WISH they would put tracks down through the center divider of I-5. There is plenty of room between the north and south bound lanes. I have seen it done with the bart trains down in the bay area. There is vacant land between the lanes from Redding almost all the way to L.A. just going to waist.

Nah, I like Acela, it's a good looking train and has a decent name too. But Acela and Brightline are the only nice trains in the US. The rest look a bit... historical. You have some nice new locos (Chargers) but coaches they haul look weird to me, I don't like them. TEXrail is also a nice little new commuter train, (albeit not meant to be fast). That's about it. Maybe California will get some nice high speed, if they're lucky, one day. New Caltrain rolling stock is definitely nice, coming soon. That's all I have to say.
@christopherorourke63627 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if the rail line of CSX from Washington to Petersburg, VA were electrified and on Norfolk Southern from Petersburg, VA to Norfolk, VA so the Acela can go to Norfolk with high speed train service.
@froztytrainfilms91484 жыл бұрын
Christopher O'Rourke Part of the line, the RF&P Subdivision south of Union Station used to be electrified, and the electrification extended all the way to Potomac yard, which was converted into like a shopping center area. There’s still a few catenary masts still standing, especially closer to DC

In China we get almost twice the speed (200mph) for less than half price of Acela.
@HDMBTAVideos7 жыл бұрын
In the United States, this Northeast corridor (Boston-New York-Washington DC) has the only high speed rail in the country, and the same trains have been used since 2000. The top speed is 150 mph, but it only reaches these speeds in certain sections of track, as the tracks are not in the best condition. In addition, train stations in the U.S.A. are often far from the center of a city, and therefore riders need to take a taxi or drive home from the station, not a quick subway ride. Therefore, thus country is not best suited for a high speed rail system. As for the high ticket prices, they partially pay for other Amtrak lines that do not earn profits.
@dongshuowu34547 жыл бұрын
Admittedly, US is not best suited for rail system for the reason that cities are so sporadically distributed. Nowhere is the country, however, will be better suited for trains than northeast corridor nationwide. It might not be realistic for US to spend trillions and trillions of $$$ to build a high speed rail network of 200 mph above from the scratch like China did, but it will definitely be great if they could improve the current track to 125 mph for at least 95% of the northeast corridor and then DOUBLE the service frequency while not increasing the ticket price. (Acela express runs 70 mph in much of CT now.) If that was successful, I believe ridership won't be such a big problem as now believed.
@zackboone157 жыл бұрын
Thats because in China the government can bust down your house no questions asked to make a straight route or to add more tracks.
@dongshuowu34547 жыл бұрын
Zack Boone This is bad indeed. But in most cases those residents get paid twice the market price of their homes.

David Wu u dumb? Acela can go up to 150-160 MPH (I heard it can actually go around 220 MPH), but speed restrictions limit it to 120-160 MPH.

Nothing to admire about the Chinese or French or any of their garbage systems, as they are comprised of subpar, unsafe, inefficient railcars that wouldn't even come close to passing safety tests in the US. Furthermore, in the absence of almost all oversight, decent manufacturing and safety in many EU countries & other countries such as Communist China, they force this unsafe 'service' and operate it as a corporation, so it's not really public transit or a public asset, as transit should be, and is in the US, with exception of a few cities with corrupt systems, and inability to manage safety and debts such as NYC and boston. So, i'd rather have safer transit in the US, as a service we own as an asset, operated by hardworking americans, paid fairly, utilizing Buy-American, American made equipment, (with the exception of Amtrash, and most of NYC's junky equipment) rather than a private corporation. SEPTA, for example has one of the very best systems. So, there's nothing good about what other countries such as China do, when their system is a piece of garbage when you take a magnifying glass to it. I'd never ride on that, the way they spin the facts over their many accidents their 'safety'. it's all propaganda. Not surprising seeing as this is a communist country. Secondly, Amtrak is not 'America's fastest train' as most commuter trains such as SEPTA and freight trains can run 110, 120 mph, if run in express. Amtrak actually has some of the chintziest, worst equipment.
@3tkandme6 жыл бұрын
