Thank you so much. All your videos have help me, I still have my French accent, but now people can understand me and I actually feel a hell lot more comfortable. I don't know what I would have done without your videos!

@ahai1968 Actually, I'm a 5th generation American-born German. My relatives came from Schlesig-Holstein in 1850 on the ship called the Ottilie out of Bremen and settled in Nebraska, which has a large German-American population. I moved to California over 20 years ago, but that's my heritage. For political reasons, most German-Americans gave up their language and didn't pass it on to their children, so while I have studied some German in college, I don't speak it well.

@cmalazo Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts! (I wish there were). You have to speak English and hang out with people who have the accent you desire on a regular basis. It works!

In the 1850's in the US, the Germans were farmers and migrated to the midwest, and then German immigrants tended to marry other German immigrants. For years Germans were the largest ethnic group in America, but that is now changing, and people are also marrying outside their ethnic groups much more these days, but not true from 1850-1990, so yes, I'm 100% German immigrant, but no one in my family has spoken German as a first language since the 1860's.

@monzzydawg No, I'm a 100% ABG (American Born German) ... just have a Swedish last name because my husband's mother remarried a man with a Swedish name ... he's German too.
