Students in the St. Ambrose Academy Summer Workshop spent one week learning about advertisements, marketing, writing, pre-production, acting, filming, and editing in order to create a 15-30 second commercial for their "clients" at Backflip!
Curveball: after the initial pitch, the client needed the team to include a different kind of product than initially requested.
Challenges/Comments According to the Group: the rain! They tried to use moments when rain was lighter but still had to work with it. The short time was also a constraint - 30 seconds goes by really fast. This team loved the use of wider and closer shots to make it interesting and convey the message.
One audience member said it looked like it could really be on tv. Another said that they couldn’t even tell that it was actively raining during shots so the group did a great job of working around the unpredictable weather.
