Burt is a true genius. I need to go back and listen to everything he's ever written. Jackie is so amazing - no earthly words to describe that girl.

Does anyone know if her version of Bette Davis Eyes, which she co wrote, made the charts? I recently heard her version and it was pretty good.

It was never put out as a single , just an album track but it would never have been a hit for Jackie as she is far too good to be mainstream.

I have thought that he was the guitar player when Miss Jackie sang Needles and Pins outdoors

What the World Needs Now was one of the biggest songs of the summer of 1965, the best summer God ever made. The music, thick with the British Invasion (Beatles) and innovative sounds..the fashions, the excitement of the times, was indescribable. This song, a beautiful and fabulous song, hit number one for a long time in that glorious summer when life was filled with happiness and optimism before the late sixties when everything went bad and from which we have never recovered.

No idea what you mean by “thick with the British Invasion”. The only way I know for music to be “thick” is to have too much doubling in the orchestration, and I don’t see how “What the World Needs Now” has the slightest thing to do with the Beatles.

@@jeffryphillipsburns You miss the point. I was describing the times that the song came out. It WAS the era of the Beatles when everything they touched was affected by Beatlemania and the times were exciting as hell. It was the height of their powers in that year. The song's lyrics and orchestration were beautiful and mirrored the times which were themselves beautiful and innocent. If you weren't there no explanation is possible. If you were there no explanation is necessary.

1965 was certainly a transformative year in pop culture. Changing so rapidly and quickly. It sounds like you grew up in that era. That was a little before my time, but I believe you had to have lived it to understand it. It sounds incredible just by the way you describe it. An era never to be repeated again. A renaissance of art and culture.

All of the invasion(s) were orchestrated: music, slogans : "sex, drugs & rock 'n roll," fashion, drugs, food (introduction of fast food, soda and sugar moreso than the 1950s, cars, etc). Music From Laurel Canyon opens eyes as well as the book, "Plastic Macca, The Death and Replacement of Beatle Paul McCartney" by Tina Foster. Everything is an agenda... And yes, the Beatles were terrific until the replacements were inserted (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band). The author of "Plastic Macca" has many interviews online. The current fake Paul (Faul) McCartney is William Campbell (aka Bill or Billy as in Billy Shears - the one who sheared the sheep, ie, the audience/fans/the public worldwide. Heather Mills was paid off to be silent....
