I just finished the movie. I think it was a very clever film, mixing in a documentary vibe with a heist film.

This took place in my hometown. I was young, but I remember how big of a deal it all was. My older brother knew Evan Peters' character kinda well (a total asshole, by all accounts), and I went to a soccer camp taught by his dad (actually a pretty nice guy). On a side-note, people not from Kentucky always seem super surprised and weirded out when they learn that Transylvania University is a real place.
@tximinoman6 жыл бұрын
It probably is because it's called Transylvania University but it's in Kentucky. It's kind of like if NYU was in Bogota (but it still standed to New York University).

Oddly enough, I knew an extremely minute amount about the actual caper years ago! My teacher for English 101 had gone online to find random articles for us to edit as many an online article seems to have the most horrendous of grammar and spelling! Apparently, he had family from Kentucky and he knew of this and just decided to dig for related articles and while the main point wasn't to get too involved with the article's content and just edit it sometimes you cannot help it and this one was no exception! 😀!

The "heist" is so much better than Ocean's 8. There were actually intense moments.

This movie gives off that modern college/indie feel if you could not tell from the trailer, but I ended up enjoying it. The heist scenes and the emotions before and after were portrayed so well! Super suspenseful and uneasy! The way it was edited with documentary interview from the real guys was a bit odd, but looking back I would definitely prefer it like that rather than not having the real people in the film and just the actors doing their thing. Is it an amazing movie? No. An instant classic for the ages? No. Is it good and worth the watch? Yes. Is it close to 2 hours and a bit of a slow burn? Yeah.

I'm so happy you liked this. Not that I think that "because you liked it I'm going to like it too" because there have been a lot of times where that hasn't happened. But ever since I saw the trailer I wanted to see this so knowing critics liked it is kind of reassuring.

Many movies with "American" in the name end up making Americans looking shameful. The rest of the world probably thinks, "oh look, another movie about Americans. Ugh."
@Kimyboy136 жыл бұрын
European here. That's not the case. For my friends and I "American Psycho", "American Gangster", "American Graffiti", etc. are good movies that we enjoy. Having American in the title does not change our perception of your country (they are just movies). The most off-putting American thing in movies for most foreigners is probably the American patriotism.

Was that also about University students stealing millions of dollars in books? Or you just saw "heist" and your pea brain made what limited connections it's capable of? By your logic you're also related to Selena Gomez?

Instead of getting some black friends to add some spice to their lives or at least getting punched in the face for eventually saying the n word. Let’s rob a library full of expensive books. Which was never convincing it would work because I knew the logistics would bind them up. It did. Also slow ass start I was falling out in the theatre. Which I guess that’s a truth about heist. It is 70% brain power and the rest action. When it got good though, it was just that. Good. 7/10.

Would have been better either 100% as a fictionalization or as a documentary. The blending was extremely upsetting to me
@natestarz71096 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Every time they'd cut to the interview with the real life robber it would ruin the flow of the movie.
