Yeah, for the price the new gen of Thermalright coolers go for, it's mind boggling how they sell them for so cheap. I recently built a work colleague a budget gaming PC using a B660M Mortar WiFi, 12600k, a Thermalright contact frame with a Silver Soul 135. It took a bit of fiddling to get the cooler brackets straight as the holes were slightly off. But once the brackets were lined up and the actual cooler was secured, that cooler kept the CPU under 80 degrees during 6 hours of Prime95 small FFT which is actually quite impressive for 25gbp shipped. Jufus's build is ridiculously cheap tho, hard to beat that price to performance even if you buy used parts!

Jufus, talk about issues with Intel that everyone from Wendell, to Hardware Unboxed, to Gamers Nexus are talking about In my case I had no game crashes with my first 13900k, but I had to RMA my chip because it was locking up my Windows 11 system randomly, and then started causing blue screens during non-gaming stuff I was on Aorus Master Z690, and I can't say for certain if memory was at fault, because I still overclocked it to like 6700 mhz or so. Though it did pass TM5 Extreme777 for over 24 hours for like a good week, cause I kept testing different timings I ran CPU at 5.5/4.3ghz P-Core/E-Core I did have an error about "Out of Video Memory" but only happened with RTX 4080 on first CPU, so I put in my RTX 4090 and it stopped doing it. The only time it did it was opening Red D$ed Redemption 2, it would not start with that message. But I had to RMA the CPU and 2nd CPU that came had zero lock ups, but it did show out of memory message during RDR2 start up again twice, but never again. I actually had a shitload of tabs in Opera GX open, so once I closed it, I was fine again. Can you speak on whether you encountered that issue. To me 13900k was the most stable CPU I ever had, in games. Games refuse to error out, unless I mod the f out of them, and at that point it's not GPUs fault. Any game without heavy mods does NOT crash with 13900k, first or 2nd CPU that it replaced. I am interested in your opinion on this, maybe you saw something that I didn't. It's a hot topic right now with 13900k and 14900k I also run my CPUs in long runs of AIDA64 to make sure it's stable and not overheating. I noticed that initially I had watts set to 300 watts, and turned off multicore enhancement. Then began to have lockups 2nd CPU I limited to 262 watts, and turned off multicore enhancement. I see no lock ups. I am not sure if multicore enhancement does anything for performance, but I do see an insane boost to heat, and it will easily draw over 300 watts with multicore ehancement on.

I have 3 options i'm thinking currently, but before I mention those, I'd like to say I primarily use my system for gaming, but in the future will be doing blender, unreal engine, unity, programming etc. I know flatout the i7-13700k and i7-14700k outperform the Ryzen 9 7800x3d. However, I really like future upgrade potential with AMD. But also I know if I get one of these CPU's they'll probably be good for 2k gaming for at least 3-4 years? Also I like that AMD does not require tuning. Can I get away with no tuning for i7? Watching your video about the new intel 15th gen, it makes me think staying with 14th gen and just buying that is the better play. Your thoughts? Cheers.
