Don't worry I picked the results of the motherboard socket sensor, the AMD sensors said the CPU was running at 17C on idle or so. That's impossible.

I'm not sponsored. I saved up lots of money before I started this reviewing business. Hopefully I will start earning enough money to at least finance all the hardware pieces I have to buy. I try to sell the benchmarked hardware to get some money in so I can buy new hardware. This is a pretty hard business, but sometime soon I'll put up a sale video on my channel so people can buy my benchmarked components (almost new) for a good price and would support me with that! :)

Intel decided to not use solder in ivy bridge and instead went with lower quality paste, meaning ivy bridge runs really hot. Good to see AMD sticking with quality parts and making huge leaps in performance.

Thanks for the good review. Honestly I was hoping that you will review the flagship model of the 8 cores Vishera CPU's but that's ok. Also I haven't yet seen any reviews on the fx 4300 or the 6300 yet. I would love to see those. I would also love to see someone talk about the Bulldozer and Vishera's compatibility with older motherboard chipsets like the 760 GM on the (FX) motherboards, what's needed to get them to work and etc. Thanks Again!

Definitely. I have one overclocked to 4.51 Ghz + an HD 7850 Ultra OC graphics card and a $40 Creative (brand name) sound card and I am running it no problems. BUT, make sure it's a good unit! I use a Corsair power supply, and they make some of the best along with Seasonic, XFX, Antec, etc. Do your research on your specific model of power supply! I just had an Antec 450 watt PSU die on me and kill my onboard audio of all things. Many cheap PSUs do that, even though mine was higher quality.

And it would also be nice to see some comparisons between the AMD's Vishera cores and their own Bulldozer. See the improvements, if there are any, if they are upgrade worthy and shuch. Thanks alot!

Im really on the fence but it would cost me around 35€ more and I'm not just yet convinced it will give it's worth over FX 6300 when OCing both and specifically for gaming purposes.

@Nicolas11x12TECHX Piledriver runs cooler?! A few things you may have overlooked: 1. The way AMD and Intel sensors report temperature are different. Intel is more conservative and you can easily get the temps using an app like "core temp". AMD's temp reports a number based on some formula (google this and you'll find what I mean).

Ok seems like you are aware. I was saying if the chip that uses more volts runs cooler, you either 1) have very good cooling 2) have low ambient temps (which affects the chip temps) or 3) have a crappy temp reading. Good to know that it's not 3)! Cheers

If the FX-8320 performance is this good, then the FX-8350 must be a beast. Thanks for the review. It really gave me a heads-up on how powerful these CPU's really are. 8-core also means that it's very future-proof and rendering should be great. Not sure if I should get the i5 3550 any more because the FX-8350 is in i7 3770k territory and costs less than an i5.

After 10-15 days I plan to assemble a new computer. So I will buy: FX-8320 + GTX 760. This is the best Price/Performance build at the moment. The difference in price between FX-8320 and FX-8350 is very big. But I think after the overclocking you can get the same performance. My next build: FX-8320 MSI GeForce N760-2GD5/OC 2GB GDDR5 ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16GB (8x2) DDR3 1866 MHz (PC3-14900) LC-Power Silent Giant LC6650GP3 ATX2.3 650 Watt Cooler Master N300

This CPU competes with intel's i5 non k versions. With OC you can annihilate any non k i5 processor in most tasks with this processor. For it's price this processor is great. Is also faster than a stock 8150 and that says a lot about this processor.

@EldarDoyle
@EldarDoyle 10 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the 8320 did not EVER overheat on maximum power, I would not recommend the stock cooler though, go with cooler master, if it is a 30/40$ difference, get the 8320 with a cooler instead the vanilla 8350, they don't have much of a spec difference, they are both V-Octa cores. Conclusion time! get the 8320 with a cooler, then overclock it, you will get more power with the 8320 with a great cooler than the 8350 without one, because you will have more space for overclocking.

Thanks for this. I'm planning on retiring my x6 1090T @ 3.5GHz soon, and getting either a FX-8320 or FX-8350. It's a hard decision. Get the 8320 and save yourself £40! They're the same CPU except the 8350 has a higher stock clock. The 8320 will easily overclock to the 8350. Use the money you save on something else for your PC ;)
@MichaelStephenLordReserei1987
@MichaelStephenLordReserei1987 10 жыл бұрын
Leemon - Yeah, that's what I was thinking--I'd be getting it from eBuyer . It's the same reason I went with my current 1090T (just before the launch of Bulldozer) over the 1100T. I wouldn't be using the stock fan--I have a Hyper TX3 Evo with a push/pull configuration. I did have my x6 1090T at 3.8GHz (stock 3.2GHz) until I accidentally bent the pins at some point and had to push it back to 3.5GHz. My main concerns are that my motherboard isn't the best for overclocking (Asus M5A97 R2.0) which I won't have the funds to upgrade to something like a 990FX board, and knowing my luck I'd get a 8320 from a bad or poorly binned batch that will barely get to 4GHz--it can happen. If I were to spend the extra £40--I'd be guaranteed to have those clocks of 4/4.2GHz with the ability to try to OC it to a FX-9370 at 4.4/4.7GHz. But I have time to decide. I have to wait a month until my next Google AdSense payment.
@FindingLeemo
@FindingLeemo 10 жыл бұрын
If you're adamant at getting 4.4/4.7Ghz then yes, buy the 8350 just in case. Just ensure you have a motherboard and PSU that can cope with the extra voltage and a CPU cooler that can cope with the extra heat - a TX3 may not be enough. Yes, your motherboard isn't great for overclocking and getting a 990FX would be a great idea. What PSU do you have? The main problem with AMD CPUs is the ridiculous amount of TDP they have so if you're overclocking then a good PSU will really help with getting a good overclock. If you have any questions or would like some recommendations for anything let me know!
@MichaelStephenLordReserei1987

EDIT: I'm adamant on 4/4.2. 44/4/7 would just be a bonus. I have an OCZ ZT Series 650W. I grabbed a grade B refurbished Corsair H80 for £39 from eBuyer, and I've decided to go for the 8320.

The fx8320 is a way better bang for the buck. Its the same CPU with lower clock. If steamroller doesnt come out soon, I might build a system with fx8320. I already have i7 3770k and want a AMD system. What people dont know is its not the number of cores and GHZ speed, its architecture. This is why in certain or most tests the piledriver falls behind lower end intel CPUs.

... This has NOTHING to do with an accent or the UK. I use the UK flag to label the English versions (I speak English in these) and I also use the German flag to label the German versions (I speak German in these) of my videos.

I have an important question...I have a 700w PSU and wanted to plug a FX-8320 and a XFX-HD7850 GPU...I thought I was fine because the CPU said 125w and the GPU said 500w, but what about the power consumption on load? It looks like that would exceed my PSU! Do I need another one?

+ Of course it would be nice to buy a good cooler for the CPU to overclock it. Even if the price is the same, I choose the second processor (FX-8320). It is definitely faster in 99.99% of the benchmark excluding the performance in single-threaded applications. But the difference is very small. Therefore, I think the buying of the first processor (Core-i5-3330) is a waste of money.

I thought there was something wrong with the carts when I saw it not beating the 3570, then I saw it was FX 8320 lol

Ik zou voor de AMD gaan omdat de AMD 8 cores heeft en de Intel maar 4. De AMD is geklockt op 4,0 GHz en de Intel op 3,30 GHz (allebei met turbo modus). En de AMD heeft meer Cache.

Of course. While I'd rather use an AMD GPU with an AMD CPU for the "Scorpius" platform, an Nvidia card will definitely work with this.

So I'm thinking about getting one of these paired up with either a -650ti Boost 2gb -Sapphire HD 7850 OC -Asus DirectCU II HD 7870 (if I can pull together the extra) Thoughts? Which would be the best bet? Will it go well with a 550w PSU? Also keep in mind the graphics card will first be paired with an A8-5600k till I buy the processor; definitely need the GPU horsepower before the CPU horsepower.

Get the Radeon HD 7870, it's a damn good card if you're willing to pay a little more.

QuisnamOfGallifrey thank you. Hopefully the a8 won't bottleneck it too much. I just gotta go one at a time haha

Now about the power consumption: If you live in a country where electricity is cheap, the difference between 90 watts and 125 watts is very small. But of course, if you live for example in Denmark, it will be better to buy a 90 watt CPU. But I do not understand people who still use a lot of incandescent bulbs in the house instead of LED lamps and then they say that AMD processors is the energy eaters. lol

I dont think so, i have a weak and old 550w psu and it runs a 8350 on stock and a AMD 5750 1gb even overclocked. I think it will be able to handle it.
