The circumstance reminds me of Eastern Airlines Flight 401 back in 1972, when a problem with a landing gear light took up so much of the crew's time that they stopped flying the aircraft, and it crashed in the Everglades.

What I don’t understand is why didn’t the controller explain to the pilot that he had no radar ,and of course why didn’t the American Airlines captain report when he passed TULUA?
@clintchauvin94673 жыл бұрын
They said it in the show. He reset the flight path so it disappeared bc he thought the controller said something else. There was miscommunication on where he was actually supposed to be at.

Doesn’t watch what he put in the auto nav, doesn’t check in with planned way points, doesn’t notice plane veering off course. gets lost in a mountain range and doesn’t climb to a safe alt. Didn’t properly communicate with ATC. Wtf kinda pilot. 🤦🏽♂️

According to Michelle in a podcast, she did an interview on she said the pilots were disoriented from unfiltered air from the engine that was leaking oil. It affected their ability to think clearly.

The captain showed extremely poor judgement, that landing would have been almost impossible in the day time,at night without or not obeying proper instructions that same landing is nothing short of sheer suicide.

The cockpit interaction is so real in this one. I can definitely sympathize with those guys. "Talua is fucked up." I actually laughed at that. Also is their a word for the opposite of survivor's guilt? Because that girl definitely has it

In Europe trains go much faster, and generally mag-lev trains even faster than that. Slow trains are a US phenomenon. It’s over the ocean that planes become incredibly convenient

I’m not sure where you from but in America. Trains aren’t a huge thing here. Like yeah the subways and regular trains in big cities to get to other spots on the cities themselves. They aren’t like a big thing to do here. I want to go to Europe or even Japan. The advancements in trains are so cool places there. Bucket list is like France or around the alps

No ATC radar caused the crash. All the pilots actions were a result of the lack of radar. As for the victims, we are all victims of "time and chance".

The pilots definitely made mistakes, but I don't like that ALL the blame is put on them. I can't believe that they continued to operate that airport without a functioning radar. Had that radar been functional, the controller could've avoided this crash. But, as usual, Capitalism values financial profit over human life, which in this case means that the airline industry wouldn't tolerate an airport of that size to miss any scheduled flights and the fare money that came with it. What A Cover Up It IS to put the whole blame on the pilots when Capitalist GREED played such a big role as well. The narrator kept repeating that this plane was so technologically sophisticated, but what good is that when your ground navigational capabilities are out of commission ???
@JKevinBrady801 Жыл бұрын
The pilots showed poor judgement but they were led astray - nothing to do with greed - the radar was inoperable due to a civil war in Columbia, because of this crash technology has gotten WAY safer - it was the start of the technology and the pilots relied too much on it
@JKevinBrady801 Жыл бұрын
Further - the ground radar MIGHT have helped the tower, but not the pilots - when they entered the beacon to Cali, Tulsa and Rozo disappeared making it much harder for them to figure out where they were - that has been corrected on all aircraft after this - there were a number of things that caused this, but capitalism was not one of them - government usually screws things up - what we need is capitalism with government oversight - both

The biggest or really the only mistake I see in the realism profile in this video, is the idea that it was sunny and clear like a warm summer day in NYC on December 20th, in almost every year. Though it is in fact possible to have that weather, it would not be possible to have the atmospheric disturbances that rise from the ground, caused by the warm, sun heated ground air rising into the cooler ambient air temps, (commonly referred to as a "mirage"). But I really feel like I'm nitpicking, its important to point that out lest somebody travel to NYC at Christmas and expect this kind of weather 😃
