There's a band I used to confuse with "America" as their music was so similar. If America takes you on the road, "BREAD" will have you balling before you hit the first Mc Donalds!!!! Beautiful Music. Period. Give em a listen, Harri!
My favourite America song. Produced by the talented George Martin aka the fifth Beatle.

They had some great songs, 'I Need You', 'Tin Man', 'Lonely People', 'Sister Golden Hair' and 'You Can Do Magic'. There are other location based band names such as Japan, Asia, Europe, many named after U.S. states and best of all the super-group U.K. which consisted of John Wetton and Bill Bruford of King Crimson, Eddie Jobson of Roxy Music and Jethro Tull, and Allan Holdsworth of Soft Machine. They released 2 studio albums "U.K." in 1978 and "Danger Money" the following year.

The era itself was uniquely inspiring to so many,when the creativity among musicians in the 60's & 70's was at its zenith. The reason todays music "sucks" is because its impossible to improve perfection,and those two decades WERE perfection,so now they use computers with zero soul.

America is a rock band that was formed in London in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. The trio met as sons of US Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing live. Achieving significant popularity in the 1970s, the trio was famous for its close vocal harmonies and light acoustic folk rock sound. The band released a string of hit albums and singles, many of which found airplay on pop/soft rock stations. Ventura Highway is in California; I was raised there.

Twenty years ago, visiting Southern California, I remember purposefully driving down PCH (Pacific Coast Highway…’cause there is no Ventura Highway…)… in a convertible - and it was the best feeling in the world. It’s still incredibly vivid.
@tommclean54103 жыл бұрын
Ventura Highway is the 101. There totally is a Ventura Highway. We used to say for example: Are you taking the 405 (aka San Diego Freeway) or Ventura highway which is more commonly referred to as the 101 now.
@christopherleodaniels72033 жыл бұрын
@@tommclean5410 You mean the Ventura FREEWAY?! There is that. But, that’s not what the song is about. Dewey Bunnel, the songwriter was recalling a family trip, as a child, and they got a flat on Highway 1, PCH - and he and his brother were looking at clouds shaped like alligators and lizards and also saw a sign that said “Ventura”. So, its more a poetic flourish than an actual place, even though I can see why Californians (I’m not one; I was visiting) would refer to the 101 as such.
@tommclean54103 жыл бұрын
@@christopherleodaniels7203 Up until the early 80's the stretch of 101 between Camarillo and Ventura was a two lane (1 lane each direction) separated by eucalyptptus trees and a couple of stop signs...hence the reference to a highway rather than a freeway. And yes It does not matter in the context of the song as your or their, synopsis of the song is 100% on the money
