America performs live in Washington DC on July 4, 1984. The BetaGems channel also has "America 11-13-74 TV concert footage."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded between from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on KZbin or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.

1984 is not accurate, it was filmed in 1980, 1981, or 1982. They actually played on the nations capital three years in a row with the beach boys, and others, before the event got too big and they were replaced by the Marine Corps marching band… after this last of the third concerts in 1982, the rock ‘n’ roll party was shut down for the Fourth of July, and the beach boys did the following year in 1983, a halftime concert during the DC pro soccer team game at RFK stadium. I went to that one as well, even have a poster from the event at RFK Stadium, dated June 12, 1983.

@@itsnotme2008 thanks for the dialogue in history, so much fun. here's where it doesn't add up for me. I saw the shows on the mall two years in a row. The crowds got too big and they ended up shutting it down, and so for the following year the Beach boys played at RFK stadium, the halftime show for team America soccer game. I still have the poster from that game, but again that was 1983, AFTER the big concerts were banned from the Fourth of July on the mall. I'd love to send you a photo of the poster, but don't know how to post an image through KZbin.
