Looks nicer than before but probably not the best way of "restoring" that piece. Filling in the dents on the scabbard being one of the biggest issues. You had taken the bolster off, then you had a clear opening into the scabbard's interior. A blade shaped mandrel would have been good to remove the dents along with a soft face hammer. Or... Leave the dents alone. They were part of the story of the bayonet. Some guy likely lay on the ground somewhere shooting or trying not to get shot himself. The dents are typical of having the bayonet laying under the soldier's weight and against rocks or other hard surfaces. They could have been from combat. But it's your artifact. Sometimes gentle cleaning and leaving is preferred.

beautiful way of restoring it with the old parts , i dont like it when there are new parts used bij the restauration Some damage comes from the use of an object and is part of what it has been through in history

What’s up? You did outstanding job! I didn’t know you restored “America’s First Bayonet”. But you had restored bayonet several times. Well, American knifemakers made bayonets long way back from early century. See ya next project 😊

Nice job. I like the wooden handle treatment with epoxy stabiliser. I would have been tempted to make new handle inserts, but as others have said, using the original parts adds to the history and character of the piece.

Nice work. It looked just like the British and Australian bayonets, but I'm no expert. I only know that the avid collectors get annoyed by restorations. Dad's old bayonet was inches shorter than it should have been and the factory markings, if not completely gone, were hard to see. From memory, it was a 1927 design that our armies kept using for many years.

I've recently started watching your channel, working my way through your old videos, and quite enjoying myself. Unfortunately I have to say I don't really like this video. It seems rushed and unfinished. I don't like how the finished project turned out, and I feel like it didn't get it's due justice. Much more could have been done. I understand you like to keep your videos around 10-15 min, which is fine, how ever this particular project felt like it was rushed and then fit to make that cut. Sorry for the harsh comment. I really like your channel, just not this particular video.

My dad's best friend bought a hog hunting camp here in Florida that came with a bunch of WW2 rifles that were really not taken care of. One of the was a Krag Jorgensen and also a !arlin No.42 12 gauge pump. I got all 8 guns back to,the best condition I could. I have nowhere near your skills, plus this was 27 years ago. But I did a ton of work on those guns, especially the Krag. They used that the most besides the 1903 Springfield and Lee Enfield No IV. Just those 3 guns alone took down over 450 pigs in a 40 year period.
