Hey folks! I'm in awe of Dubwise's mods - including, but not limited to the mint menus, the rimefeller oil production, and bad hygiene. Seriously, I was missing out on a lot before this, though might not go without them again awhile. For anyone with high-fidelity sound setups, apologies for the buzzing from about 5 minutes that persists for a bit - I've been dealing with strange audio interference for the last couple weeks and I've been procrastinating to get things figured out with my cable management, though every time I move my foot underneath my desk, it causes the sound. Otherwise, hope this playthrough sparks some ideas!

I love how you talk in Sonny's perspective, it really gives a story teller vibe. The entire point of Rimworld is to tell a story, and with your format and voice, you just subconsciously lean in, like listening to a campfire story. I got into your content in the 100 colonist series, and feel like you have evolved from level 30 mob, to level 70 lord. Still room to grow, yet a large improvement none the less.

I love it when people lean into the "personal" aspect of Rimworld. A lot of KZbinrs seem to kind of ignore it as they're only focused on the more meta stuff, and if you're not looking for the story detail, it can get completely missed. One time one of my mvp colonists died, they buried him in the tomb, and then had a funeral; but the mvps fiancee (they were literally just going to get married) was the only person to not go to the funeral and she spent the whole funeral sitting in her room praying. The funeral ended, and she came out of her room and went into the tomb to be alone with her fiancee. I know that most of that was chance stuff, but that kind of spontaneous creepy-level story detail saturates this game and it's so easily missed if you're not looking
@hbombdotcom4 жыл бұрын

if you're staying with flamethrowers for Killbox 2.0, you might add a band of wooden floor around the entrance to the killbox: it stays burning for way longer, which means the flames on the ground are bigger, which means enemies catch fire easier.

Why not just move the walls up a bit where you had the wells originally and wall off the route to the killbox, effectively sealing your chemfuel production off from the entrance? Great series, btw. I loved the Robodaddy series from Roll's channel and this is a cool spinoff from that idea, not limited to the single colonist but expanding on the automation/android idea. One of my favorite types of defenses I came up with was creating a giant spiral around the entire map. In just about 3-4 loops of spirals enemies tend to starve/give up before they even reach the main entrance of the base, and then just slowly walk back outside, sometimes dying of starvation. Raiders don't attack the walls as long as a colonist is attackable via pathing (although they will randomly set wooden walls on fire while walking through, so non-flammeable walls are kind of required). Although, another problem I ended up running into is, that wildlife also ended up starving. Boomalopes in particular sometimes just randomly exploded and made holes in the walls, which is less than ideal Further, I think the AI may rocognize a large amount of walls, as I did have a more frequent amount of just drop pods dropping on top of the base, rather than raiders attacking from the outside

My dude, sandbags only slow enemies down when they get on the first one, so you should build them like this: [S] [E] [S] [E] [S] (E - empty, S - sandbag) to make enemies constantly climb on and off. Same with stone/metal chunks. You could probably even put traps in the empty spaces. Other than that, good job with the colony! 👍

2 things I think would help. Double or triple thick your outside walls that will deter the enemies from mining through them. Also since you have so much fire: seal in your kill box to make it a room with doors. Once all the organic enemies are inside, close the doors and let the heat roast them.
@iamnotjcook4 жыл бұрын
You should block in the fire killbox with a held-open door so that as they burn, you can seal them in to be cooked in an oven-esque fashion, then vent the heat so you don't burn to death as you collect their bodies

One of the things i noticed you really need to do is set different zones, such as raid, air drop, inside, and such so that you dont have the issues of your workers constantly running into the front lines during a heavy extended fight. If you don't like having to constantly set your pawns manually each time during a raid, the mod, Better Pawn Controls, allows you to set policies that saves pawns zones, foods, and schedules.

The eternal feud between the bugs and the robots. If you think about it... they aren't too different from one another. Each is a sort of automated hive mind, with a hierarchy within. As with each android, each bug has a purpose within their hives. Sonny is, in a sense, the "queen bee" of his hive. However, on this Rimworld, there can be no peaceful co existence. Which can survive? The technological might of the machines, or the sheer numbers of the bugs? for there can only be one victor in this war for survival.
