I am very excited for this video! From what I've been able to find I believe this is the first ever inflight footage to be posted of American's brand new Boeing 787-9! So join me on this hop from DFW-LAX, as we become some of the very first people to ever fly on his magnificent new aircraft! I normally don't post videos so close to the time I actually took the flight because I'm so behind in footage, but when I realized no one else had any American 787-9 uploaded I wanted to get this out to you guys asap. So next week we'll have two tropical videos since I used today for this :). I know a lot of you really look forward to tropical Fridays. Also just a little announcement. In about a week and a half. We are talking the 24th-28th. I am planning a international trip, and may not have good internet, so just giving everyone a lot of notice here if I am unable to upload during this time. Anyways more on that trip later. For now Enjoy this awesome footage!

Skylite Productions Before new inter-continental planes can fly over water the planes go through what I was told by my dad "The planes have to exceed a certain amount of flying hours." According to a Continental Airlines crew. (In January, 2001 when I was a baby I was on a brand new Boeing 777. From Miami to Newark. (My dad asked the flight crew, that was there answer.) That is why you were on a domestic flight on a 787-9. (R.I.P.: Continental Airlines.)

The take off was cool watching the jet speeding down the runway parallel to your plane. DFW looks like a massive airport. I'd love to fly on the 787 someday it is so quiet and advanced.
@sla315 жыл бұрын
DFW is massive, and the 787 is quite the aircraft. Thanks for watching my friend!

YES!!! YES!!! THE DREAMLINER!!!!! YEAH, BABY!!! Y'all wanna see how it's made? Check this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXu9nGysg7hrhKc 1:55 Big engine! Specs? 2:08 Nice tall window view! 3:35 NICE CABIN! Looks like you have ample legroom! How was the waist room in the chair? Also, did you enjoy the Independence Day sequel? I enjoyed it enough! 4:54 SO COOL that y'all take off while the AEagle bird lands! Too sweet to see, dude! 5:55 Arlington is still looking good! 7:05 Beautiful turn shot! 11:05 Coke and European cookies! Even in Coach, it's still fancy to a degree! 13:58 Ice or sand? I couldn't tell! 14:26 I initially thought that was Tucson Intl. down there, but the runway maps down match. Any guesses? 14:52 Beautiful mountains! 16:05 A valley in the canyons! Sounds like home to me! 18:43 Gotta cut through a blanket! Not the most pleasant thing to fly into, unless you have VERY good instruments to help! 20:05 SoCal under a blanket! No wonder is always warm out there! 21:51 Nice touch! How 'shaky' were the reversers? Not that much? 23:09 AWESOME parting shot of the Dreamliner! The distinctive tail end of the engine casing is how I can ID the Dreamliner! Looked like a dream inside, man! And the ride complimented it! I just wish the engine didn't obstruct the scenery like it did! Oh, well! The machine was the REAL star of this vid, anyway! Great vid, man! Keep 'em coming!

Thanks for sharing that link man! That's a rare look inside Boeing's assembly plant! At 1:55 then engines are massive on the 787s. There are two options for engines when it comes to the 787. First you have the General Electric GEnx-1B, or the Rolls Royce Trent 1000. American happened to choose General Electric engines for their 787s. Their specs are pretty impressive. Each engine delivers a massive 72,300 lbf or pound-force. At 2:08 the 787s have by far the biggest windows of any commercial aircraft I have flown on... I have yet to fly on a A350 though, so I'm not sure how they compare to the new Airbus. Typically Airbus aircraft have smaller windows though. At 3:35 I was lucky enough to get a seat in the brand new "premium economy" section on this flight. The new 787-9s in American's fleet will no longer have First, Business, and Economy. They all have First, Premium Economy, and Economy. The seat was excellent. It was a 2-3-2 configuration in this secant, as compared to 3-3-3 in regular economy, so you ended up with a very wide seat for "economy" that induced a very generous amount of recline, and a built in foot rest. Of course you can't forget the personal entertainment, but every seat on this aircraft has that. Overall I would definitely recommend "Premium Economy" to anyone who is looking at booking it in the future. As I have told several other people it was nicer/better than first class seats on any of American's narrow body domestic planes (738, S80, 321, etc....). Also the Independence Day equal was ok :D. It was enough to keep me entertained while I wasn't recording. At 4:54 I think that is one of the best parts of this video! A drag race that we all knew the 787 would win :). At 11:05 the cookies are definitely good, but this is the big disadvantage to "Premium Economy" on domestic flights. They don't feed you like they would if it were "Business." However, this point is kind of moot, as this aircraft will only be running domestic flights for a short time before it goes almost 100% international. At 13:58 that is sand. I 99% sure that is White Sands Missile Range/Holloman Air Force Base located near Alamogordo New Mexico. If you look at our flight path for that day it would collaborate that suspicion. At 14:26 that would be Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. At 14:52 they are beautiful indeed. They were chosen for the thumbnail for a reason :). At 18:43/20:05 that is typical LA for you. If it's not cloudy it's smoggy. At 21:51 they weren't bad at all. In fact the whole landing was pretty smooth for it being such a big airplane. A lot of times the big airplanes have hard landings due to their massive size. But, not on this flight. The crew did a great job putting her down. At 23:09 both os those are signature features for sure! Thanks for watching my friend! I always appreciate it!

Thanks for this video. I have been waiting to see this very plane since my wife and I booked this plane and flying it to Madrid in March. How were the Premium Economy seats? We are sitting in Premium Economy and I can't wait to get on this plane.
@sla318 жыл бұрын
It was excellent. The Premium Economy seats are nicer than first class on any domestic aircraft. They had a great amount of leg room, with decent recline, and footrests on every seat. Of course you had the personal entertainment systems as well. Overall I think they will be great seats for a long haul flight. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video thank you for posting this. Would you recommend this plane to fearful flyers like myself?
@sla315 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed it. As for your question. I think the 787 would be a great plane for fearful flyers. It's very quiet, spacious, and since it's larger it tends to have a smoother ride. Now that isn't always the case, but the larger the wings, the more bumps get distributed over that surface area. I love flying on the 787. Thanks for watching!

You are very lucky to fly this new aircraft. How you enjoyed the flight. Great moment when the CRJ landed during the takeoff roll. Which class where you seated? Premium econ?
@sla318 жыл бұрын
It was a great flight. We took a bit of delay at DFW for a cooling pump issue, which then caused us to miss our slot into LAX. Overall we were over an hour behind our scheduled arrival, but I didn't hear much of any complaining from passengers. That just goes to show that even brand new planes can have maintenance issues. Most of what I heard was people talking about how nice the plane was. I too thought that was a excellent part of the video. The CRJ landing right was we started our takeoff roll. And yes I was seated in 10L which is American's new "Premium Economy" which was very nice. It was nicer than first class on most other airplanes. I would definitely recommend a Premium Economy seat. Thanks for watching man!

Interesting winglets, the plane is a 787, I know, but I swear they look like Airbus winglets :P

That's only looking from the inside though, they're completely different from the outside

The winglets on the 787s are very cool. On the ground you can't even really tell they are there, but in the air the wing comes alive, and suddenly there are the winglets! Thanks for watching my friend!
