It looks like a long artillery shell, with flight fins on the backend! It had to be fairly heavy, to hit and penetrate the ship. It was moving slower than an artillery shell would, because you could see it with the eye, hitting the target. 17 inch diameter, doesn't put it far off in size to the Sparrow missile. But the distance it had to travel may have been different, and its mission was to hit the ship, not a radar site.

The target ship during the live fire exercise in the Marianas did not appear to be moving, even though it was claimed to be a “moving target”
@MrGunderfly6 ай бұрын
the videos do not appear to show the ship target "moving". the footage shows the ship target bobbing unstabilized with the ambient sea waves. it would be misleading if this footage, shown while talking about this test, (officially portrayed); "this new land launched missle hit a moving target at sea", were footage of the actual(?) test. this footage does not appear show the ship moving except for normal, subtle wave actions.

@@Chainsaw-ASMRthat's just stock footage of other Sinkex. You won't find any video of SM-6 tests in Sinkex or PrSM anytime soon, at least that's what I believe. @@MrCoors68 I never claimed that was an SM-6. My point is that just as we've had live fire tests with other missiles and had no footage reveal, the same is true for this missile. And now for the conjecture, since it has been years since the tests with SM-6 striking naval and land targets with no footage released, the same scenario is most likely with PrSM. It might be years before we see actual test footage of PrSM attacking moving ships.

What a great capability PRSM cap 2 could do to to become a very long range fast anti ship missile launched from a ship's Mk41 Strike length VLS that would take just 15 minutes to reach a 1000km ranged ship or land target. The Tomahawk cruise missile would take say 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach this similar range. The PRSM cap 2 missile at 17 inches diameter could easily fit into a ships Mk 41 VLS Strike length cell of which is 21 inch diameter and could easily fit length as well.

This video would have been much more convincing before the NATO equipment failures in Ukraine. Even the ATACMS in this video has had minimal success compared to the Russian grinding war of attraction against Ukraine. It's clear that Russia has the advantage in just about all types of munitions from a 5 to 1 advantage in some munitions up to 10 to 1 in others. With some types of munitions, such as the FAB glide bombs (FAB250, FAB500, FAB1000, FAB 1500 and FAB3000) the Ukrainian have no equal. And before the back an forth of messages, yes Ukraine have JDAM's hidden somewhere but they have no way of launching them, as the few planes they have left can't get close enough to the Frontline to launch the JDAM'S.
