Best dogs for sure. My cocker lived 17 years. She was a female and honey color. She was such a loving animal and was great with my small children who grew up with her.

Well what can I say.. I just lost my Fur baby 13 year - 2 month old cocker spanial "Dusty" He was the love of my life. He knew and I knew it was supposed to be when we first laid eyes on each other. Made in heaven, and he gave me more joy and love beyond compare. I love him, and miss him terribly. Cocker Spaniels are our children. Mine was luv bug, confidant, friend, son, soul mate, spiritual bond, etc.. I hope some day to have another.....

I have had 3 American cockers myself, and our daughter 2 of her own. I always dog-sit her dogs so I really have had access to more than one cocker baby at a time. This is my breed.... I know and understand these dogs, and their mind and feelings. they want companionship so much, they want to sleep next to us, they want walks, and cuddling and will guard the house if necessary. they play play and play and then suddenly plop down, -play is over. My cocker now is chocolate brown and white and looks so much like the cockers in this video. my previous cockers have been buff, and one was red, and my daughter has had chocolate brown and also a blond working cocker, sweetest most beautiful dog I have ever seen. I do think that cockers need to start WITH small children because if they are not exposed to little kids early, they don't quite understand them. Our cocker knows SHE is the baby and isn't too understanding of the little 3 year old short kid running after her! love love this breed. Their names have been Duffy, Shelby, Molly, Ranger and now Abby named for NCIS Abby.

I had 3 Cocker Spaniels, and my parents had 2, so they've been our family dog forever. Max was adopted from the shelter, and I never got him out of his separation anxiety, but in time I got him down to a 30-second howl, so no, they don't like to be alone as a rule. Ricky was my Dad's puppy and I adopted him at 7 months when my Dad passed. He was high energy. Lucy was my red girl that I found after Max passed. She was active, but not high energy, and remarkably she did well being at home when I went to work. All of them were my furry kids and great pets. Cockers are prone to certain diseases, and I think any video about any breed should include discussion of these issues. When they are young, cherry eye can be an issue. As they age, cataracts also are common. They, are also prone to glaucoma which requires expensive vet care, drug therapy, and most of the time eye removal. Seizures are also common with Cocker Spaniels, which is something I did not know until Lucy started having them at the age of 10. Until Lucy became 10, I had no idea these ailments are more common in Cocker Spaniels than other breeds. Lucy passed at Christmas. Even tho she had every ailment under the sun it seemed, I love the breed, and am starting to look for another furry kid.

Love them to bits. I had 3 dog ladies, all American cockers. Such sweet loving breed. They are so affectionate with their family. Also we had little issues with them being alone for reasonable amount of time. The worst thing that happened were some torn tissues left lying on a table. :-)

I am thinking of getting my 8-year-old nephew a dog for his birthday. My sister said she's okay with it. Is this a good dog for active 8-year-old boys. I want one that's friendly and won't bite him.
@BrigitteDolphinhawk4 жыл бұрын
Any dog will bite. Just depends on how they were raised. In my opinion im afraid of Chihuahuas and love pitbulls. But either way I think 8 might be a little young. Your sister will just end up taking care of it

Willow my buff cocker spaniel passed at age 9 from spinal cancer. I think of her every day two and a half years later. Best dog every, perfectly housetrained, sweet, loving, social butterfly loved children other dogs, cats, people and life. Service Animal, 10 flights in the cabin, good as gold. We were very closely bonded and it was as if my soul was ripped from my body the day I had to send her across the rainbow bridge. We will be together again, I will have a chewnola for you sweet Willow.

I think all spaniels look much handsomer with shorter, docked tails.
@hotwater11965 жыл бұрын
tail docking is disgusting and embarassing
@laurenmonteiro6164 жыл бұрын
@@hotwater1196 It's for their own well-being; cockers wag their tails extremely vigorously, and it's literally like a whip when it's not docked, cracking into walls and such. They are also hunting dogs, and the tail is likely to get tangled in thick brush posing a serious risk of injury. I promise you, they are perfectly happy with their little nub tails.
@hotwater11964 жыл бұрын
@@laurenmonteiro616 they'd be happier the way they are born. why would you defend something like this? it's illegal all over the world except for the psychotically violent usa.

My wife has one and he’s the most annoying little thing creates nothing but problems... I’m not dissing the breed I’m just not a huge fan of them and I don’t think he’s a huge fan of me. He barks and barks a lot it loud and he makes the mess of a even larger dog breed. Not one I recommend. Unless you got a lot of time and money. I hate how our dog doesn’t fit in the quality’s you listed and you did not once show a ginger colored one.
