Can I hitch a ride? All these years I have longed for that time machine. That music is most definitely one of humanity's greatest treasures and legacies. @@stevelarge

It's a long and sad story I'm afraid, and a tragic one. It may sound conspiratorial, but it's true. The 60's saw a social revolution of the new generation, the likes of which had never been seen before, that seriously threatened the old power establishment, it's corruption and the continued glorification of war, with the onset of the Vietnam war. This new generation and it's muses sought a much more uplifted world, which was perfectly represented in it's music. The musicians were the real inspiration for that entire generation with all the new hopes and dreams. But those dreams were countered by an extremely ruthless and corrupt power elite that staged a counter revolution. It started with a series of coup d'etats in countries electing democratic leaders, a series of horrific assassinations, of the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X, the Kennedies, MLK, Patrick Lamumba and many others. But it also included the infiltration of media, hollywood and music, in order to change the direction of our western culture and kill all inspiration and aspirations to ideals, talent, creativity and independent and investigative journalism. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Not many people know that this song was originally written by the Italians Mogol and Battisti. Initially the song had no success in Italy. Then the Italian pop singer Patty Pravo heard this English version and, not even knowing about the Italian origin of the song, decided to record an Italian version of it that became a huge hit. Just search Patty Pravo Paradiso in youtube.

Some does much of it was crap. Bubblegum music was invented in that decade. The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slippered pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on side; His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice, Turning again toward childish treble, pipes And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.
