You asked for tips, so this became a long post. :p I was on a pretty similar trip in Tanzania, abt 10 yrs ago and I highly recommend people to visit this beatiful and fun country. I stayed in Dar es Salaam for a week, traveled to Arusha by bus, and stayed in Arusha for about 1,5 month where we rented a house from a local family. We also went on safari in Ngorogoro-crater, and stayed at a luxery tent resort for a couple days in the wilderness. Later we went back to Dar by a small plane, and got a ferry over to Zanzibar for abt 2 week. I have to say Tanzania is an amazingly diverse country, and I had the best time! The worst things though were the unhinged traffic in some of the cities, the big difference between middleclass and poor, and the longdistance transport methods. (The 16 hour busride had no toilet onboard, and we only had 1 stop the first 10 hrs were we could do everything in 30 min (eat, wc, etc)). My main tips from this journey, if you plan to do something similar is 1: Rent an apartment/house from a local in Arusha. You learn so much, and get involved in the local communities in a different way than staying at a hotel/resort. We were greeted by the entire fam on arrival, they had cooked up a storm for us. They even had an auntie bussed in from a different city to help with the housework. We didnt know this at the time, and I found it a bit wierd that there suddenly was a woman in our house, washing things. She explained by pointing, since she only spoke swahili. We figured out that "she came with the rent" beacuse the property needed to be maintained by someone who knew how to do things there. After trying to do most things ourselves we realized we needed a lot of help, and became very grateful of her. Of course we tipped her extra even though they said it wasnt necassary. 2: learn some swahili, and try to learn something new every day. It will be useful and people will talk more with you. If you learn some masaai, even better! 3: Dont eat raw salad/ vegetables only washed in normal water. It is so easy to get food poisining. I got it first week. From a very fancy restaurant. 4: Bring medical kit with you everywhere. Bandages, gas, wound cleaner etc. 5: Dont use the motorcycletaxis (boda bodas). They are fun, but the driving on these are reckless, and we saw or heard of accidents almost daily. Bajajis and buses/minibuses are safer. 6: Learn the meaning of Pole Pole. You will hear it a lot if you stress around. Also, instead of 'hakuna matata' they say 'hakuna shida'. 7: It can get Very dark early, if you stay outside the city. Dont go strolling without knowing where you are late in the evening. 8: Women need to cover their shoulders and chest a lot of places. Its not a law, but people might react. Especially older generations and religious areas/people. If you stay in Dar, people mostly doesnt mind, but otherwise your best bet is to avoid it. I dont think it is polite for men to walk around topless either. I dont think I saw anyone do that around town. Final tip: If you are going to Zanibar, research wich side of the island you want to stay at, as they are very different. I think in the north is the party-side, east, religious side, west, calm and a bit boring-side (where we stayed :p) and south.. I dont remember. Ppl, correct me if I remember wrong. Just look into it before you book.

Check out ADDI (African Diaspora Development Institute) they're hosting a conference in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. I think it's happening in April, hundreds, if not thousands of African Americans have already signed up. Through the influence of ADDI there's a growing community of African Americans that have moved to Zimbabwe since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic

Masai are originally from Tanzania but the British divided some of them to Kenya because they were in the boarder areas both Countries, that has been the divide and rule policy's of the British colonial system in the world. Causing confusion all over , from Pakistan and Afghanistan ( patan) Nigeria and Benin ( egun) etc

What separate the kenyan maasai from Tanzanian maasai is the colonial boarder imposed on them by the colonizers. Otherwise the maasai nation extends both in Kenya and Tanzania housing some of the best and World famous parks in the world like the maasai Mara/Serengeti national park which falls under the same ecosystem known as Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. We also have the ngorongoro national park in Tanzania and on the other side of the boarder they have Amboseli national park in Kenya just to mention a few. So maasailand or maasai nation extends in both sides of the colonial boarders that was imposed on Africans by the colonizers themselves. We had our own nation as a people just like other communities did. By the way l don't like using the word tribe because it's demeaning. The colonizers never referred themselves as tribes in Europe but what to use the name on Africans.

If you happen to visit Kenya please don't go to high end places to look for apartments like most of the tourists do then they complain that Kenya is expensive. Those areas are damn expensive You can get cheaper and beautiful and safe apartments in estates
