Thanks for this. It's all about perfecting quality and technique; If I could do that and with God I could win it all so could anyone. If your times are bad, you've god bad technique like I used to.

I’m enjoying the bike so far kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

Well, if you start out by saying that all the gels you've tried leads to an upset stomach, then what would the rationale be behind making your own gel with one of the primary ingredients from the commercial gels (i.e. maltodextrin)?! Makes absolutely NO SENSE!

If kept in the fridge, how long do you suppose these gels would last? My concern is the banana going bad. I love these gels, taste good and really help me get through those tough workouts.

Julie is such an awesome athlete and coach. She cares so much about everyone who puts in the effort. I used to train with her group in Boulder. One day, she told me that I was fried and needed to get out of the pool. She cares about the people around her and this moment is awesome proof.

A better cadence makes less noise. The feet glide rather than stomp. You can hear good cadence.

Heel striking is ok at higher speeds and good for a 1minute warm-up to get the calf muscles loose. Heel striking will occur no matter what during long distance runs. When you get tired, your stride elongates forcing you to heel strike. Running faster will naturally increase your stride; avoiding heel strikes at this point is tough especially during longer runs. I think posture or proper upright form is crucial at this point in regards to mechanics.

Hope I can add to this conversation! Over the years, I've come to understand that there are some common foundational issues that set swimmers up for a myriad of different aches, pains, and injuries. These foundations are often hidden unless you go hunting for them but ultimately revolve around restrictions at the hip, shoulders, neck and low back above all else. I have a video with some effective stretches targeting these issues to decrease injury risk and improve swimming performance! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmbcmKR-aNWdb6M
