Family Guy and American Dad already have crossed over, like YEARS ago, at least 10 years ago. During the episode where Stewie successfully takes over the world, he did so by using the CIA's computers to hack into the entire worlds power grid and hold it for ransom, Stan, Bulloch and a couple of other CIA normals tried to stop him, Stewie even called Stan Joe, to which Stan reacted with confusion. Sure it was just a couple of minutes but it was a crossover.
