It is frankly mind-boggling that AMD didn't spend the time making an SDK for people to use, and instead chose to double-down on a technique that will cost them more time and money.
@sturmbnnuy Жыл бұрын
That's simply because AMD sells subpar tech for cheap, that's their only selling point: the cheap price, its ironic because their price reflects their subpar product, and people still lick their boots.

Just for added context on Nvidia's support limitation for older cards: Nvidia dropped support overall for cards older than the 900 series a couple years ago. So when you look at it, Reflex is supported on ALL cards that still get driver support from Nvidia. Which makes AMD's strict limitation to only 7000 series cards even stranger. Surely it can't be a hardware issue if 10 year old nvidia cards have no problem handling something like this, right?
@dominikp.606 Жыл бұрын
1080 Ti also isn't supported on many games.
@DarthZombie510 Жыл бұрын
@@dominikp.606 on the driver level, it is. Owners of 1080Ti still receive driver updates. What you're saying is that GAMES may not support it aka the minimum system requirements can go to 2000 series or above. That's got nothing to do with nvidia, it's the game developers that decide how old are the components their games will be made for.

AMD probably tested their anti-lag tech only on their newest GPUs. Their product marketing sucks and they shipped "Nvidia equivalent" features in a rush.

The rationale for AL+ is basically FSR1 vs DLSS in the olden days: Devs are unreliable and super slow to implement features unless they get paid; even today DLSS is only in a handful of games. FSR1 on the other hand is everywhere.

I loved the video, but there seems to be a lot of fanatism/bias here: - We're currently in a high refresh rates + vrr dominated world, reflex currently is way harder to get to work correctly on these setups and it's always recommended to just limit your fps a little below to get vrr going and the least latency, meaning that even tho reflex is a decent technology on it's own, there's no real pro because it already gets outmatched and is better integrated without it on most people setups, nvidia knows this and it's why reflex has been moved to different dlss projects while being basically abandoned on it's own, even if you don't have a vrr capable monitor it still gets outmatched by a simple fps limit. - The entire video seems to be based out of the fact that AMD cards got banned from CS2, it showed from the first moment you mentioned nvidia that this video was going to be unfair because you decided to not touch nvidia's latency reduction on the driver, but focused on reflex instead which ofc isn't going to get you banned because it's up to the developer, this video makes it seem like nvidia knows better and they're all for game developers when they do the exact same thing but they found a proprietary way to get themselves deeper into the market. - Reflex is proprietary for no reason, it's a simple technology that has very little to do with nvidia other than legality, there's projects that allow any card to use reflex (won't name it, idk if nvidia is god here will smite me down), which makes reflex just unnecessarily powerful in a competition sense, AMD cannot do something similar because nvidia's solution is so generic it's like patenting the word "the" and expecting AMD to come up with something new that doesn't include "the". - FPS limiters integrated in-game can be hit or miss, which is why it's always recommended to use driver based fps limits (pretty much always recommended) or third party (less recommended), however you disregarded both because it'd mean that there's no reason for reflex to exist since you get better results even when the game doesn't have an fps limiter, which means that any game can get better latency and integration with vrr capable monitors than the developers putting reflex on their game. TL;DR= While AMD got hit by the banhammer due to anti-lag, this video used that not to explore driver based latency reduction and it's efficiency (or lack there of) but more to talk about the wonders of nvidia's reflex which is not driver based and even on your own video gets outmatched by a simple fps limit (while also implying you need an fps limiter in-game...) in a traditional monitor, and which in the current market where half the people even have a vrr enabled tv is simply the best solution anyways, yet regardless of this you push reflex as the better option even when you proved it to be unnecessary for any use case and straight up detrimental on vrr setups.

Welcome back, if you ever consider making netcode analysis again it would be great. I have no doubts games like CoD Warzone that has kept 20hz tick rate has such an horrendous hit reg that your tests would open many eyes into this issue
@BattleNonSense Жыл бұрын
Sadly games like Warzone are almost impossible to test: - I have to get 2 players onto the same server who can't be in a squad/duo - other players tend to instantly kill one of my test players - I must do multiple test runs to get conclusive data, which means multiple servers - and getting 2 players onto the same server is.... a problem. These problems apply to many if not most of the games released during the last 4 years.
