Thank you so much for spending time talking about this! It was right on time for me today. Nine weeks sober. I'm feeling so much better. But, my mind is busy. I know that I'm still far from getting out of the woods. That's better than the alternative!

This podcast has helped me so much today. I had an embarrassing drunk blackout incident on Tuesday after a night out at a work bar. I told myself that I am DONE. No more drinking for me. That's it. This podcast has given me so much insight and clarity.

I am from Kurdistan, one of the important things in our culture is the prohibition of drinking alcohol, it is very important for everything in the country , especially for education.

All you said rings very true. I am a very successful functional alcoholic. I drink large amounts of beer everyday. I need to stop poisoning myself. Thank you for this posting! 🙏

Alcohol is "poision ".it will change brain's physiology once for all time, it changes neurochemistry to a level that it is very very difficult for brain to operate normally at baseline.

And don't forget that the alcohol ALSO turns into sugar and that hurts many other parts of the body as well. Huge amounts of life-long sugar consumption helped cause insulin resistance in my now 79-year-old husband which basically contributed to his cognitive decline. He now also suffer from numerous neurological issues as well; severe neuropathy in his toes, feet and legs and nerves nearly dead in his legs and who knows what the "root cause" of those issues are? Sugar? His brain decline? Others?

Thank you! I am in the field of Sobriety & Life Coaching and I have my own business. I’m close to 3 years in and am highly involved in the Christian community. I work with all walks of life but I have many clients in ministry, leadership or high profile jobs that don’t want others to know their struggles. What saddens me the most is the lack of support in the Christian community. I specialize in alcohol and have studied it intensely for the past 6 years. It seems to me that the Christian community is holding on to alcohol very tightly, and most have not dove into the science behind what it really is and does. ❤

Not all Christian communities support alcohol use. I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist and have always been thankful for the prohibition of alcohol. I think it’s a major contributor for the Blue Zone success.

Life is very different when I prioritize sleep. Perspective is different. I prioritized sleep and then didn’t for about one week. I did again today and I feel good. It is true what they say about getting enough sleep and prioritizing.

Very interesting as usual. I would like to hear what you think about the brains of menopausal women. What changes does the brain of a woman who goes through this period undergo and if there is a correlation between Alzheimer's and menopause in women. Do you have any studies done about this topic. Thank you!

What do you think of the Andre Rieu concerts? And other music? (No alcohol. No drugs. They can make people get high.)

Hi Dr. Amen. My daughter has ADHD and she won't do some of her school work. I also have a cousin who lives with me. I want both of them to have their brain scanned, but things are financially difficult. What can we do?

There are practitioners who can do similar brain scans using QEEG. Another way to look at things is to skip ahead and just do all things Dr. Amen recommends to improve brain health without the brain scan. He has many amazing books and so much online for free.
