( www.EverymanTri.com ) Most people know how to run. But do most people know how to run like an Olympian? In this fun and informative video former Olympian Joanna Zeiger and her training partner Brandon ambush runners in a park in Boulder Colorado for an extreme run makeover. You've probably heard of fashion and home makeovers but perhaps not run makeovers. Joanna and Brandon pick random runners at a Boulder, Colorado neighborhood park and show them how to run like an Olympian. Check out his how to video if you are looking to take your training and running to the next level.
You can also check out (racereadycoaching.com) for more useful running tips and drills.

This was a real help to me. Within an hour after watching it I was out on my run, increasing cadence, breathing easier and feeling quicker, Thank you for posting it. Next week I will use what I learned in a 3 mile race on thanksgiving.

I counted my cadence last night. Since I was focusing on it I ran one of my faster miles, but it tired me out and my 2 and 3 miles were slower then normal. I will continue to work on it. I am a slow old guy who just started running a few month ago. I really enjoyed the videos. Thank you.

You guys are awesome. I have seen all your youtube videos. And it is so amazing how it really works. Lack of knowledge leads to lack of success. And helping others with your knowledge helps others succeed. Thank you.

Great videos, seen all and incorporated the advice. Although when I try to increase cadence, I am not able push off as much. So how do I balance the push off with the high cadence?

I train with a 200 run cadence, for sprinters you need to max out your cadence and I recommend over 200 during training for anyone who runs.

please can you give an advice about how to breathe while running?
@phoenixmission
@phoenixmission 7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I gave up trying to breathe through my nose when running, specially when I'm doing it fast or start feeling tired during the last miles of a long run, or a tempo run. I simply let my body make the choice naturally, and it was breathing in and out through my mouth. Besides, the fact that someone feels exhausted, is because your lungs and legs are not yet ready for a certain distance or pace. After running for three months straight, 3 times per weeks, my focus and stamina skyrocketed, and not because of breathing.

What about cadence rates and how they vary and must vary running trails and especially during climbs? Do you guys still preach 180 on trails (technical stuff too) and during climbs? From my experience, it gets to a point with some climbs where power hiking becomes far more efficient. I also just think that I can keep this cadence on the road ( but generally can't as I fatigue) but it's hard to maintain much consistency on the trails which are at all technical or with undulating climbs. Thoughts, guys? Interweb people?

+mujin70 I think a better advice (From what I experienced, and what I read too) is to think about increasing cadence 5-10% from what your current rate is, and not fixate on the magical 180 number. Height places a role on cadence, as taller people tend to have lower cadence. So the takeaway point is trying to aim for a higher rate from the current one, and to do it gradually, not by jumping from 154 to 180, because that will create problems rather than solving them.

i like how he says that they're good runners but they're both heel striking.

You can still be a good runner even though you are a heel striker. Many professional runners are heel strikers. I think he said they are good runners because he saw how effortless they were running and judging by their bodyfigure and workload per weak. :) It could be much worse.

Running cadence is the number of times your feet hit the ground in one minute. It can be for the combined left and right foot taps, or for a single foot. Usually it is expressed in the combined form.

I watched Vitaly's extreme homeless makeover and came to this video thinking these guys would take the athletes to a salon, give them a haircut, buy them Nike shoes and running gear and see them smile!
