Can someone tell me how the same people (not just AMC hosts) hate the way the wolverine movies depicted deadpool and silver samurai, but defend the mandarin 'twist' from iron man three. Didn't know a thing about either of these three from the comics going in, but the mandarin as a joke felt the most underwhelming especially since every trailer was getting me ready for a ben kingsley battle.

Gotta say, i REALLY enjoy Johns reviews. Not only because i agree with him most of the time & because we have the same tastes. But because when it comes to how he sees a movie, he is able to get past all the little BS moments in a flick & evaluate it as a a WHOLE. Not let 15% of a movie, ruin it 4 him. Just cuz the whole movie may not be perfect, that certainly does not ruin it for him at all. One of the biggest reasons i enjoy watching AMC over all others on here, is his objectivety. Keep it up

Hey guys, thanks so much for doing this review! Just a couple of thoughts I had while watching it. First, I totally get him leaving at the end of the movie. That's who Wolverine is, he's the wandering cowboy, who shows up, saves the day, gets the girl, then rides off into the sunset looking for his next great adventure. Also, I appreciated the ninja scene we got. It looked like a direct homage to his dream sequence in Claremont/Millers miniseries, just a beautiful scene. So yeah, loved it.

Great review guys. Love hearing your insights. The one omission that I felt was obvious in this movie was the entire omission of wolverine's samurai background. As a Wolverine fan, that's a major omission, especially for a film that takes place for the most part in Japan. I was more than a little apprehensive about this movie but the poster that drew me in was the one that shows Wolverine perched on a building with a samurai sword in one hand and exposed claws on the other. Missed opportunity

I don't agree at all with the grades of yours. I was really disapointed with this movie. Maybe because of my expectations was as high as they were, made me hate it. I total agree, Viper, did not need to be in it. But bottomline, I did not like the overall story at all, well at least not the way it was setup. I think it was so sad, that they did not use The silver samurai more, I really looked forward to see him, and was disapointed that he first got introduced in the end scene. I think the story was really sloppy made, and for me, the story is the most important thing, and this story just did not work for me. Based on the trailer, that wolverine was going to be in Japan and there were going to be samurai's, I really hoped that it was going to be something like 'The last samurai' just with Wolverine. I missed an actual villain through the movie, and that comes back to the silver samurai, which was only very little in the movie. So as you can see, I was not thrilled about this movie, and maybe my dissapointment were my own fault, but it has so much unfilled potiential. The only plus with this movie was Jackman, who delivers an excellent performence, and made Wolverine cool as always. I think I will see it a second time here later today, and consider you thoughts on it, and now I don't have any expectations that can't get ruined.

I really enjoyed this movie immensely. I agree with John and company that Hugh Jackman really made the movie. Much like how RDJ owns Iron Man, Jackman owns the Wovlerine. The last sequence does hit a comic book feel but never really took me out of the movie. Loved how Jean was used thoughout the entire movie and makes me believe that the Pheonix will be back in Days of Future Past. End credit scene was classic as well.

I must say I agree with the crew's view on the Logan-Mariko relationship, it was not handled as good as it should have been, and yes, I did read the comic on which this movie was based. In MY opinion, I think that the problem here was not the script but the actress, Tao Okamoto. Why do I think this? Well, because Jackman had GREAT chemistry with ALL of his female co-stars in every movie he ever made: X-Men movies, Swordfish, Van Helsing, Prestige, The Scoop, Kate & Leopold, Wolverine Origins, Prisoners. Maybe it is just me, but Okamoto's performance was a bit or more emotionless, like she was uncomfortable or something, I don't know whether she is a quality actress or not, because I haven't seen her anywhere else expect here. And, being a guy who has seen about 3000 movies, maybe even more, made in the last 50 years or more, I think that this analysis is, at least, partly accurate. But, like I said, it is just my opinion.

I really liked Wolverine The Movie, but I have to say you guys picked out the flaws that I saw as well [but was happy to overlook]. One thing you failed to mention [shame, shame] was how AWESOME Rila Fukushima was as Yukio. Jackman's chemistry with her was great and her performance was one of the best things about the movie, IMO, especially when you consider it was her first serious movie role. I could so see her in a spinoff movie...

“I do think we will have a slightly more violent version… let’s say an unrated, a bloodier version. There’s about ten or 12 minutes of scenes that I’d love people to see, that we’ll produce some kind of longer version of the movie at some point on Blu-ray or whatever. There’s another great scene with Hiro Sanada and a much more elaborate battle with ninjas from the third act that is a pretty huge battle sequence that you’ll see.” James Mangold

Definitely this movie is an improvement from the origins one that came out in 2009. I just love the continuity aspect of by bridging it with X-Men The Last Stand. I am also glad that Jean Grey's presence was felt throughout the film and not just a cameo. I loved the the fact that it kind of gave that closure ending for Logan and Jean. This movie is a character driven story.

Two things that were overlooked. One; The symbolism of Wolverine having to tear his heart out to heal. Two; The long term purpose of the bone claws. In the X-men movies it was shown that Wolverine could easily take out Sentinels by himself. Now he has been brought down a notch so that the Sentinels will seam like more of a believable threat for DoFP.

Wolverine Extended Cut has the longer Ninja fight scene, the explosion and everything else we saw in the trailer, just a reminder. As for the movie as a whole, the BEST (so far) performance of Jackman as Logan was here. And, OF COURSE, it is WAY better than the Wolverine Origins. Either way, Jackman's talent as an actor, his charisma, screen presence, EVERYTHING about him makes ANY movie WAY better than it would have been with a different, well less talented, less charismatic actor, to be precise. Also, BEST END CREDITS SCENE EVER!!! COMPLETE JOYGASM!! Days of Future Past coming in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!! YAAAY!!

That's the point I was going to make. The bubbling face was definitely not "just gone in the next edit," or was some horrible mistake in the editing. Viper absolutely spit on him again to heal him. She scared him into getting his job done right and then took the wound away so he could; so whatever Viper's powers are in the comics, she definitely could secrete a healing solution in this film. And I think you may be getting hung up on was she needed, when there's NO reason she shouldn't be there.

To me it makes sense that adamantium can cut adamantium and an adamantium bullet can penetrate Wolverine's adamantium skull in the origins movie. Just like diamond can scratch diamond. All diamonds don't have the same hardness, likewise all adamantium isn't equal either.

Love the show. With the healing powers (~25:00), my understanding from the movie is that Viper had control of varying compound, in addition to resistances to toxins. So she blew acid or whatever onto 'Head Ninjas' face to threaten him, but if you notice she blew a second time onto is face, and after this he was healed. This makes me think that she blew a healing compound onto his face. So the healing came from her rather than an actual healing power. Let me know what you think!

Wolverines Regenerative powers healed his bone claws back. He has always had bone claws.. Thats why he got Adimantium claws, because the Adamantium that covers his skeleton, covered his bone claws too. After his Metal claws were cut off, he grew back his bone claws.

Why didn't you guys talk about the fight with Mariko's father? One of the best moments in the film was his resurrection from his 'death' and then that fight. When asked "What kind of monster are you?", his response of: "I'm the Wolverine" totally sells that entire sequence.

As you guys said in the video, Viper did not need to have mutant powers, and yuriko (or whatever the other mutants name was) was really bad done, power wise. She was able to predict like 1 thing in the whole movie, and with all the other times her powers should have worked, they just ignored it and didn't mention how much she sucks at using her powers. I only recall her using her powers proper once in the beginning, and can't remember what it was, but I remember it for using the move on the plot

I have to agree, give it an 8. I just want to put out incase it wasn't already. The scene with the Viper character in the alley with he head ninja, when she spits on him and his face boils up, and then the next cut it isn't there, was because she spit on it a second time and caused it to heal back up.

I love Japanese culture, so the first 2/3 of the film was pure joy for me. I especially enjoyed watching the development of Logan's relationships with Yukio and Mariko (I'd like to see both of them in another X-Men movie). I was hoping for a different ending, though, perhaps with Shingen or Harada becoming the Silver Samurai. I also thought the ninja battle was anticlimactic (what happened to the fight in the trailer?). Overall, I really liked the movie and look forward to seeing it again.

My theory on Jean Grey is that she's gone for good. I feel that in a way she was stuck on Earth as a Ghost haunting Logan. So when Logan says he no longer needs her she sets her self free and joins the spirit world. So in a way they both freed eachother and can now be over on.

You guys forgot to mention how the PG 13 rating was taken to the limit especially with that entire scene of when Wolverine takes that thing that viper put inside of him out by grabbing it with his hand and ripping through his skin. Also I think that the most epic thing they could have done when wolverine was shot by all those arrows near the end was to grab the wires from the arrows and pull all the ninjas towards him. It would have been a bit over the top but still pretty awesome.

I'd give it a solid B. I think personally it was the best X-Men film to date (though I've been really disappointed in all of the previous films). This movie was better than X-men Origins, it had slow parts, the fighting scenes were good and shocking with the last one. I was so glad to see Famke Janssen again, because I just didn't like her role in X-men The Last Stand or that movie (which I think needs a remake to be more of the Phoenix saga) and I must say the extra ending scene really made this movie for me. Seeing Professor X again made me so happy and hyped for DoFP.
