LOVE this one. Amelia is so no nonsense; no mysteries, no big philosophy while teaching - just simple how to do this and the ability to show how it's done HERSELF step by step. this is the best way to learn this!!

Thank you so much for demystifying dressage. I've been riding for a long time and just always figured this was beyond me. You explaining things in such detail makes me want to try... 👍 I look forward to learning more.

Hi Amelia thank you for demonstration of these two movements, I have struggled for some time as to how to put this together. You have clarified the mystery for me as I'm not a dressage rider, just looking for becoming a better rider and Better communication between my horse and myself! I have picked up lots from watching and listening to you explaining the progression and what to watch for, very helpful!!

I love this video. My trainer wants me to start doing haunches in to loosen up my horses back. This will really help me in my next lesson, when we plan to start. I am excited to get started on my own. I watched several videos and this one is by far the most helpful. Thank you Amelia!

This was a great instructive video. I've been struggling to find info on practical ways to teach a horse haunches in and I think the technique you showed will work for a lot of horses.

Yes I LOVE your videos. When you say put the inside leg on when you start the shoulder in. What are the correct aids for a 10m circle? Isn't your inside leg on for the circle?
@AmeliaNewcombDressage2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is on for the circle. You may need more inside leg to initiate the shoulder in down the rail.

This is exactly what I need to work on. For an older horse, would introducing these exercises be easier at walk? Thanks for sharing.
@AmeliaNewcombDressage6 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy! Yes, it is often easier to start theses exercises at the walk. Just make sure if your horse starts to get to slow or stopping to mix in some trot or canter in between to refresh them 😁👍

For shoulder fore do you also put your outside leg behind the girth? and the only different between shoulder fore and shoulder in is more pressure on the outside rein? anything else as far as the difference between the two?

Is your inside leg behind the girth for shoulder in? and outside for haunches in?
@AmeliaNewcombDressage4 жыл бұрын
good question! No. The inside leg should be at the girth for both shoulder-in and haunches-in.
@SerraZuckerman5 ай бұрын
Hi! my horse understands shoulder in and leg yeild on the rail with haunches in, but more than half the time when i try gently changing the bend, he moves his haunches *into* my outside leg. Or we get baby steps and I reward him like he just won the olympics. But do you have any more suggestions to help this go smoother?
