We used to listen to them in a Radio speaker back in India with my brothers and seeing them live yesterday was just the dream man!!!. Probably me and my friend were the only one's in our 20's when the whole crowd was 50,60+ lol. The beer was good and so was the music!!!!!

(Sadly I didn't care for the music of my parents much). My kids are like you .... they know and enjoy music from the mid 70's on up to music of today. I folks like you because you realize how great the music of the 70s and 80s is. Those who attend the shows don't seem to care about age gap. My kids (20) just went to Alan Parsons with me (past 50) .. We all loved loved it. Rock on!!

Great underrated band. George Martin produced them so it's no wonder they have a strong Beatles vibe and professionalism to them. I never understood why they didn't get the same love as the Eagles did, because I think their talent was comparable.

I wouldn't consider them underrated -- more like like typical of '70s bands. They definitely had some great songs, had some smash hits, & actually released more albums during the decade than The Eagles did -- But the Eagles had more solid albums, had bigger (& more) hits, toured a lot more, & you felt like you knew the guys....Most music fans could name every member of The Eagles past & present, but many still couldn't name the 3 guys in America

America was a band of three army brats who’s parents were stationed in England, in the late ‘60’s. They were signed by Apple Records and produced by George Martin. So yeah, Ventura Highway has always been one of my favorite songs of all time. In his song, the conversation with “Joe” was a family friend at the time when they lived in the Midwest and his father was being deployed to Southern California. He was trying to talk joe into going with them and moving out to California. Joe, being hit by “purple rain,” was a euphemism for depression or the blues. Most of the lyrics in the song were based on actually events of Dewey’s childhood.

@@alanoneill3065 yeah it’s a localized name for the old California state Rout 1, or the coastal Highway. Where it passes through the L.A., Ventura area it’s referred as the Ventura Highway. This highway has largely become obsolete since they put in the Interstate 101 freeway, a faster safer alternative. The Ventura is the scenic route. I had thought I was responding to the Ventura Highway clip, not the Oz clip, my mistake…
