Watching these girls dancing I'm reminded of my teenage years in the 60's. Pretty girls, who took a pride in their appearance. Slim, pert bottoms, not like the kettle drums they seem to carry around today. But most of all NO tattoos. ai'm 74 now, but night after night I come back for my nostalgia trip. Better than any drugs.

Amazing! The detailed info you - our "YouCanDanceToIt" author. Following the guidelines of "who's who" in these episodes of American Bandstand sure bring the viewers to a more personal level of appreciation in the people back then. As said before by me: Dick Clark was a master in showmanship during his life time. He obviously like that 1960's collection of youth for the most part. I was seventeen-and-a-half when this March, '68 show was on. Sometimes I wish I had been in that select group of teens for an episode.

I was just born that year. What a great year! Honestly, most of the 'kids" seem older than they are. I think society expected people to mature quicker back then. By the time you were 15 and 16, you were expected to have a part time job and finish school. After graduation, provide for yourself. Now we have extended childhoods for people past 30 it seems.

That's so true. I worked since 9yrs old, taking care of a 2 & 4yr old for pay! I cleaned the neighbors house for pay at 10yrs; learning to never say I was bored! By 11yrs. I was put in the cotton fields w my bro & parents; all to teach me to stay in school! I was also told, "Don't get pregnant!" No instructions about how not to except, " Avoid every occasion for sin.". Someone should teach kids that people come from either a taking/hating base or a giving/loving base. I didn't learn that until I was 38yrs. old. It's 1 of the best things I ever ever learned in my life.

I must get some help! I keep coming back to this clip to enjoy the music, and the dancers. In 1965, Jean Shrimpton, a British model (AKA "The First Super Model") came Down Under and caused outrage when she wore a skirt 5 inches above her knees to a function in Melbourne. It was Jean who changed womens' fashion for ever. Ever since I saw Peggy (e.g. @3:45), I thought she bore a more than passing resemblance to Jean. Around the time this clip went to air, I met The Light In My Darkness, who I thought (at that time) looked a little like Jean Shrimpton & then I found YCDYI & Peggy, who also looks a little like both of them. The Light & I are still together & my cup runneth over... I'll keep right on watching...!!!🤣😂🤣😂😘🤡

Well Aaron since most of the AB dancers were still in high school -- which had dress codes -- the ladies' skirt length was still a huge issue in 1967. Clothes worn on Bandstand had to double for daily wear at school. Skirt lengths would continue to be an issue for a couple of more years.

Hi Don, Those sideburns are looking a little long today. Was the hippie movement working its way down the I-5? Lol, just kidding. You and Peg (I love when Dick calls her that) looked great. Be honest though, were you singing “....you and me endlessly” or “....you and me and Leslie”? Lol. From the ‘68 and ‘69 episodes, it looks like skirt lengths will get a lot shorter before they ever go down. I feel sorry for those teachers having to enforce dress codes in the 60’s.

This really brings back many great memories. great music, great dancing. love to see how well groomed we were. did run around with tears in our pants, wore suits and ties respected each other. Times have drastically changed. hate to see it hasn't changed for the better as far as dress and class go. Even our "stars" set a bad example with their torn jeans, very low cut dresses.

I remember thinking long skirts below the knees was awful and that I would never wear them. Well I ended up wearing them below the knees in the late 70's when maxi skirts were in style and years later short skirts looked strange to me when they came back in style. By then I didn't have the legs for short skirts anymore so to this day I wear them long but mostly wear pants.

Every decade has brought good longstanding hits by great bands...I remember the young rascals..I really like the singer's voice..and Chicago..what can I say...the song Color my world still makes me close my eyes and drift away ,making me feel like a hopeless romantic which I was .

That's a very good comment. However I can't remember any great bands from the last decade that produced any outstanding and longstanding hits. Unfortunately we have been overtaken by Rap, which allows people with no singing ability to dominate the charts. The more gangsta it sounds, the more popular it seems to be. Sigh. In fact on reflection, you can say the same for the last two decades.

Hi Peggy! I was a little confused when Dona said she was 16 and you are 17 here. I thought I might be mistaken thinking she is older than you. I guess it’s a ladies (and men too) prerogative to fudge their age a bit, lol. I love when you guys switch up dance partners too. It seems like they rarely did that back in Philadelphia which I think made the show a little stale at times...just my opinion. I love watching these clips as much as anyone and I’m really glad you are enjoying them too. And thank you and your friends for not starting the mid-calf length dresses, yikes! It’s nice to see you around! :) -Aaron

@@YCDTI Maybe she was trying to scoot under the age limit...HAHA! Or maybe she just had a lapse of consciousness. Everyone knew that Famous was way to old to be of the age requirements for the show but everyone loved him! Aaron...we were all trying our best to buck the establishment and express ourselves but AB was not the platform for that.

Love this video! Could you post anymore of those “throwback” AMB videos? It’s beyond trippy to see kids from ‘67 dancing to Jan and Dean’s single from five years prior. Man how quickly popular music and styles changed in the 60s. Everything from ‘66 onwards seemed light years ahead of the early part of the decade.

The (Young) Rascals' guitarist Gene Cornish was raised in Rochester NY (my hometown!) and played in bands there before making that trip to NYC to join Felix, Eddie and Dino. One of my favorite groups. BTW - would you happen to have the Buckinghams' clip? (Don't You Care is a fave!)

The Buckinghams performed “Kind of a Drag” and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” on today’s episode. Unfortunately I don’t have any clips of them performing or the kids dancing to “Don’t You Care” (another great song). Sorry.
