As an owner of 13900k and ex-owner of 7950x, 7950x ran hotter in everything Actual reality is that 7950x ran about 5-10 degrees hotter while on KZbin and such compared to "volcano" of a 13900k. People that speak on these CPUs don't actually own them. AMD hype train is about as disgusting as everyone calling AMD garbage compared to Intel during Vishera/Bulldozer days when I owned AMD FX-8320 People don't know what they are talking about. AMD is not garbage, but it has issues, you can look at countless of videos Intel also has an issue, and you can see a bunch of videos on that. Both CPUs have issues, but 7950x is solid, and in my case 13900k is solid But "volcano"? You don't own 7950x You comparing car with V8 engine to 4-core engine vehicle. Of course it will be cooler, like putting i5-13400 into your motherboard and then comparing it to 7800x3D in heat. I am almost 100% sure you are speaking on 7800x3D, and you never owned 13900k or 7950x to tell a difference.

@@righteousone8454 79xx series was designed to run near programmed thermal limits to deliver blistering speed even in light loads - which explains why the 7950x "just feels a lot snappier" in basic uses - as many reviewers pointed out. Also consider how each manufacture measures thermals - a true test would be to measure heat coming from the AIO. That said, Intel's heat dissipation was VASTLY improved 13/14 gen (basically same thing), something that was required to tame the extreme power usage - and they did an excellent job there. AMD claims to have now greatly improved their heat dissipation also on the 9xxx series - something I'll be watching for in the 3rd party reviews. Might be interesting to see if it's just due to lower TDPs or if they actually did improve it (OC temp comparisons will reveal) Not an argument to your post, I agree with it mostly - just a supplement.

Any company that makes CPUs HAS to have AI processing in it because the future REQUIRES AI processing. Any windows based system needs a minimal no. of TOPS to install Win12, but there's going to be improvement of AI tools in different software and eventually most people are actually going to WANT those NPUs. Yes, really. Eventually even games are going to use AI functionality for the game logic to give variation in games that otherwise wouldn't be possible. That will have to run on the CPU or an NVMe NPU. It certainly can't run on the GPU. I don't give a rat's ass about who said what about CPU X beating CPU Y by z%. It's safe to assume that with the jump in IPC for Zen 5 that the differences between a 9700X and 7800X3D is going to be similar, with some games being better on one or the other. Yes, the media youtubers HAD to make a BIG story out of what was said. I ignored all that, typically I just stop watching a video because I don't care about it. It's safe to say that the jump for Zen 5 is going to be good enough that the vcache parts are going to easily be the best gaming CPUs until Arrow Lake launches and Intel will get a decent IPC boost just from getting rid of SMT - 2. So, for games that push a CPU a bit Arrow Lake should be a good performance jump over 14th gen. It's hard to know what that's going to look like, but I doubt it will be as good as AMD Zen 5 vcache parts. Not interested in upgrading from Zen 3 until the CPU-chipset interface is 16GB/s and if AMD can't get there with Zen 6 I'll be switching to Intel for the first time in 26 years at that point because I use multiple NVMe and run dual boot systems so I need that link to be faster than 8GB/s like it's been since X570/Zen 2. C'MON AMD FIX IT.

@@makerspersona5456 The biggest, fastest, and newest GPU your budget allows. AI compute performance is measured in TOPS. For example, the new Ryzen 9 HX 370 with built in NPU is around 55 TOPS. The RTX 4090 GPU is around 1,300 TOPS. Where the built in NPU TOPS excels against GPU TOPS is TOPS per watt, battery saving, in other words which kind of makes the NPU irrelevant in the desktop market. You would use much more power to get the same number of TOPS out of the GPU, but its total capability massively exceeds NPU.

@@asknight I understand your point but I think the NPU can still add benefits where quick inference is required like in real time response for robotics etc.
@asknight
@asknight Ай бұрын
@@makerspersona5456 certainly, choosing the right tool for the job is of paramount importance, at least in the area of efficiency. My point was more contrary towards the idea that the desktop market would be without Ai compute power without an NPU. At least in these early stages, the GPU will remain king of compute power in that market. The current/next gen NPU only adds $20-50 to the chip, but remember the chip market is absolutely brutal cut-throat and if one competitor can undercut the other by a few dollars by offloading Ai compute to discrete graphics, they will choose that route every time. Why that same idea doesnt make sense in mobile computing is because that $20-50 NPU is still cheaper than the $100-200 discrete mobile GPU but you get enough Ai compute power for personal use.

Hmm, the only sucker would be the B840. Only board partners would have use of such "branding" differentiation to put something between the B and A series. Like cmon, PCIe4.0 should be minimum for anything aimed at gaming - even A-series users should think about gen4.0 capability as SSDs are quickly covering such speeds. I mean you open specifications of notebook: system PCIe3, SSD PCIe4, as AMD kept on selling rebranded Cezanne (Zen3) APUs after Ryzen 7000 to cover cheaper segments. Honestly it's time the board partners invest in better technologies to produce quality PCB that allows decent PCIe and memory speeds, as the issue of expensive AMD chipsets isn't entirely on AMDs account, the chips they sell are most likely priced where intel prices theirs, it's the PCB requirements that raise the price. Like, we need this in notebooks aswell.

@@drsm7947 Really? 7800X3d is top for gaming needing about 60 watts to do it at. Look at the other cpus 400 watts, 500 watts needed and still lose to the 60 watt 7800X3D needed to beat all cpu's at gaming. In time, we will see if 9800X3D can and if watts used undoes it on itself and loses to the about 60 watts 7800X3D.

Cool, Ryzen 9000 comes out in a couple of weeks. But unfortunately they'll launch without the new 800 series chipset. I think those looking to build a new rig will probably wait until there is a range of 800 series motherboards available. I know I will be.

So the "local" AI will not call back to servers? Will not share your information at all? Are we sure about that? The "recall" thing is already not acceptable (by me) and one reason to never install Windows again if it cannot be completely disabled.

Only 100 times they mentioned the word AI? That means that they are not very serious about AI at all. To be serious about AI they should have mentioned the AI at least 300 times or more. The more mentions the better. Intel will mention AI at least 1000 times into their next launch event which means that are trully serious about AI.

This is why competition is healthy. I cant wait to see what Intel releases, at what prices, and what new stuff and/or performance they give. I do alot of video editing so I wish I could go the amd route but Intel's quicksync is just too good to pass on... But read that these new amd chips have AI posibilites inbuilt specifically for editors like resolve and premiere pro so its gonna be intresting thing to look up into how to compares.

Agreed. The competition is good for everyone, and I'm excited to see how the new Intel 20A (2nm) process is going to effect their power usage combined with their newer core architectures. Conversely, I find it disheartening to read comments sections like these where brand sycophants are cheering for a megacorporation that doesn't give a shit about them like their favorite sports team. Intel doesn't care about you and neither does AMD, Qualcomm, Apple, or anyone else.

Cmon man, not one serious use? Then you haven't tried finding one. One quick example that might even be useful for you is translating. Being able to translate between multiple languages at once with a focus on conveying the meaning of what you said in real time was kind of impossible a few years back. Ever used Google Lens to scan a picture for information? That's fed by ai as well. Want to create an excel table from handwritten information? Chatgpt has your back. I wanted to name one that I use daily, but eh, got carried away. And all that's only for personal use, that's just the tip of the iceberg. "Not one serious use" my ass

Yeah, that is the problem, security and privacy, copilot and Microsoft in general are garbage in that regard. AI itself is not the problem. Local AI is the way. Also those NPU numbers are probably another AMD lie.

Really curious if the 3DV- Cache on the bigger 9900 and 9950 is gonna work on all cores this time and how high the clocks are gonna be compared to the regular models. The liquid Nitrogen OC on the new chips without 3dv cache is kinda sicko .. Wonder how much they can get to with normal AIO cooling. You might not need that cache 😃
