Actually, you can hold out the rolling R that you mentioned, and in some languages, it can be considered a "helping" vowel in certain situations. The American R on the other hand CAN NOT be held for long at all.

Oh my goodness thanks a lot about your great lesson,i have been learning more from you but my question is that why does My English accent seem to be fake?
@rachelsenglish11 ай бұрын
Hi Masamba! That's a good question! Sometimes an accent can feel "fake" when it sounds too close to an imitation of another person's sound or speech pattern. I suggest adding some free speaking practice to your practice sessions, and try to discover what makes your voice sound like you. When you're doing imitation practice, imitate lots of different native speakers, so you can choose a variety of elements to build into your own version of American English.

Hello Rachel ! I have the particularity to mimic almost every sounds of languages I know and others too with or without accent. It's a question of practice, ear and mimics. The sound you produce is different from the inner sound you feel and hear at the same time. Most of people use the sounds of their mother language to try to speak another language. I noticed that every language is made of sounds and intonations that are different from other languages. Phil, Belgium. Peace.
