This place is bonkers! They say that Germany has to build everything big! 😮 I would get lost in there! 😅 When I was little, back in the 70's, my grandpa and I built a pretty good size train set in the basement! 36 feet by 48 feet and two levels! My grandpa made me do most of the work so, I learned carpentry before I was 10! 😂

Ladies, if you visit the Miniatur Wunderland, you best anounce yourself beforehand to it. If you then donate to "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A heart for the children) you might get your figurines made and placed. They always help this organisation, as well as underprivileged families. Around Christmas time such families get free entry. I have been there a few times and looked for the hidden gems and easter eggs. Respectfully, Elmar from Germany

As an Englishman living in Hamburg, I visited the "Wunderland" when it first opened and was totally in awe at the detail and expert modelling. Since then it has expanded to unbound size and will continue to do so if the two brothers who made it possible have any say in it. Hamburg is a beautiful historic city always worth a visit, but the "Miniatur Wunderland" has put a crown on the great city.

Yes, MiWuLa is simply great!👍 Back in 2004, America was done. I was simply fascinated by the beautiful landscapes, the characters and the many technical gimmicks on the systems. I wasn't interested in the trains at all.😊The latest gag: a racing Dixie toilet on the Monaco Formula 1 track!😅

Miniatur Wunderland has it's own You Tube channel that regularly posts behind-the-scenes videos of how they make stuff: it's well worth a watch, even just for your own interest, never mind reaction videos. I'm not into model trains, but I _am_ a hobbyist-level plastic model-maker, so I very much appreciate this stuff. When I go to shows that feature train layouts and scale modelling, I spend as much time looking at the cars, buildings and scenery as I do at the trains! Speaking of which, there are lots of "naughty" details at Miniatur Wunderland too. Most model railways accessory catalogues have a "special" section which features no pictures but vivid descriptions of the figure sets with names like "couple in bedroom", "couple on park bench", "couple and picnic blanket", "civilans (at nudist camp)", etc, etc... All human life is there, especially the activities that create more of it...😉Look deep into the woods at MW or on many other railways layouts, and you'll find couples doing what couples go into the woods to do...

Admission is about 20€ per adult. But there are special fees for students, or children, or disabled or elderly people. And at least once a year, they have a few special days or weeks for everyone to visit how is not able to pay any fee. No proof required, just inform the cashier and you'll be allowed in. They are really good people over there.

What's really cool, they have a regular "I cannot afford it" event. On those days people can choose how much they like to pay. This lead to a good number of very happy kids, where their parents couldn't pay the 20 Euro per person (or 12,50 till the age of 15) and from their experience, people still pay, if they have the money for it.

I am not from Hamburg, but I can tell, Hamburg, where Mini Wonderland is located, is the most beautiful German city. The have two tunnel under the Elbe (A river where the biggest ships of the world go on to get to Hamburg. The old Elbtunnel is made for cars in history and the have lifts to get the cars down. Since years this tunnel is only for pedestrians and bicycles open and it is really fun and amazing to see. The Fischmarkt and the Reeperbahn as well. So you should take at least a week in Hamburg to see everything.

Hi Natasha and Debbie, My son and I went to the Miniatur Wunderland back in 2011, it was just in the one building then. It is a fantastic experience to see how tech and the models create a real miniature world. We travelled from London by Eurostar and Thalys TGV high speed trains and the DB regional express to Wuppertal to experience travelling on the unique monorail train, ”die Schwebebahn” opened in 1901. From there by DB ICE train to Hamburg to the Miniatur Wunderland. Fantastisch experiences. We returned to the UK by trains too. No planes except for those at the model airport. Unforgettable 😊😊 🇬🇧❤️🇩🇪. Best wishes to you both 🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸

The behind the scenes video is interesting, but it doesn't even come close to showing how cool the MW really is. When I go, I go early in the morning when nit first opens because the place gets soooo crowded.... You have to book in advance, but it is certainly worth the visit. THey did an amazing job building all those displays. And you have to look closely at the backgrounds and stuff or you may miss a funny!

I've been to Miniatur Wunderland on 3 different occasions of the past several years and never get tired of going there. Even though I've been visiting Ohio every year for the past ten or so, I just heard about EnterTrainment Junction last year and luckily was able to visit in the fall before they closed their doors. I thought it was a really cool place. It's tough to compare because think they offer different kinds of experiences. One technical difference is that the trains of EnterTrainment Junction are of a larger scale (G scale) than the ones in Miniatur Wunderland (HO scale). Overall, the level of detail and complexity of Miniatur Wunderland I think is a factor of ten higher than EnterTrainment Junction. Miniatur Wunderland feels way more immersive. The admission price of Miniaitur Wunderland is very inexpensive, around $20. They also offer guided tours throughout the day (in English and German) that include behind the scenes areas for another$10-$15.

They also hold the records for longest HO scale train, hauling a full size electric locomotive with HO model loks, and a few others! That's a great reaction video! By the way, in KZbin you can go back and forward frame by frame with the keys "," (comma) and "." (dot) This can be useful when you pause a video and just move back a few frames when you just missed the point by a fraction of a second. Press the keys quickly and you get where you want to be on the timeline of the video. And you surely know it, you can pause and play with the space bar and go back and forward maybe 10 seconds with the cursor left and right keys. ------- On the phone there is a double tap on the left side to go back and a double tap on the right side of the video to move forward. And that amount of seconds to move back or forward csn be configured in your KZbin settings, default 10 seconds.

In summer, families with little money and children who are still at school can visit the exhibition one Sunday a month for free and these days are very popular. 16.4 km is not at all two Mount Everests on top of each other, but about five of them. The foot of Everest in the Himalayas is at about 5,364 meters above sea level and the mountain goes up to 8,849 meters. Its actual total height is therefore about 3485 m (or as Tarantino would have said 11434 feet). A much better comparison would be one Mauna Kea (on Haweii (the highest mountain on the planet)). From foot to summit, Mauna Kea is over 17,000 meters high and therefore almost exactly the same height as the tracks in MW-Hamburg are long.
