I am from NZ, currently live in England (Salford) Chatsworth was the first stately home I ever visited and even walking through the grounds you can feel the effect of centuries of planned landscaping and gardening. Inside was literally mindblowing. I was vey quickly overwhelmed by the amount of historical detritus collected by a family who has lived here for centuries. On back staircase, dimly lit by a bare bulb, I found a 500 year old Tintoretto painting - not behind glass or velvet rope. There were hundreds of visitors but it was so big I was alone most of the time. At one point I sat down in an empty corridor to rest. It was only after i got up that I realised I had been sitting on King George IIIs coronation throne. (Why was it here?) Oh, this bedroom was where the Duke of. Wellington slept? Oh, this is a 5000 year old Egyptian memory stele? Coming from a country where the very oldest buildings were barely 150 years old, Chatsworth was like a dream.

I did it with my kids too, and can't wait to do it with my Granddaughter as.

I once took my mum to Chatsworth, while we were walking round the gardens she told me to watch for someone coming and then proceeded to bend down and steal some seed pods from a pretty flowering plant in the border.😂 When I told her off she said "if the Duke wants to come and steal some of the seed pods from my garden he's more than welcome. 😂 Every spring she would nudge me and tell me her Chatsworth plant was flowering. The house is truly stunning up close, and I really do hope you both get to visit one day.

Its actually lovely to see our Stately Homes and villages through fresh eyes. When I was a child, we visited all the local stately homes with the school on Environmental Studies, which in turn led to me visiting as many as I could, introducing my children to them as a parent. Wherever I go in the country, I try to visit a fresh place. The villages are different because we see them all the time, either driving through or small villages becoming incorporated into towns and cities, although they still keep their charm. Lovely video yet again ladies, thank you 😊

When I lived in Sheffield, Chatsworth was just a short drive away and I always found it to be a popular place for a visit during the warm months. Local people appreciate the opportunity to eat a picnic on the giant lawns and don't abuse the Duke's and Duchess's hospitality by leaving litter. Farm animals wander around the estate, checking out the visitors and posing for pictures, and there is a herd of deer running around the estate too. Of course the house itself is spectacular as this video shows.

It's 30 minutes from where I live so I know it very well. Chatsworth is magnificent, she didn't show many of the rooms, there are so many more that are open for the public. In the warm weather the cascade is filled with children, (of all ages!) all paddling and playing, and the thing which will make it perfect for you two lovely ladies, is that dogs are welcome into the gardens. Yes at Christmas each year the house is decorated beautifully, it's a different theme each year. You would love it!

At the moment Castle Howard, & others are beginning their Christmas 🎄 displays, which are always spectacular.

The other wonderful thing about Britain's stately homes is that apart from being open for visitors, they also stage all sorts of outdoor public events, especially during the summer. It is so special to visit on a long summer evening with a picnic and watch a concert. Close to us is Berkeley Castle, one of the oldest continually inhabited castles in the country. We saw a play of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in the wooded moat, on the 420'th anniversary of the play's creation. We only found out afterwards that in fact the play had been written especially for the wedding of one of the Berkeley family, and was first shown in the exact spot where we saw it 420 years later. Pretty cool.

My dad was a semi-professional kids entertainer and did the Chatsworth House staff Christmas Party for years. Up to the age of about 10, I was his "stooge" and remember a few great Christmas days there. I know I met the Duke and Duchess (they gave me a present even though Dad did not work for them) but I do not really remember them. My dad said they were lovely, down to earth people with no poncy airs and graces. I live about 20 miles from Chatsworth and spend some happy summers days walking round the grounds and house in my own little "Christmas Party" dream world remembering my dad and the fun we had in that great house. Allegedly, the present Duchess spends a lot of time in the gardens "pottering about", I wonder how many of us have had a pleasant chat with a female gardener without realising we were actually talking to Her Grace!!!

I was around 7 or 8 years old at the time and fell in love with Chatsworth and remember clearly the step fountain and all the beautiful grounds as well as the house. I've still got my black and white photos I took of the day some 50 years ago, including a horse and it's foal that were grazing in the grounds. I am surprised she didn't show the Violin and Bow painting which is known as a Trompe l'oeil, an illusion created to make the violin look like it is hanging from the door that was painted around 1723. It took me a few years or more before I returned to visit Chatsworth and was still as in love with the place. If you ever get the chance to go Natasha and Debbie please go, it truly is a beautiful place to visit and explore.

Here's a funny tale about my first visit to Chatsworth House: As an autistic child, my grasp of language was worse back then. In about 1971, my parents told us we were going to visit a stately home (the general term for houses like this that are open to the public). In my ten-year-old, autistic mind, I got this mixed up with 'old people's home'. It didn't help that I had recently visited elderly relatives in a place with 'House' in its title. So I thought to myself, 'Why are they making such a big deal about visiting an old people's home?' Are we going to be walking around just looking at old people?' Needless to say, when we got there, my mind was blown away by what Chatsworth House actually turned out to be

When my kids were small we were having a picnic at the side of the Cascade when an older gentleman wearing Speedos walked up the steps of the Cascade. He got to the top and sat down in the pool, causing some muttering as kids were playing there. Whispers abounded til we heard the kids were OK, the late Duke was just escaping the hot weather and wanted to play with the families enjoying his property. You guys need to visit/stay in Derbyshire and go to the Blue John mines which aren't too far from Chatsworth which has some beautiful vases and ornaments made from this rare form of fluorite. I live in Nottinghamshire but have been to Chatsworth quite a few times, and Bess of Hardwick who is mentioned lived and Built another Hall in Derbyshire where she gets the name she's called by Hardwick Hall. Whi h is less than an hours walk away from my home just over the Notts/Derbyshire border. Hardwick goes by the Motto Hardwick Hall more glass than Wall due to its very large amount of windows, and it saved as a POW camp in the 2nd WW and also the first training site of the Parachute regiment until they moved to their full time barracks a few months later, this is commemorated with a small plaque on the Car Park Wall. Lastly there was also a couple of Spitfires stationed there at the back off the Hall during WW2. Loved watching your reaction to this video as I do most of them hopefully when you come over you can get to see it in person and maybe squeeze Hardwick in as well.

My daughters wedding was held there, and a stage was erected in the grounds for a 70's night by the then Duchess, as she loved the music of that era. The grounds were packed and it ended up with a conga with about 2000 people in it, and my daughter at the head of it in full wedding dress. I now live in Derbyshire about 8 miles away, and ride the Derbyshire Dales on my motorbike. I often arrange my route to ride through the Chatsworth grounds as it has so many good memories. As a Derbyshire lad I always have looked on Chatsworth as the jewel in Derbyshire's crown. In a few days time there will be the Christmas Market there which is well worth a visit. Also the Christmas decorations in the house are stunning! Thank goodness that the House and estate were put into a trust, to escape death duties and so the Duke and family were able to continue living there.

Hi You two I commented o the Eyam video last week. Chatsworth House is about 6 miles from Eyam .You can Drive through Chatsworth Park and its spectacular . Very often see the Deer and of course the sheep in the Park . Roaming freely grazing in all weathers .There is a Nursery where you can restock your Garden with a cafe . also Chatsworth Farm Shop not cheap but very good produce . When I visit my son in Oxford I drive through the Park and buy goodies to take with me . A visit to the house and gardens is amazing Definitely worth it . One of the amazing things is a violin hung on the back of a door . Its actually a painting but you cant tell. . Its a must to visit when you come . You wont ever forget it

I and my partner visited Chatsworth last year on the eay back from a holiday in Yorkshire. It is impressive, beautiful and stunning from a distance. The interior is amazing and the painted ceilings are beautiful. Even the grounds are beautiful and all set against the hills of the Peak District. The waterfall and lake is situated in such a way, that it looks like the house is floating above the lake. We are so blessed in the UK and especially England, with all these beautiful buildings and the history thst goes with it. We really do not at times appreciate what we have abd and sometimes become quite complacement about our history. We are truly lucky.

Another fun fact about Chatsworth House. It had the World's first gravity fed water system, that led to the creation of central heating systems. This was from the stunning 'Emperor Fountain' on the hill above the house. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always been told this as a fact.

I live just 5 minutes drive from Grimsthorpe castle in South Lincolnshire and twenty minutes drive from Burghley House stateley home and gardens also in South Lincolnshire which is in Eastern England. Although I drive past them all the time and admire there beauty in passing I have never actually visited either of them. I think we sometimes just take these things for granted.

I think it depends on the person. I'm not into visiting these sort of places, but I can appreciate the magnificence.

Chatsworth is exactly 20 minutes drive from my home and i visit around 3 or 4 times a year. To see the changes to the landscape throughout the year is magical.

I really really enjoy your reactions to our beautiful country... however ther is some one in the house doesn't !!! We rescued a parrot whose owners sadly died ...he was a visitor here when his owners went on holiday . Now every time he hears Natasha's voice ...he goes crazy , turns up his volume , runs back and forth along his perches ! When I say loud ...I mean loud ! Neighbours call often checking all is okay !! He is now banished to the office whilst I catch up with you both ! Keep doing what you are doing !!

I grew up near here. I still live nearby. I have been in the countryside around the house many times but I've never been into the house and gardens. Having watched this I'm definitely going to have a visit!

Chatsworth is heaving with visitors most weekends during the summer and when they put on special events. Chatsworth farm shop is a favourite of ours. Their restaurant is highly recommended but if you want a cheaper lunch, visit the farm shop deli for a filled cob (bread roll) and a take away cream tea.

It's a 40-minute drive from where my parents live. I've visited a couple of times since I was younger with my parents. Now, I live quite far away in Wales and recently went back with my boyfriend. It's still as stunning and gorgeous as I remember it. While walking around, we were watching your video, serving as a free audio guide tour to learn more about the estate. Despite our busy lives, I guess we're lucky to have estates like this in the country to destress and relax. ❤
