I love these videos. This channel reminds me of the old-school HISTORY channel before they made everything into reality shows.

Also the films they showed in American History class back in junior and and high schools. Back before the teachers started teaching to HATE America! And Civics Class was not only still taught but a require credit! Before the invasion of Marxist teachers into our schools!

I think he was a major character (as a bad guy if I remember) in the TV show "Turn" about Washington's spies in the revolutionary war... it was a decent show... I think it was on FX network in the early 2000s... I could be wrong on details though...

What about Benjamin church? He is credited for the first formation of something similar to the US army rangers. Even their website credits him in king Philips war of 1675-1678. His use of guerrilla tactics and hit and run is what inspired Rogers. Rogers certainly deserves his credit but I really wish there could have been an honorable mention of Benjamin Church at the very least. Over all great video like usual tho.

Hollywood won't pride itself in the real side of history. No profit in it. They want profit for the modern naive generations. The US Rangers were created and trained by the Commandos in 1942 Achnacarry Scotland for example.

While Rogers was meeting with Pontiac in the woods, ( he got surprised by the natives and surrounded ), his red coat bosses were handing out Small Pox Blankets to the Enemy tribes...that the kind of tactics you are talking about?...Pontiac let him go.

The special forces today are more involved with how much punishment a soldier can take than how he can operate independently of command. Training kills nearly as many lifer's as combat. Take the tragic case of Special Forces Staff Sergeant Logan Melgar killed in a ''hazing incident." He had already proven himself a valuable, intelligent, highly trained and motivated soldier. One more GDDMN badge, one more club he needed to get into BEFORE being accepted as the best, of the best of the best is what killed him. That and the psychotic behavior of heavily intoxicated, indoctrinated soldiers around him who thought they were going to teach him a lesson. What does your old man tell his friends at the barber shop about you? He says "My boy's a paratrooper.'' and he doesn't need to say one more word to have been elevated to the highest rung of being a dad. Does he go into the Special Forces/Delta description of elitist BS? No, he doesn't because it means nothing to the rest of the world. You volunteer you get a ribbon, you meet death on the battlefield and survive you get another, now how many badges and ribbons do you need?

Yeah so if I get it correctly.. standing sf dudes started, what? Late 50's early 60's? Think the recondo school was one of the first... either way trained and standing sf began fully during Nam... soooooo If SF is so good... why then have we lost every war since ww2? With the looooong pause on Korea.. hmm I think I figured it out.. we got rid of the brown boot military and went totally Government warriors for Government under the guise of the people?... sounds right

Robert Rogers Ranger was a British Army officer, not American. The Queens Rangers. The USA did not exist when he was born in 1731. He died in London aged 63. The word "Ranger" comes from Scottish border Rangers. The origins and inspiration of all special forces since WW2 were formulated from the legendary Army "Commandos" (green berets) of WW2. The Commandos were created by Churchill in 1940 utilising unconventional (ungentlemanly warfare) to "Set Europe ablaze" using the British Combined Operations and the Commando concept. Classic unconventional Commando skills and speed marching etc paved the way and is the blueprint of all other nations special forces. Over 25000 troops from all over the world were trained in unconventional Commando warefare skills at Achnacarry Scotland (Commando country). The USA did not have any special forces or Commando-type units until WW2. The first were the 1st and 29th provisional Rangers which were born in Achnacarry Scotland under Lord Lovats Commandos in 1942. These were disbanded and then the 2nd and 5th US Rangers subsequently copied these unconventional Commando skills taking part in operation Torch and D day etc. Pikes 'First Special Service Force' was also a Commando-type type unit also utilising these unconventional Commando skills. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5731237/Fascinating-pictures-Americas-elite-soldiers-trained.html www.nam.ac.uk/explore/what-are-special-forces

This is incorrect... America had multiple "Special Forces" type units before WWII... also, the British Commandos were based on Boer units they fought in the Boer war...
