside of the front of your base. Those rockets will do more damage to the inside of your own base and turrets than anything if a stream of enemies comes through the door in your killbox. Can turrets shoot through embrasures? Either way, some sandbags lined up in front of the turrets will protect them some from return (and friendly) fire. Loving the rimworld content! EDIT: There are some materials that make traps with very high armour pen, so spamming them in and around the killbox could be very effective! Maybe a nice long trapped hallway with turret covering fire, glorious glorious patterns of overlapping covering fire.

I want to mention that putting concrete causes your enemies to move faster as well as your colonist, you may want to replace it with something else for your killbox or they'll get through and reach your turrets faster.

Set up a "Safe Zone" area and then when a raid comes you just go to the *Schedule* tab and switch area for those androids, which you do not want in combat. They will immediately stop doing whatever they have been doing, if it is outside this area, and they will rush there. You can easily switch areas from the *Schedule* tab for many androids at once. Just click on the area name next to the first android, hold down mouse button and drag downward across the others.

In my experience a killbox is better off not being floored so that the enemies coming through are slowed down by the terrain. You could even reinforce this method by filling the killbox with mud or something of the likes. Enemies will also start attacking the walls if they don't have a direct path to at least one of your colonists. If you do want to keep all of your colonists inside whilst still having the enemies funnel through the killbox you can just keep the door open to your base and have someone at the ready to close it just in case. I'm enjoying the series and I hope some of this helped.

What i do is mine out entire outer perimeter of the map and build 3-wide deep water so nothing can pass except on one spot... and that spot is pretty much impervious. It's blatantly cheaty, but for the right mindset, pretty fun. love watching entire 50+ large armies getting annihilated in seconds. and no wall repairing :)

You should set a "Getting raided" home area so your bots don't try to sweep the kill box during a firefight. Basically when the raid starts just restrice everyone to the home area minus the kill box.

So in order to fix the pathing for the kill box there needs to be a direct route into your main base stock pile room from the kill box without closed doors or walls in the way. You can either remove the doors if you feel confident in your defense or set them to hold open and make someone open them during the raid and close them at peace time, tho that will take a bit of extra micro management. This is the reason why I went of kill boxes personally, don't care for the extra faf of locking doors

You'll save your colonists a TON of time if you put a door in the outer wall that bypasses the killbox and sandbags. Enemies won't attack the door if they have an open path to take (the killbox).

2:20 you actually could create better kill box by terraform some mud tile into deepchest water, ibelieve it saves more resources and grants you best movement debuff. by combining it with deep water, you could create narrow spiral path that force the ai to go through the deepchest water, ez kill, plasteel and titanium reserved for other priority.

I think one of the mods you have might be the careful raids mod which makes enemies avoid areas where they have died before. So they avoid the entrance since others have died there

i cant wait for the moment he start building literal terminators and start wiping out settlement and leaving no survivors. it would be wise to make little pillboxes on the edges of the map, so as soon as they come in, they are met with initial resistence that can stagger or stop their advance for a while and give you time to prepare counter attack.

I think a wall of embrasures a 2 blocks from the front of the turrets will help keep them from attacking them right away

Giving enemy better movement... Yes concrete all (don't) Cover the killbox in mud Also you might consider a back dore so your colonists donot need to go through the kill box evey time

Getting your hands on a slurrypede would be a swell idea. They give a lot of absolutely awful quality food (worse than nutrient paste) and since your robots don't care so much about food it'll all be useful.

Oh yeah the dangerous map playthroughs. I remember i once played kriegers in a toxic fallout. Sieges just solved themselves.

You should cover the floor of your killbox with all those marble chunks. Slowing down the units and preventing others from standing still on them.

Yeah, it also doesn't "help" that you have the smarter AI attack mod, makes them avoid killboxes if you have wall spots they can breach

I have an Omni-bot named Jeremy on my game. Not really sure why it's named that, but he's my crafter. Though a tier 5 android crafts things faster than the Omni-bots I think.

You should have a bunch of autodoors near your killbox so your colonists can go outside quicker.

This is my favorite new Rimworld playthroughs channel. I used to watch trmplays but not anymore as I got tired of waiting so long for episodes to update only to get weird League of Legends videos and Rimworld series never getting finished! Build a door at the entrance of the killbox so that it can keep the heat of the fire in. This way the insects and raiders will be debilitated by heatstroke while your androids will hold through it perfectly fine
