America's Newest High-Speed Rail, FEC Freight Trains & More: Railfanning in South Florida!

3/13/23:
On Spring Break I went down to Miami for a few days. Given how different South Florida railroading is from anywhere else in the country, I spent a few hours one day trackside along the FEC and CSX (SFRC) mainlines into Miami. In this video, we will catch new high-speed trains from Brightline, America's First Privately owned High-Speed Rail Company, operating between Miami and West Palm Beach. We will also see some FEC freight trains powered by classic EMDs and LNG-fueled GEVOs operating between Miami and Jacksonville. Finally, we will explore some Amtrak and Tri-Rail action on the former Seaboard/CSX Mainline. Enjoy this guide to railfanning in South Florida!

You do know that to be a High Speed Rail, you have to have no rail crossings, special rail, and speeds over 200mph. We were given 2.5 Billon to actually build a HSR between Tampa and Orlando, but Gov. Scott wouldn’t take the money. Would it be because he has invested in The Brightline company.

WRONG! HSR is any new rail line build for speeds of 155mph or more. And for upgraded legacy rail 125mph or more. But, you are right BLF isn't HSR.
