Күн бұрын

Today, May 11, 2015 is Richard Overton’s 109th birthday. This makes him America’s oldest surviving World War Two Veteran.
I recently had the honor of visiting with Richard at his home in Austin, Texas. Now, he credits his health and longevity to smoking cigars, drinking whiskey and being able to defend himself and his country with firearms.
He’s hung out with everyone from the president and senators and celebrities.
I wanted to do something different with Richard and since this is Guns.com, I asked him to show me some of his own personal firearms.
And since it’s Richard’s birthday, I had one more question for him.
Happy birthday Richard and God bless you from all of us living in the free world.
Video by Ben Philippi for Guns.com.

Unfortunately the United States seems to be running out of these people, these people make this country so great. It’s the people that don’t appreciate what they have or criticize what we have, despite the fact they haven’t contributed anything to it, that are ruining this country. People like you don’t know what it was like to have your Freedom challenged and threatened, even if it was i bet you’d dodge the draft like so manny hippies did in the 60s. Seeing how the automotive industry went from a Ford Model T to a Koenigsegg Agera, or how a simple 12'' round screen b&w 200-pound TV evolved into 100''+ amoled 2'' thick displays that you can hang on the wall. Or how planes went from carrying 20 passengers to carrying 850 at near supersonic speeds. All of that in a lifetime.

Here is the latest on Mr. Overton: The family of Richard Overton, a cigar-loving, whiskey-drinking 110-year-old veteran, is asking for the country's help. Overton is considered one of the nation's oldest World War II veterans - if not the oldest - and now requires round-the-clock care, his family said on a GoFundMe page. Instead of sending Overton to a nursing home, the family is raising money to provide the veteran with in-home care at his house in Austin. "On behalf of the Overton family, we greatly appreciate any donations to help Richard stay in his home and receive in-home care," said Volma Overton Jr. on the crowdfunding page. I'm going send something just to make sure he gets keep enjoying his morning cigar, whiskey and coffee.

If not I will include a link. But the model 11 is the Browning A5 before it was the A5 Remington just manufactured it for John Browning. The main reason I would guess model 11 is that they are generally found in home's of older people, being that they were manufactured until the late 40's with a pile of em during WW2. In the end, you're probably right,he looks like a Browning man...
