Live you both! As a Scot, I much prefer our "Clootie" Dumpling. (Clootied meaning cloth) a being steamed in a linen cloth so not as heavy and no alcohol. On a personal note, I also lost my Dad on Xmas day. I give a wee thought reminiscing & light a candle and then go & enjoy & celebrate the day. Have a good Xmas and a happy, prosperous 2025. ❤

I love Christmas pudding. I serve custard much, much thicker than that though. I've also never seen double cream in a jar like that. Ours usually comes in a pot like a large yoghurt pot and you have to whisk it to make it thick. Was that a "long life" cream in the jar? Did it have a long sell by date before you opened it, if so I think it's more like our sterilised cream which comes in a can. My grandma used to serve us sterilised cream, it's really old fashioned but tastes amazing!!!

I have to be in the mood for Christmas pudding, and it depends on the maker. Some folks do a very light, steamed pudding that is soaked in alcohol that are truly delicious and appetising. Although I am not a drink, a smidge of alcohol in a pudding is OK. I have yet to encounter a store bought pudding I can tolerate.

PS: better yet, buy a house in West Wales. It'll be half the price, much more - but I'm certainly biased - beautiful countryside, and only an hour or so from Bristol on the M4. Imagine living near The Gower, or in Tenby. Paradise!

Those fall-through stats for the UK are totally misleading (bullshit, to use a less refined but more appropriate term). All those UK stats mean is that you can quickly change your mind - as a buyer or (much more commonly - gazumping-prone bastards!) a seller - and go with a different deal. Lots of irritation because of wasted fees and time, but a much more fluid, auction-style system ultimately. To regard these as out-and-out "fall-throughs" totally skews the stats. They're not comparable. Just make sure you do your homework (lots of homework) and make a decent offer. I'm not trying to argue that the British system is better in any way. It's just different (but better ;)

Merry Christmas from "down under." For many parts of Australia it's too hot to have a traditional (British) hot Christmas meal, so we adapt with cold chicken/BBQ's with steak etc/seafood/ham with salads and pavlova for dessert. Stone fruit (apricots/nectarines/peaches), mangoes, cherries and berries are also a common accompaniment or a trifle. Me celebrating my British heritage (my grandfather was English so he made my grandmother cook him duck as well as turkey) I had duck with a salad and then Christmas pudding with custard. Wishing you both a safe and festive Christmas season and New Year. May 2025 bring you both much laughter, surprises, prosperity and good health.

Liam did not notice the daffodils along the way. In early spring the whole of Britain is covered with daffodils, The further south you go there are daffodils everywhere. Along the highways, roads, paths, rivers, in municipal town gardens, in house gardens, around castles and manor houses. They are wild or planted annually by villages and towns. They are a wonderful sight. Later in Spring the bluebells fill the woods.

That was some very liquidy custard Debbie, it should really be thick, heavy and slow to run down whatever you pour it on.

The custard should be thick and deep yellow. Mincemeat upsets me. I prefer having a gateaux with cream. My dinner will be Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes, sprouts and mixed veg, sage and onion stuffing, veg gravy and mint sauce. Merry Christmas to both of you🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Merry Christmas, Natasha & Debbie. We normally have turkey, but we've decided to do a cockerel with stuffing and pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, creamy mash potatoes, peas, carrots sprouts & roasted parsnips, bread sauce and gravy and for pudding a small amount of Christmas pudding and cream if I've got room for it as I prefer my dinner than puddings 😊but my hubby loves pudding. thank you ladies I enjoyed watching ❤ xxx

You need WAY more cream on your mince pies and WAY more custard on your Christmas pudding and the custard looked horrible - it is supposed to be thick and creamy not watery and lumpy. Merry Christmas ladies and here's wishing you a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Just a few personal observations about the foods that you two tried in this video.1; mince pies , some people prefer to have these lightly warmed through and instead of double cream we normally have a little spread of butter on top but I am afraid to say , Natasha that it isn’t ordinary butter that we use, it’s either brandy butter or rum butter, both of which are also enjoyed spread on cold slices of the pudding and also on our Christmas cake or other fruit cakes such as Dundee cakes or in my family we have a slightly less fruited cake that we call a “Cut and Come Again Cake “, so called because one slice is never enough to satisfy. 2; The Bird’s Custard, which is not normally served on the pudding, you may have noticed that the custard has a very noticeable yellow colour to it and it is usually served with most of our steamed pudding or baked puddings such as fruit pies or tarts and crumble puddings. Normally on our Christmas puddings we make a white sauce mainly to give a more wintertime vibe to the dish and it can be served as a plain white sauce or with a shot of brandy or rum added to it for those who want it, for myself I don’t like having any sauce or custard on my Christmas pudding but I do like to add a bottle cap of dark rum trickled across the hot pudding which is very nearly the only alcohol that I consume these days. 3; the Yule log in the UK is often made from a commercially produced Swiss roll covered with a chocolate buttercream icing which is applied to resemble the bark on a real wood log, but sometimes we have a log made as a special order which instead of the usual white vanilla flavoured filling in the rolled up sponge cake is made with a chocolate buttercream filling and coating and usually additional decorations such as some artificial holly leaves and a model of a British Robin is lurched on top of the log, sometimes these are plastic models but they can be made from a piece of marzipan modelled into a bird shape and coloured with food dyes. Further details can also be added such as a sprinkle of icing sugar to represent a light coating of snow or a piece of marzipan or royal icing, formed into a coloured disc stuck to the ends of the log and again using food dyes, painted to resemble the growth rings of a real log. Finally may I take this opportunity to wish both of you and your many fan’s a Happy season and a wonderful new year.
