Good to hear that! I actually swore in the video when you said that lol, as in NZ the only model we get is the 16GB ram, 512GB SSD with the RTX2070. Just ridiculous that we don't get more options in terms of ram and storage for a desktop/AIO of this caliber.

HP Envy is a good machine ... and I'm an iMac owner .... actually I have both a 27 in HP Envy and a 27 in Retinal iMac - both with very similar specs. I prefer the Mac but admit the HP is probably a better value. But each has a purpose and the machine I seem to gravitate to is the iMac. Is it the OS? I can't say. I'm "bilingual". I'm waiting for the next iMac generation to replace my 27 inch 2015 i7 4K with 32 G memory. My performance numbers are still quite acceptable and the 5k Retina display is gorgeous. What's on my wish list more memory (64G +) more SSD (1TB +) faster graphics (presently Radeon R9 M395 2 GB) and a 32 inch 6K display. I could go for the current i9 powered iMac or iMac Pro but think I will wait for the ARM generation in a year or two. Why? because of thermals and power consumption. All-in-ones are very prone to thermal throttling and the high end Intel processors run very hot. The promise of the ARM processors is somewhat better performance but reduced heat and power consumption. The current iMac design is - as you correctly state - a bit dated but then again it's been around for a good while. I suspect the next gen iMacs will address that with thinner bezels etc.

That looks AMAZING! Way better then the iMac - it is so dated now. Though, I have never had an actual computer, or an all-in-one. I have always been using laptops - maybe someday. I’ve been thinking about getting a new desktop to replace my 8-year-old iMac, so this looks like a great option. Definitely near the top of my list.
@Renwoxing134 жыл бұрын
I thought about it. Then I remembered my iMac lasted me 10 years without any maintenance AT ALL. Combine that with the 3000$ price tag on it... well I would rather spend 3 grand on an iMac. The windows machines I had previously needed frequent maintenance, and started running rough alot quicker. Last but not least: there is an Apple conference coming around the 22nd of this month. New upgraded Imacs are suspected to be revealed, and there is even a possibility of a design update. Basically if they ditch fusion drives for pure SSD then I am getting a new 27 inch iMac!
@gostowl4 жыл бұрын
@@Renwoxing13 Thank you for your 2 cents. As I said, the HP is near the top of the list, but it's not final. I bought this hp aio pc and it was a nightmare I can not even describe. This was my first pc so I didn't really know what I was doing thus the aio... Ordering process literally took 3 months. Box arrived smashed and I could see the computer without opening the box, pc had no visible damage so I set it up, or attempted to. It would idle around 80c and blue screen trying to watch a KZbin video and chat on discord at the same time. In total spent hours and hours and hours on the phone with hp between ordering and troubleshooting overheating and in the end returning. Lots of time on hold. Got all my money back. In the end I was out 3000$ for about 5 months to have a paperweight for about a week. They did give me a 100% refund a few weeks after they received my returned pc. Ended up building my first pc after this whole situation. That went great!! I now passionately hate hp. And yes almost every time I called them I herd roosters in the background from different reps. The fan is actually very nice (at least when it's now. I got mine for about 6 months now). I got the rtx2060 and the i7 9700k and when browsing you litterally hear nothing. 1. The display can't be rotated up and down and left and right. That seems like bad design. 2. The cpu heatsink looks undersized. I would like to see some thermal bench-marking and testing on this. 3. A 32" display is a bit oversized for a desktop. 4. The 10 core seems like overkill. Very few are actually doing any kind of work (video editing, rendering, 3D modeling, etc.) that would take advantage of all them extra cores. 5. The 592 nits is nice but there's more to a quality display than just nits. What about refresh rate, ppi, response time, etc.?? 6. 4k on a computer monitor does not make sense because you are always sitting 1' or less from the monitor and computer monitors are to small for 4k. 7. How can you claim its an imac killer when its running windows 10, the worst operating system ever made?

@@kalijasin That is a ridiculous waste of money. the envy is oversized ,bulky. and any computer runs like a jet when you turn off the pre-running apps. The really best computer i see on the market., i have., if is an Acer z3 all in one., 17 inch touch screen built-in battery, so you take it and go., sleek the sound quality is alright., but with any desktop, you want to go with outside speakers anyway, for surround sound effects. i mean taking this baby from the kitchen to the porch is like talking your smartphone. it is that fast and easy , just unplug the battery charger and go. everything is wireless so you have a free functioning set right at your fingertips., for only $400.00. it is a rip off when slave labor makes computers for pennies on the dollar, and these corporate criminals jack up the price to over 4000% the acer is an older model , but to date i have seen no all in one desk-top so versatile. well worth the price.

I think the iMac is better in that regard from reviews I've seen, and I've a sneaky feeling that has a lower resolution. The sound is great on the speakers with this device (just heard them on another review), but the mic seems kind of hollow and echoey? I could definitely live with both the camera and the mic but like you say, just not as good as you'd expect! Btw great review thanks Andrew! Hey there, I own the Envy 32 and I wonder if you could test some things I discovered about this machine?
@Dacoco20004 жыл бұрын
Okay great to hear. I would like you to confirm two issues I have with the machine: 1) When i connect a device (e.g. a laptop) using the HDMI IN the wifi got issues. In fact after shutting down the Envy with a HDMI IN device also connected and then turning it on again the wifi doesn't connect. The Eventlog shows an error about the Wifi card. 2) If HDR is turned on in the windows display settings and you create a fully black screen (even without borders, completely black) and you move the mouse you can see the partial banding because it seems to be kind of a qled screen but only the upper an lower LEDs can turn off (at the same time). I suppose this doesn't explain very good what I would like to know but you will see it if you test it. Overall the backlight bleeding is pretty strong on this machine. And do you have a source for the adhesive tape which is needed to close the machine after opening it? Thank you very much!

Right off the bat: the 27” iMac has had a 5K display for *years* now (admittedly with some rather ugly ghosting issues). While the 32” display on the Envy looks lovely, it’s only 4K (the resolution of the 21.5” iMac) with a much lower pixel density than the iMac. 🤷♂️
@yucaluca85614 жыл бұрын
Thats true, but the iMac looks super outdated
@sriramsundar83884 жыл бұрын
Do you know how advanced 4k technology is even today? These 5K, 6K and 8K displays are too overkill. 5k on a 27 inch display is way too overkill, the pixel density is super sharp that you need to be very close to the display to distinguish the pixels. While 4k on a 43 inch or higher may be bad, 4K on a 32 inch display is the most loved and the perfect pixel density for not just common people, but for true professionals. Go take a look at reference monitors like Sony and TvLogic who makes displays that are super expensive but also super color accurate for filmmakers that have an estimated budget of over $200 million, but the preferred resolution is 1080p, and 4k only kicks on if you go for 32 inch or higher. These 5K and above displays are something not many people need and that category even includes true professionals. PS: I'm a true Apple fanboy and 5K on an all in one is something I'm really proud of Apple to do so, but I like that because of Apple's tendency to do new things and stuff not many people need until they really see it(Steve Jobs's quote), not because it's a deal breaker.
