Here is the lyrics :d [Verse 1] It comes and goes in waves It always runs back but it's never quite the same Well I think there's something wrong with me Got nothing to believe, can't you see it on my face [Pre-Chorus] I was going for the title, got hit by your tidal wave, uh Can't stay in the shallows, please tell me I won't wash away [Chorus] When it pulls me under, will you make me stronger Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water Take me farther, give me one day longer Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water [Post-Chorus] (Deep water) (Deep water) [Verse 2] Ain't even scratched the surface Thinking I deserve the dream but I don't deserve the hurting I want the flame without the burning But I can't find my purpose when I don't know what my worth is [Pre-Chorus] I was going for the title, got hit by your tidal wave, uh Can't stay in the shallows, please tell me I won't wash away [Chorus] When it pulls me under, will you make me stronger Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water Take me farther, give me one day longer Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water [Post-Chorus] (Deep water) (Deep water) [Bridge] When I'm sinking like a stone At least I know I'm not alone When I'm sinking like a stone At least I know I'm not alone [Chorus] When it pulls me under, will you make me stronger Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water Take me farther, give me one day longer Will you be my breath through the deep, deep water [Post-Chorus] (Deep water) When I'm sinking like a stone (Deep water) At least I know I'm not alone [Outro] It comes and goes in waves It always runs back but it's never quite the same

I love american authors and listen to their music daily, but this resonates with me so much and I've realized why, it has the same sound and impact that imagine dragons have on me. That slow start up, the big drop, the powerful chorus, the metoaphirical symbols sprinkled through the entire song, the beautiful lyrics, the just power that this song resonates.
@byuftbl Жыл бұрын
I never thought about that but it is very similar to some of Imagine Dragons style. In a round about way I met and found out about American Authors through ID. Because I got to know ID before they got famous, and other bands locally played shows with them, and I kept meeting more and more local bands. Eventually bringing me to find Foreign Figures (another band you should look up if you like this style of music) who opened for American Authors once, so that’s how I met AA.

I'll get a lot of grief from the replies for saying this but this is probably the most "Christian" song i've ever heard from a non-Christian artist. Identity, relationship, and purpose all in that order in these lyrics. That faith doesn't hold the monopoly on those ideas, i'm sure the are self-help books that try to make it work, but it's definitely the foundation of only that faith when put in that specific order. I know these aren't the actual lyrics, but the first time I heard this song I had to look up the lyrics b/c I thought he said: Take me *Father, give me one day longer
@smittencounter6 жыл бұрын
I'm also not saying that I know the intentions of the song or whether the artist is personally a believer, I don't know whether he is or not. I just meant that the band isn't a Christian band... or am I wrong in that? I'm just saying what I observed, haven't done any study on the band. Love their sound and lyrics though!
