I never met your dad, but I feel I do know him. Every time I put a disc on or crank up the song on the radio, we are high-fiving, hugging, rockin' out... and we look in each other eyes to know the truth, something we can take with us when we must go. Classic Rock and Roll, sixties and seventies, mostly. Not much else.

From what I recall his solo records after leaving Humble Pie didn't sell too well (even the one with the studio version of this song), but this live album put him over the top into R&R guru status. IIRC "Frampton Comes Alive" and Cheap Tricks "Live at Budakon" were the largest selling albums until Michael Jackson's "Thriller" came out. Great times, great music back then.

If I recall correctly, this episode was recorded just a couple of weeks after the gigs at Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, that make up about half of the tracks on "Frampton Comes Alive". Which means these songs were unknown to most of the audience, since the album wasn't released until a couple of months after this show was taped. Imagine being in that audience, on that day, hearing all these amazing songs for the very first time!

Every single human being alive in the mid-seventies owned the "Frampton Comes Alive" album. And every one of those records, I distinctly recall, was out near the turntable, never put away with the other LPs. Every copy I saw had a disc-shaped bit of wear and tear on the cover (and, of course, a few stems and seeds stuck inside). I'm so impressed that Mr. Frampton not only survived his mega-fame , but somehow emerged from it all with grace, humility, and an intact work ethic. And he's still with us, and still kills it live! (And not in a sad, golden oldies, "Beach Boys-featuring-one-member-of-the-original-lineup", "PBS fundraiser" kinda way LOL)

Peter Frampton seemed so big to me back then! Probably because of the perspective of the photo cover on Frampton Comes Alive. It's so funny to see how he was just a small dude with a big sound...I loved that album! Thanks for posting this performance 😁

Wow! Frampton had it all. Great song writing, fantastic guitar chops, stellar band, and he’s a good looking dude. No wonder his career took off the way it did. Thanks for posting this clip.

Peter Frampton lives in Nashville. My brother has met him a couple of times. He's a nice guy. He's yet another rocker who isn't in the Hall of Fame and needs to be.

Can't agree more the 70's was the era for clean and raw beautiful music made by people who loved what they did live. You know it was the best era because of all the new music that features the beat, riffs and sometimes full remakes of classics

The "Midnight Special" videos give me close-up, personal, and front row tickets to my favorite rock star bands, that I long for in my teen years. But sadly, my parents were so abusive, going to a concert was impossible. So here I am.

Bob Heil Kustom Electronics was the first company to successfully market a talk box but Bob Heil was the guy who built one you could easily play on stage. Heil got the idea for his talk box from Joe Walsh, who was using the box Bill West made with Pete Drake. Still being used to this day.. Yet Frampton made it famous....

I love his music since 1977; I was living in the country side, in Guatemala , Central América and when I was 14 years old I made I promise to myself and to a friend that one day I would attend one of his concerts "No matter what" and, when I was almost 40 years old, I flew to New York ( around 2004!) went to Westburry: one of the best memories of a dream coming true: "Simply seeing him playing his guitar _in front of me_: Now in 2024 my children love his music as well!
