When you visit Robben Island, you will learn about Robert Sobukwe who was isolated from other prisoners and barred from talking to other humans until he died. The apartheid government considered him to be the most dangerous terrorist during the apartheid era. The truth is the man was very intelligent and he was influencing people to fight for their human rights. The government went to extra effort to try and delete audio or video where he was speaking. He was one of the greatest leaders. In the history books, they don't talk much about his legacy.

Just some corrections on the video, the second Anglo Boer war was ended when the English and Afrikaaners agreed to share the resources of the land at the expense of the majority black. The Land Act of 1912 is when black people en masse started being forcefully removed from their land. The prime minister who initiated Apharteid was HF Vervoerd, who was a foreigner. In the early 90s, the most radical leaders were systematically eliminated to avoid resolving the land issues during the codesa negotiations that our new country is based on, as a result we have the most unequal society expected to compete on an open market, condemning the majority of people to generational poverty and subjugation.

I think the Bantu actually moved from the middle eastern and western parts of Africa not South African. It was so as to run from the Arabian Slave trade (one of the biggest in the world) and moved to the south where they found, fought and settled with Koisan. The groups split into different clans because of the Lifaqane wars... some clans were eradicated and some joined each other to form kingdoms. Also... the Freestate was actually not South African land... but of Lesotho.

This is the history the books teach... The books love painting with a biased brush... It's sad really, because if even us South Africans could learn the real history about all of the cultures, maybe we'd be able to see each other's points of view and we'd be able to settle our diffences. But the histories that can actually shed light on the reasons for all the hate and bring peace is omitted. (Meaning someone with power doesn't want peace)

The KHOISAN were original. The Herero are Bantu. The only difference between the Khoi and the San is that the Khoi were herders and the San hunter gatherers. The Banto moved into southern Africa areound the 2nd or 3rd century CE. Most South Africans are a =mixture of Bantu and Khoisan.

When the Dutch East India Company established Cape Town, it was to replenish the sailing ships running to what is now Indonesia to trade in spices. A few farmers would grow produce and rear animals for this purpose. There was no intent to colonize the rest of South Africa.
