Reminds me of Noam Chomsky's book *Failed States* I think it came out in the Bush administration. He said America was a failing and dying state then. Everyone laughed and called it "lefty angst and pipe dreaming," not so much now is it?

23 year proud US Military vet here. Mr Bolsen could not be any more accurate on his assessment of the bloated defense budget. Much of what we have in our pot of money for defense has little to do with our military and more to do with wasteful spending on corporate interests. If we were really spending that money on the military, many more people would join. Service members would be paid much better than they are. There would be tons of bonuses. But nope, more of it goes to the defense contractors than it does the actual military.
