Amelia Boone is a longtime pro athlete living in Colorado. Amelia is one of the most decorated OCR athletes ever, winning four World Championships across Spartan and Tough Mudder. She has also had a decorated trail running career over many years. A few weeks ago, Amelia published a newsletter titled "Past My Prime," which explores aging as a pro athlete, yet finding joy as a lifelong practitioner of sport. That newsletter inspired this episode and occupies the bulk of the conversation.
Topics Discussed:
Amelia's relationship with writing
Her motto for 2024, "maybe"
Becoming an unsponsored athlete
Her inability to enjoy her prime athletic years
The balance between happiness and performance
Keeping a career outside of pro sport, even as a World Champion
Finding joy in her career transition
Turning 40
The idea of retirement
Pursuing purpose in life
Her current relationship with running
Goals for the future
A lot more!

Thanks Mr. Bowman. Another fantastic interview. Her transparency is refreshing. I guess it's not always rainbows and unicorns when you hit the top.

This is fantastic. Thank you. I have been thinking about starting my own podcast. I'm curious what software you are using to capture the side-by-side view along with the audio?

It’s so interesting of a video have a friend he does coaching now and stuff. He was in pursuit of trying to become pro and he says it destroyed him. He said he lost his love of rant running he said if he had not even an off day if he didn’t come in first or his coach could tell that he wasn’t pushing it to the complete limit as he was just it wasn’t his day, he felt like he had the college call these people and start apologizing and now he says it could’ve been his perception when he took a little time off running and running again and coaching all the being away and he said it was a job and he said they got to be just a job. He didn’t want to have the stress of dealing with a lot of people, which is our vascular issues he said because it’s stressed out great though really enjoy this

Great convo ! Hearing that is as much if not way more inspiring than all accolades she may have won.
